Still not over the fact Blitz became a live heating pad. Those 'eggs' he was cooking when they came back, actually was coal (or brimstone someone said?) and he used that to raise his body temperature, and then crawled in Stolas' lap to heat him up. I love it when viv utilizes the fact they are demons and not humans.
My interpretation of why Mille is extra concerned beyond worrying about being a mom is her job. She loves her job but it's also extremely dangerous. Any time she takes a big hit or needs to jump around could kill the baby. That's why during the fight she took guns rather than melee even though it's the opposite of every other fight she's had.
I think that's it. Or, maybe she's not ready to have a baby, and wants to get an abortion, and she knows moxie won't be happy about it even if he's supportive. Those are my two ideas
I think she's also just not ready to face it right now. I feel like she was aware of it, but it didn't set in until she did the test at the party. And undeniable proof is staring her in the face, and she just doesn't know what to do. She wasn't prepared for this situation and doesn't know how to even begin to approach it. As she said, the call really helped. She got to talk with someone about this, and that can make you more ready for an unprepared situation. Now it's just a matter of healthily communicating with Moxxie on this.
Yeah. They're poor, they have very little stability right now, and they're in constant danger of being killed. Not a conducive lifestyle for raising a baby.
I think it is also worth noting that Stolas went to the trial, seemingly, under the full assumption that he would be executed and was surprised that that didn't happen. We could see his acceptance of that last episode. He never considered that he would actually have to face the emotional fallout of that choice. He never considered how that choice would affect Octavia's perception of him.
Stolas: if I die you will be okay He seemed to miss the fact that dying for Blitz is still CHOOSING Blitz. The problem is also NOT Blitz. It's him LEAVING and not being there for her. He... HASN'T been there for her when he could have. Octavia's beef is that he wasn't a better father. Which is a fair beef to have. They need time apart. Maybe. Maybe after they have both grown and changed and become better people, then they can come back together. My Mom and I did. Alex and I won't.
Depression often makes a person devalue their life to the point that the impulse is to assume that people will be fine without them. Note: 'I want someone to care if I stay or go.' The waves of depression make Stolas forget that he matters to anyone. He put himself in danger again in the finale when he punched Andre. In Mastermind and in Sinsmas, on some level, Stolas would have rather died than go on feeling the way he does. Octavia doesn't really understand what Stolas was doing in Sinsmas. In Mastermind, he decides that he'd rather die than live without Blitzø. In Sinsmas, he decides that he'd rather die than live without Octavia. In both cases, his depression clouded his ability to even consider the fallout. Octavia and Blitzø would have been crushed if Andre had killed him. Via's father dying trying to come see her would have been some never leaving therapy kind of trauma.
Exactly. He has a habit of never considering anyone other than himself. He has a habit of being classist, condescending, and spineless. Sure, in theory, financially his daughter would fine, but he also forgot that he has a murderous wife and brother-in-law, who wouldn't be too sad about having to have the girl killed for his stuff.
@@aria5614If you mean they both need to be separated you're referring to Blitz and Stolas because if that's the case, sure. But Octavia didn't do anything wrong. She just needs some distance from her father and her mother... Especially since if her mom was willing to kill her dad that I wouldn't be surprised of her mom and brother wouldn't try to kill her
Stolas was truly on that "I'll keep all my family trauma buried down deep in me, and then one day, I'll _die."_ grindset. If only he could self-sacrifice and not actually suffer the consequences of this impossible choice he made without even thinking he made it.
@@3BSkyen Makes sense. If you meander too much you can lose your original point, forget the tangent you were talking about and therefore make that part of the video meaningless. And 8.7 seconds of commentary/analysis for every second of the original video is VERY concise. I would start worry, if you went beyond 15-20 seconds for second. That would mean the you don't keep editing discipline. But 8.7? Very healthy. Also I guess if you have any "candies" that actually do help your voice - you might want to check if they would sponsor you. Best type of sponsorship is when sponsor doesn't know that person wants to actually help them sell, because it might make less people suffer.
my personal headcanon is that sinsmas is something introduced by sinners that simply missed having christmas. would explain why stolas has never heard of it as an official thing and why it has christmas decorations.
