- So I had a few days in North Wales and went and checked the MBR Trail at Coed Y Brenin, An 18.4km trail with a great mix of rocky gnarlyness, fast, flowing singletrack,
So I got promised,
Riding over bedrock, negotiating loose rocky climbs and descents, swooping round berms, finding a rhythm over huge rollers, flying down steps, dropping into the ‘Cavity’ and getting spat out the exit with as much style as you can muster! It’s a blast that puts a big grin on your face!
Let’s see if it lives up to the hype 🤣

🙌 a piece of MTB history! Well over 20 years old now.
Crazy when you think just the bikes that went around there 20 years ago 🤣

The place could probably have been a lot like Dyfi BP if NRW would have allowed it! From what I've seen in certain videos it could be more like a Welsh Squamish!?
There's some steep stuff at Betwys.
I wish the whole of Wales could get together and become an adventure sports mecca, but with a mixture of levels for all abilities - which it is anyway, but everything is owned/governered by different parties!
I was there a few weeks ago , there’s a lot of stuff in that forest man! The pedal strikes were relentless for me there lol 😂 if I had a eeb that would be the way to go.
I love your videos you are my inspiration
Thanks mate 🤣
The views when riding in the Snowdonia area are hard to beat.
Lovely part of the country. Rode it years ago on a motorless bike, wouldn't dream of taking anything but the eeb these days. Mountain biking has changed, dyfi, stiniog, caesws and revs have a greater pull when in north Wales these days.
I think that’s why it’s closing down from what I read
Aswith most trails, the better you know it the better it gets. Next time take the eMTB and do the Beast. Jim will show you around ;)
Coed Y Brenin is MTB Royalty. A must do.
Not been to Coed y brenin for years but your video pretty much sums up what I thought :). Enjoyed places like Coed Llandegla more recently. Forest of Dean and Cannock chase are my easy go to's...
Definitely a ebike place, in my opinion. Ive done it several times now on a regular bike . An ebike would make those climbs a lot more enjoyable. When you think back to the bikes we were riding & gear ratios ' 26 inch wheels back when it was built must have been brutal.
First taste of MTB was at Brenin whilst spending a couple of weeks at Capel Curig, killer of a place on a normal bike 😅🤘
I like this vid Ben , think I’ll get up there for a stint 👍
Rode there a few years ago, was really looking forward to it after starting mtb riding in Afan, was expecting something special above Afan but didn't find anything to shout about, it's a great trail centre, probably a great eeb day out these days, people want quick up and downs, the long peddle days are few and far between. 👍👍🏴🏴🍻🍻
I'd recommend a trail bike for the trails. Enduro rig will tame it too much.
Pink Heifer pronounced Heff-er
For those that dont know a Heifer is a young cow.
Could’ve popped over for a brew.
I went there once, never again 😂
Next time would be on a Ebike that’s for sure, Cafe is pretty good 🤣
I've always found Coed Y pretty much overrated, really lacks 'memorable' cracking sections. It's a good network with lots of options to mix things up but honestly the best days I've had there have been with my son doing the blue and bike park
Looks flat deaks 😅
🤣🤣🤣
Totally overrated....it's nothing special....lots of better trail centres elsewhere in UK....and of course natural riding in national parks.....for anyone in North of UK it's not worth the massive crappy drive....
One of the worst places to ride, the first trail centre in the uk and is stuck in the past
Yeah but when it first opened it was a revelation, we had all been riding Bridle tracks full of gates before. Things have moved on, bikes are better and we all see what the commercial bike parks are building and expect that everywhere. I really hope these trails can be brought up to date, or they are tailored to the E biker.
@@YorkshireDavid so much area they could develop into a real good trail centre
