    It is wonderful whenever I see the 2 lungs of Christianity meet & especially at this location:
    Surely the cause for Christian unity can only be a good thing?

      ***** 400years under the Ottoman Empire's oppression and orthodoxy stood well, stood with fear, 70 years under the oppression of an a-theistic(with the true meaning of the word "atheist", that is, without God's grace) status and orthodoxy stood well, stood with fear. What you expect? A change? A change to what? To faith? With what means this time man? Hmm? They talk talk talk, for decades now.... Unity yes, but in Holy Spirit and not under the spirit of error.-

      I used to debate a lot with muslims and one thing that I noticed was that in general, they do not get into pointless circular arguments with each other, sadly unlike many 'Christians' today.
      Islam is slowly but surely taking over the West due to unstoppable immigration & higher birth-rates.
      One day when it is too late and the Sultan's turban holds sway again, all this petty intra-Christian bickering will be put into perspective.
      This is why it is so important for today's Christians to put aside - sometimes centuries old - suspicions and unite around a common cause.
      Pax.

      That is because in the real world, muslims do NOT have the sence of any democratic procedures of dialogue in any matter since their religion affects any aspect of social and political lives.You cannot agree or disagree with a muslim for the simple reason that his is not the one talking to you but allah and therefeore any dispute or disagreement could end up with a dagger in your bowels.

      Your remark just reminded me of so many cases through ancient, recent or modern history, that the christians were persecuted, imprisoned, tortured and put to death for their choice to remain faithful until their last cadence of their breath to the hope of resuraction and joining the only true love of Christ.
      There are always choices in life.
      What if somedy made a tattoo of a cross on his skin but forced to bear also the sign of the beast in order to have access to goods tthat will preserve him and his family?
      In any case, there is always nothing "democratical" in everythig that is being forced to people.Not then not now. People make unwilling contracts and submissions in their daily lives to each other, their govs etc and it is considered a usual thing even if it has casualties of all kinds.A christian though, must have a clear picture of what of all these situations affects his soul in a degree that determins his final decissions in a personal level.
      The question for him is to whom he chooses to be worthy of.
      Hope l've helped the discussion a little.

    • @scanmangr
      @scanmangr 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      juan salinas To your question, the answer is very simple. There is no communion between holy and unholy. When someone says "I ll take the mark of the beast, but i ll put a cross also", he is in great fallacy.

    Most of these comments on the Pope's pilgrimage to the Holy Land are various interest groups in opposition to the seat of the Apostle Peter. We have nationalist, post-KGB advocates, and fascist (Eastern European politics) who hate the Pope due to Pope John Paul II role in the fall of the Soviet Union. You have freemasons who hate the Pope due to his social and political influence on Catholics in the Americas and around the world. You have Zeitgeist supporters who hate the Pope due to their generation after generation influence on global spirituality. You have Christian extremist who hate the Pope due to his dialogue with Islam. You have capitalist who hate him because the Pope calls for redistribution of wealth. You have Zionist who hate the Pope because he is in favor of a two-state solution. If the Pope has so many enemies, this proves that he is very close to Christ. Christ had many enemies and all our Lord did was to pray for them and ask the Father in Heaven to forgive them. It is time as Christians, that we show our true colors. We must stop being judgmental towards our enemies and start loving our enemies as Christ did. In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, I pray that all of God's creation becomes ONE in CHRIST JESUS. AMEN.

      @8CenotapheR4 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "If the Pope has so many enemies, this proves that he is very close to Christ."
      Because this is a dogma in Papacy, it is a good proof (one the countless) that papacy is the greatest heresy and the cause of all the other schismatic "churches" since the great schism.
      More than 1 billion people live in ignorance, barely scratching the surface, without any research between history, holy tradition, holy scriptures and sacramental experience. To live in heresy is not a sin but disrespect to your soul and this is way worse!
      *As for the "many enemies" it can be easily revised to "where there's smoke, there's fire" and there's a LOT...