Yeah, I could see it as something that was introduced by Lilith/Luci/the sins/someone as an anti-christmas if u will, but then sinners brought normal Christmas stuff to it making the holidays end up ironically not too dissimilar
1:58:00 The obvious subtext is "Oh, the crack is separating them, because their relationship is irreparably damaged." But the subbier text, the text that _will_ dom, but only if the other text wants it to, is "The crack goes _right through_ Octavia, because even as this relationship is breaking, she's tearing herself apart more."
My hot take about Octavia is that that outburst of emotion at the end was a lie. The whole episode we see how Stella and Andrealphus are not subtle AT ALL, how she discovered her dad's antidepressants, she even goes out there at first to give his meds to her dad and it's only after the fight with Andrealphus that she says all of this to Stolas. My theory is that to "free" Stolas from everything that tied him to that place she decided to give him the cold shoulder so he wouldn't come anymore looking for her risking getting killed by Andrealphus
Oo this is interesting. Alot of people talk about how Stolas doesn't express himself in ways to avoid being a burden but I suppose in theory, that can be true for Via in relation to Stolas she wants to take the burden off of him even if it hurts her to do it damn =(
i love this hypothesis, but i think something that subtle has to be more spelled out at some point ; like, show us her process so we understand her better -
@@riverroth3688 i want the show to give me reasons to love Via beyond the mere fact that Stolas does, i wanna feel how he feels about her, so i hope we get much more of her arc-ing s3
I hope Millie asks Stolas about his personal story about having a kid bc hes the only one who can actually help her situation, AND IT WILL ALSO SO CUTE HAVING AN INTERACTION OF THEM DEALING THIS stolas with octavia and millie with the future baby
@@KaterynaM_UA Or that she, as a working assassin, is worried she might have to get one to keep doing the thing she loves. However, that is an episode to itself, which would be amazing to have a Millie Stolas one about family and child-rearing.
@@KaterynaM_UA I disagree but even if I didn't I think it would just be a poor writing choice, because now you have this big dramatic moment where everything could change, and then you just abandon the change to return to the status quo, yknow?
@@KaterynaM_UA We don't know that. I would rather say that it is heavily implied that she's considering having an abortion. But I don't see how she would have already decided on it.
One thing I noticed about Blitz this episode was that while he still has the capacity to be overbearing, he's not being overly protective of Loona so much. It could be just his attention shifting more towards Stolas of course; but he's happy enough to take his daughter on the job with Stolas staying at I.M.P, seems genuinely touched when she offers to help with a job he struggles with, and seems frankly excited to fight with her against Andrealphus. Loona too seems more comfortable around him, specifically asking for him to join a board game with friends and acting generally less hostile towards everyone. Big chance that overprotective energy gets reinforced and refocused if something goes wrong with Stolas, but still nice to see some progress with these two, even if it wasn't the actual focus of the episode.
Exactly. Things are improving for Blitz quite nicely. Since he's not being overbearing and protective he and Loona are getting along much better. Plus, him almost ending of executed kind of help Loona with her barriers.
I’ve been thinking about this episode a lot, and a lot about Via, and I’ve come to a conclusion- the only person who could reach her and get through to her now, to let her see how things could be better, isn’t Stolas, nor is it blitz. No, it’s Loona. When Via ran away, Loona was the one who got through to her, and understood her- she understands Via to an extent, and she definitely understands Blitz. I think her perspective is what could give Via a chance to grow. Sister to sister.
I genuinely really love how much Skyen really does understand everyone's position and, without casting blame or treating anyone unreasonably as The Villain(TM), nonetheless doesn't hesitate to call various characters out for their role in other character's trauma and suffering. It's legit just a tangle of human relationships and emotions that traumatized people are learning to navigate together, without having really learned how previously.
Seeing the progression of Stolas getting progressively worse while off his medication hits so hard. Like damn I’ve been in that place where you can feel your mental health slip away and you know what would make it better but you just can’t for whatever reason. Feel for you Stolas. Being off your antidepressants fucking sucks.
Fun fact: during the dance scene the stolitz fandom was collectively sent back in time to the famous stolitz SWAY fan animatic by Dark Crowl, which had stolitz dancing to Frank Sinatra's "Sway" with Blitz standing on dinner tables to match Stolas' height. Then it turned out that same artist did the storyboarding and some of the compositing for *this* stolitz dance scene Edit: I am an idiot the Sway song is by Micheal Bublé not Frank Sinatra
"Stolas is racist towards imps" How could you say something so brave and still so freaking correct. Brother literally chooses to make blitz the exception.
