I don't recall needing to be connected to the internet. Been a while but I recall a USB cable directly from the device to the laptop. Worth reaching out to them confirm.
Internet need for a new tool opening. All process automatic ( only take care not to plug and unplug USB many timems...). After tool got 10 key for next 10 use: you can use it 10 times without internet connection. If you have it you will get 10 next chance automatically.