      Mykhailo Andorka Alas man, none can hurt the orthodox ecclesia in Christ, but the orthodox christians themselves (apostasies and great apostasy). Like none could hurt the ancient Israel, but the ancient israelites themselves. (apostasies and ~33AD)

    • @nachillyo
      @nachillyo 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Roman Church was seduced with power. The Eastern Church was seduced with nationalism. Notice, the Eastern Church is very humble but very comfortable in their borders and language. It lacks missionaries. The Roman Church on the other hand became too much of a tyrant and wanted to force itself on people. It lost it's humility. Now, since the issues of Syria, a reality check is signal. Both Churches need each other, the Eastern Church due to its sloth has made itself victim to Islam and nationalism. On the other hand, the Western Church due to its pride has made itself victim to the ruling classes of the world. The Eastern Church can teach the Roman Church humility. On the other hand, the Roman Church can teach the Eastern Church missionary. Those against Christian unity are anti-Christian and lack obedience. Thank you Jesus for Patriarch Bartholomew and Pope Francis. Finally, Christianity is working again.

      Jorge R. Why the orthodox Pope Leo III said a big NO to Charlemagne, concerning the "filioque"? A. Because he wanted power? B. Because he was an extreme nationalist? C. Because he didn't want to change his orthodox faith?

    • @8CenotapheR4
      @8CenotapheR4 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jorge R. Orthodox lacks missions and missionaries = joke or you are simply mislead or as I previously wrote, most Papacy believers barely scratch the topics with "epidermic" research.

    Praying with the heterodox is prohibited by The Church canons. Whoever does it is committing a sin. This old man fool Bartholomew should have been deposed long time ago for his sins against The Church. He exploits the love Church pours out to the sinners hoping for a repentance and keeps adding salt to the injuries he inflicted. May God have a mercy on his soul.!

      Patryjarcha Bartłomiej widać jest człowiekiem rozumnym ,nie znam go ,ale myślę ,że szlachetnym
      reprezentuje swój patriachat i w pewien sposób Kościoły wschodu, Kiedyś stanie wobec Jezusa i Jezus zapyta co robił dobrego na rzecz jedności?
      dlatego cieszmy się ,że robi to co robi.
      Kościól zawsze miał różne tradycje, obrządki, liturgie
      jako wyraz wiary i posługiwał się różnymi językami
      Nawet wyraz doktrynalny był różny, czy różne podejścia teologiczne i koncepcje Ale nie to jest ważne
      Ważny jest Jezus historii i Chrystus wiary, Jechoszuła Jezus z Nazaretu ,w którym jest zbawienie i prostej wierze z naszej strony. Podział był czy jest wynikiem w gruncie rzeczy różnic kulturowych językowych ,a bardziej, wynikiem izolowania się ,nie zrozumienia, chęci władzy, nie nawet doktryny. Tu potrzeba więcej wiary i zrozumienia ,kontaktów, a co do grzechu .Dla nas Jezus stał się grzechem, aby nas do Ojca przyprowadzić. W Jezusie jest tylko zbawienie....

    When two companies merge together to form one company they give and take. If the Catholic Church and Greek Orthodox Church should merge together what doctrines would they accept. And what doctrines would they give up to achieve Christian Unity? My guess is None and None! So, everything remains the same! Christian Unity is just talk! No action! So, if they merged together what would their leader be called? Pope? Patriarch? How about POPETRIARCH! ! !

      The pope is still the patriarch of rome. And unity doesnt mean the orthodox church has to accept the Pope as the one and only sole leader. There are countless other options, such as the orthodox churches getting autocephaly and accepting the pope as Primus Inter Pares, while the catholic church keeps its current structure. This is already the case with the greek catholic church.

      Graham must be deceased and be deceased for I believe five years before the sainthood process can begin. He's still alive at present. He must also have two miracles confirmed to have occurred through his intercession, to become a saint. Indeed, before canonization he must be beatified, to become Blessed Billy Graham. The time between beatification and canonization can also last years.
