  • One of the most important operations and moments of the Second World War was D-Day, or the Normandy Landings. But the American forces would encounter a huge number of problems as they landed on Omaha Beach. But defending Omaha was a German soldier and gunner named Heinrich Severloh who would be armed with his MG-42, and he would claim that he shot between 1000 and 2000 US Soldiers who landed on the beach.
Heinrich Severloh was formidable with his machine gun, and he would continue to defend the beach until he ran out of ammunition. From his position of WN62 he would spray bullets on those who were landing from the craft on the beach. He inflicted a huge amount of suffering and slaughter and would become known as 'The Beast Of Omaha' for his actions.
