In the beginning, if the dog is unsure where to receive reward, I present or deliver the reward just slightly before the terminal mark. Once the dog is anticipating where the toy will be, which happens with experience for both team members, I mark first and then present or deliver.
Very nice video! Congrats! Your videos are always very creative and bright! Just one question if you have time please answer. As it seems you are the owner of both malinois and border collie. Which of these two breeds has more prey drive (toy drive) and which do you think is the biggest difference between these two? Thanks again for wonderful video!Keep up!
Great work! I have watched it many times, trying to pick things up. Just curious where did you get the tug from and what is it made of? I have ordered several different ones and I am not happy with them for different reasons. Any you particularly like?
I guess what I'm not always seeing is the cue for the dog to break heel position and go for the reward. Is it just the movement of the toy? At times it's in your left pocket hand by the dog's face. What says to her she can't have it then? Just because it's still?
Obviously I'm not Forrest but I also use this style of reward. The dog wont touch the ball because without your cue, the ball means nothing. Its conditioned so that untill you give a word, your dog understands that the reward = no fun. Even if I have a friend grab the ball and wiggle it around screaming excitedly, my dog wont look because without my cue that ball means nothing. Hes saying YES as his cue if you listen carefully :)
Love your work Forrest, very precise. You really know your stuff. 🤘
Great video. Beautiful execution, Forrest. Thank you for the great advice and tips.

I prefer 10" double-handled, skinny, fire-hose tugs from Bill Forbes of 'Full Grip Gear' located in Loomis, CA.
Thanks Forrest... Do you mark with the word yes before moving your hand to give the reward or does that matter?