I'd say more that he was but as he is now around them more hes learning they are not so different probably take a few more episodes for it to fully sink in
1:21:50 for those who are interested: Sam Haft, the lead song writer of the show recently said on twitter that the song for this episode was finished... WHEN LOO LOO WORLD CAME OUT! And for those who have no concept of time anymore (like myself) that was 4 YEARS AGO! Edit: the Octavia song I mean.
That’s actually cool how far in advance they think of the plot. Must be a difficult part of the job having to keep things like that a secret for yeeeeeeears!
@@ChristinaMagmaI KNOW RIGHT? I don't understand how people can work with NDAs like that, imagine working on something like ARCANE for like 6 years and you can't tell ANYONE about it! (No idea if Spindlehorse has NDAs etc etc, just a useful word for me to summarize this right now :P)
And you know what, this is cheesy and I've said it in comments before but it's the end of the year so why not - I just wanna thank you again Skyen, for igniting my passion for learning animation SPECIFICALLY with these helluva boss videos. Getting into animating has been one of the most joyful things I've done this year, and it all came about due to my ASD hyperfixating on the gay demon show leading me to your videos. I'm just, very thankful for your content. It's made a real tangible impact on my life this year. 💜
jjjacksfilms always talks about how to make a good reaction/commentary video and my brain defaults to 3BSkyen every time. His commentary to original content ratio in this is literally 9:1
"Don't skip your meds" So there was a time when my antidepressant prescription got delayed and it was going to be about a week (I think) between when I ran out and got more. I thought "oh it'll be fine, I can deal with being depressed for a few days." No, no withdrawal is way different than just not being on your meds. I realized that it was a problem when I was gleefully torturing and killing npcs in RDR2 and I had a moment where I realized "I'm not this angry." I decided to go to the pharmacy and get an emergency supply to hold me until I got the full supply in before I ended up doing something actually bad.
“we can’t solve the human condition, we can only learn to navigate it” was something i really needed to hear tonight. i’ve been having some similar conflicts with my mother over the holidays, and your analysis on stolas/via and how you inherit certain aspects of your parents really hit home for me. we had a good conversation and will hopefully continue to work things out. thank you for sharing your insights of this show, and good luck to everyone navigating the human condition over the holidays 🫶
Not only "less analystical " but also less empathetical like everyone acts like they're allways self reflected, perfectly communicative, stable and not at all self centered. Octavia and Blitzø are a good and realistic display of miscommunication and misunderstanding
Yea no, let's not do that, because people do give Blitzo alot of leeway and extend him alot of empathy meanwhile they demonize Stolas. Ya'll need to realize that for as much misunderstandings happen, it doesn't give you a pass to lash out in the most abusive of ways and as for Via, most people do understand that yes, she is right to FEEL betrayed, but the reality of the situation is Stolas did do the right thing by not letting an innocent man die.
@ Look who missed the part of the video about there being no bad guy. Both parties in both situations share some of the blame for how they react to it. People aren’t demonizing Stolas, they just mention his wrongs a lot more because Blitzø and Via’s shortcoming are already obvious and a huge chunk of the fandom is intent on seeing Stolas get off scot free.
One really nice touch they've done right from the start... Blitzo and Octavia getting little scenes where they're a little in sync, so that it's clear that eventually they'll get on great. Also... re: the hundred years... Octavia was introduced as a 17 year old on the cusp of legal adulthood. Andy's got a /very/ short window of any sort of official control over her.
@@seeleunit2000 They've made it pretty clear Andy sees Octavia as an obstacle. Odds are decent his plans include either murder and/or marrying her off in some fashion. Stella's content to just stick it to Stolas, but Andy? Andy wants it /all/.
One of the things that took me by surprise in this episode was actually...Stella. Think about it, the mere POSSOBILITY of her disapproval was enough to make Andrealphus retreat. Andrealphus. The quite literal peacock of the family. Why would he care? She's dumb, vain and greedy, he could always say something like "oh, I was BARELY trying, I had them in my hands, don't worry dear". But no, Andy doesn't even want to CONSIDER how Stella would react to his loss. Why? What could she hold that would make a demon that can conjure ice hydras so afraid? Then I remembered: Stolas is a Prince of Hell, which would make his spouse a Princess. Andy is a Marquis, an irl much inferior position. I wonder if one of Andy's objectives is to keep Stella from using her real powers, because then there would be nothing he could do to manipulate her. Idk, it just seemed strange that one of her fits of rage could scare him so much...
