This video has changed my life and is immediately applicable relationally, charitably, and professionally. I now see so many opportunities for improving my relationships with an asset-based approach to giving help or support.
After watching this series, I feel shameful. I shop year round for a local hospital Child Life Foundation, Toys for Tots, local social services, and church foundations. I'm sitting in my car with so many toys. All for holidays and Christmas. I feel bad that I'm doing the 10%. Tomorrow is my birthday. I plan to volunteer as a runner at a food pantry. I still feel horrible for not properly helping! I went to culinary school and I like to bake. I give dog cookies to friends of mine who have dogs.
Michelle, the gifts you've donated have made an impact in the lives of kids. The last thing we want is for anyone to feel shame for the ways they've served others in the past. These videos exist in order to highlight how complex helping others can be and to offer guidance on how we can best serve others as we go forward. Thank you for taking the time to watch these videos and consider how God is calling you to serve. -- Laura