Well to be fair, Stella is also just a massive yapper gossiping to anyone willing to listen, so she is very capable of just completely ruining his reputation
She's a princess by marriage. She's not, to our knowledge, in line to inherit any familial power, unlike Octavia who is a princess by Birth. Her power seems to echo Stolas' only, UNLESS Stella is shown at some point to have fire or earth-shattering powers. Wouldn't that be a thing: Stella HAS to scream and throw fits of range because the alternative is she represses it and accidentally blows up 3 city blocks.
Well one idea could be that Stella actually has tons of innate power but she's just been too lazy to actually put any effort into learning as to how to harness it... it's like old aristocratic military officers who got there by birth but never actually bothered to learn to do their job lol
While I doubt Stella has prince scale powers the reason Andy need to consider her opinion of him is probably that him being in Stolas' palace in dependant on her. Stolas is banished so no access to his titles and possessions (his power is probably sealed somehow as well), Octavia has the inherent power but lacks the titles and possessions as she is not of age. This would make Stella her guardian by default. While Andy did do the talking in the trial it is quite possible he doesn't have any official status as Stolas' "replacement" and only gets to enjoy the palace because Stella (the owner as long as Stolas is banished and Octavia is not of age) lets him.
My hubby and I picked up the term "Maximalist Gooning Den" from the Weeabooboo short video and I embroidered him a "Bless This Maximalist Gooning Den" sampler for one of his christmas presents XD
Viv confirmed in an Interview that they had to decide the direction of the show around the time they wrote Loo-Loo-Land: Adult joke show or roll with the relationship drama.
pretty sure she already had a vision for the show way before that and though funny was never meant to be joke show of course plot lines change and I'm sure its different than how she first imagined it
@@Chasodey Same, but I think it's because while the presentation is soapy as hell, the actual drama is very realistic. Eliminate the whole demons and hired killers thing, and it's about two single dads figuring out their relationship while navigating their own past traumas and trying - badly in Stolas' case - to raise their kids.
I lowkey wish it was a more balanced version of both, but I do like the direction the show went after that and the fact that we still get the killing adventures in the shorts
Everyone in that family needs friends bc Stolas has Literally No One either. I hope thats the role of Vassago now that we have been introduced to him; A genuine friend for Stolas.
THANK YOU!!! thank you for being generous to Octavia, the way she emulates the way her dad behaves almost to a T went through so many people's heads including my own on my first watch
Blitz seems like the type of dad that would want his adopted kid to mantain her roots to her culture, I bet he'd learn about Gluttonesse traditions and implement them in his house just to avoid her feeling alienated
"It's called "the world is burning down around me" by Fuck you, Dad" Also Octavia's song was written around the time LooLoo Land came OUT. They've been sitting on it for 2 seasons!
Plus he'll have a whole truckload of OCs (we've seen some of them on his whiteboards) and he's a shipper. Not a sappy romantic shipper but the very intense kind that tries to cover how intense he's feeling about the characters by smothering every discussion about them in cracky comedy. "You can't mock me for this Pinkie/OC pairing because it's a CRACKSHIP learn to have fun dipshit!"
It also makes sense tho cause Blitzø has essentially been his caretaker ever since his exile. Stolas definitely would have come to this conclusion faster if he was completely on his own
Oh man I wasn't going to comment again but I LOVE how you pointed out Andrealphus sort of weaves his ice magic rather than doing direct combat. Idk about the ties to Mammon or if that was what they were going for, but Andre IS a weaver metaphorically. As stupid as they are, HE was always the one weaving plans and plots. Very, very apt way to have that reflected in how he fights.
also, this is just kinda funny to me; the SECOND Millie threw up, I was like "Oh, she's totally pregnant." To see Skyen being like "Oh, it feels like something's being set up HMMMMM." was a little funny.
@@rosenrot234 To be fair, they make it a little subtle by giving her other possible reasons to have those symptoms, like making her throwing up seem like a reaction to seeing an angel decoration at first
@damienearl8302 That camera pan to the decoration happened so fast my original viewing I didn't even register it. I don't get how people think she's puking at a decoration when that isn't really a thing we've seen her do at all.
@@rosenrot234 Sure, but it seems like they aren't familiar with Christmas in the human world, so I thought at the time that being surrounded by so much non-sinful and religious Christmas stuff gave her that reaction
Fun fact: the dance scene sent the Stolitz fandom back in time to a famous Stolitz SWAY fan animatic by Dark Crowl, where Blitz stands on dinner tables to dance with Stolas to the song "Sway" by Micheal Bublé And the same artist behind it has since joined the team and did the storyboarding and some of the compositing for *this* dance scene. It all came full circle (Commented this again cause it looked like youtube deleted my comment before)
Go count all the videos that say "Stolas bad". Don´t watch them, they ain´t worth a damn, but count them. It really paints a picture of how many people watch this show and take it at face value.
100%. i wish everyone in this fandom understood that this world/these characters aren’t black and white. it isn’t “so and so is right, so and so is wrong,” it can’t be categorized. thats why the stolas/blitz arguments (and the stolas hate in general) is so annoying. its always “blitz is in the right! octavia is in the right!” and, i kid you not, ive even seen a “stella is in the right!” stolas is bad, sure, but that doesnt mean the other characters are better. like discussed in the video, octavia’s views make sense, but they aren’t necessarily right. blitz was right to be upset about stolas and the deal, but he also did some things he shouldn’t have done.
@@gearguts7259 Yes! Honestly I think seeing stolas develop different relationships with the members of IMP will be interresting, to see him create a healthy support system with more than ONE person. Like, imagine Loona coming to him about her extra eyes in feral form and ask "how do you deal with having four eyes ?" lol (if it's something somewhat uncommon for hellhound, i initially thought it might be something she learned while handling his grimoire. I feel like multiple eyes are a symbol of power , goetias often have more than 2, the sins too when they take their demonic form etc)

You dismissed the idea, but too many jump to that as a reason she'd be unhappy about an unplanned pregnancy, and you of all commentators should understand the plethora of reasons why she wouldn't be ready to have one yet. 2:43:10 Theoretically a match would tip in Stolas's favor. Regarding "You Will Be Okay" and "I Will Be Okay", while I haven't done a deep dive into them, I can say that they are in the same key (C Major), time signature, and approximate tempo, and while Octavia is mostly singing a different melody, there are a few times where she melodically quotes Stolas' song. I also think the cadence they end on is the same, but I'm not positive.
I would not be surprised if they also have a reconciliation song that would be a sort of final reprise, and they duet with Stolas singing in the original melody from “You Will Be Okay” and Via’s melody from “I Will Be Okay” will be the counter melody.
i've been refreshing ur channel every single hour thats how obsessed i am with your reactions skyen 😭 my daily dose of dopamin i guess (love to see that its 4 hours) thank you for this
I think that the closet in the Octavia song part was filled with Stolas things, there were drawings and the heart with dad on it so probably showing that he kept all things that he gave for her
I really like that even at her angriest Olivia still sees her dad stop and lend her a hand when she falls. Yes, he's still a scowling shadow, but still!
I recently came across your channel and am using this as therapy because what do you mean there’s someone that analyzes every scene in a show that I adore for 4 HOURS? I’m here for it 😂
8:11 bird nerd time!! Quite a few of species actually do consume either their own eggs (usually due to stress or hunger desperation) or the eggs of other birds. Owls especially like to do this, as they'll raid the nests of other birds to eat anything inside, shell and all. It's actually a good source of calcium for them as well, so sometimes you'll see chickens eat shells themselves. Although since Stolas has sentience, you gotta wonder how close to cannibalism it is for him to eat eggs lol
The US has this weird, backwards cultural perspective on intimacy, both sexual and non sexual. Violence is completely desensitized, but goodness gracious don't be a heterosexual man and ever try to display affection or love to anyone other than your wife or child of less than ten years old or you'll get labels dumped on you by truckload. I have an entire soapbox about platonic intimacy and how it's suppressed and desperately needed in western society tbh
Boi am i glad to not live in the US sometimes. I hug my homies, parents, siblings and whoever else wants me to with no reservations, and i am a very heterosexual man.
I love this episode so much, and let me say this: Blitz and Stolas FINALY had an open(ish) conversation about their feelings and also, Blitz is probably the MVP of the episode, like sir you took care of your bird boy and also let him be sad and not force him to talk or nothing and was there for him. Peak. Absolute character progression for our helluva boss.
Millie, whos job is to be an assassin, whos life is on the line every single day, getting herself into more and more dangerous situations: _gets pregnant_ Skyen: "it IS Moxxie's, right?" I'm pretty sure thats not the angle here lol
@JS06-h5d Well give one or the other up. This could be a clever way to talk about the difficulties surrounding the decision of abortion, which is especially appropriate considering the political climate of America right now.
If the stuff around angel dust is anything to go by viv ain’t afraid to go to some sensitive topics and helluva boss has more free reign to approach something like that
Maybe it's just the American in me, but my first thought was "Oh god, what does the hospital bill in Hell for childbirth look like?!" Kids are expensive and I can't imagine Blitz can afford to pay them very well.
43:40 [after just watching through Octavia’s entire song uninterrupted] “this is gonna take a hot second” I just checked, we move onto the next scene at 1hr30 XD 45min+ of Octavia’s song / character / animation ❤ Skyen you feed us well
This episode left me in tears more than once, not even that I’m going through some similar trauma now or anything, but the sheer emotionality and despair and anger showed in Via and Stolas in this episode is so well done that it got to me. Well this and the line "I will be okay though I’ll never be the same” hit me like a truck. Also - if people bitch on Octavia that’s honestly crazy. Like you say, she may be legally on brink of adulthood, but she’s still just a fucking child and one raised in a household where one parent is abusive asshole and the other just left from her perspective, and didn’t really teach her how to deal with emotions anyway. She is showed to just quietly resign herself with shit going on in her home up to that point and no wonder she has reached a point where she has to actually explode into anger to survive. Frankly I believe that she could have reacted way stronger/worse than she did. Justice for Via, poor bird girl.
I will say, on the note of Millie's Pregnancy and where they take it, I have a few predictions (though they largely hinge on M+M keeping the baby) I think a fun development would be that, since Loona has shown an interest in doing actual field work, if Loona becomes I.M.P.'s primary Melee Operative while Millie is moved to the desk with Stolas for the duration of her pregnancy. Since Millie seems generally more personable than Loona, she'd be great to mentor Stolas on the daily operations, thus by the time she goes on Maternity Leave (presumably alongside Moxxie getting some Paternity Leave) Stolas will be well equipped to handle desk duties while Blitzo and Loona carry out the actual hits, with Stolas being I.M.P.'s main secretary from then on while various combinations of Blitzo, Loona, and M+M (upon their return) form the field team. On top of this, I'd love to see Blitzo and Stolas as babysitters for M+M's baby. Since Blitzo adopted Loona when she was almost 18, it'd be interesting to see him trying to handle an actual infant; while Stolas would probably go full dad-mode based on his experience raising Octavia as a nestling. I do expect that M+M _will_ keep their baby, since parenthood (especially fatherhood and the attempts of abused men to be better than their own fathers) is a big recurring theme in _Helluva Boss_ between Paimon, Stolas & Octavia and Cash, Blitzo & Loona. It'd make sense to continue the theme through Crimson, Moxxie & Lil' Baby Knolastname.
I'd love to see Vivzie design shorts, I am specially curious on his thoughts on Blitz now that he knows the whole clown backstory + pirate hyperfixation
Ok for the off topic starter topic - I like the original disney renaissance’s idea in treasure planet -- the pirate captain’s cyborgism is used mainly for precise cooking
You make a good point about North America and its issues with sex and sexuality. It's really, really exhausting. If Helluva boss ever has a Blu-ray release, I'm positive there's going to be some extra content that had to be cut for TH-cam that will be put into uncensored blu-rays.
They’ll have to be added, i think. I don’t know if its common to “cut” in an animated series. Usually that happens in the storyboard phase no? So if there were any, theyd have to be animated and added instead of just a simple uncut.
Honestly disappointed with how many people even considered for a second that Millie cheated, as soon as i saw her break down after realizing her situation i couldnt help but sympathize, because in my case id rather k myself than have a child, but even if she doesnt end up getting an ab*rtion theres so much potential for how this can be handled, hopefully it turns out for the best
Also not a fan of the lowkey misoginistic remarks going on with the commentary here, the lack of care when talking about unplanned/accidental (YES because even while using contraception THERES A CHANCE FOR PREGNANCY) and how women feel about their bodies and the idea of pregnancy can be very harmful. Not everyone wants a child, even people who do want can experience difficulties due to their current situations, sometimes things just happen and its not always a happy thing btw yes i watched everything and saw Skyen thankfully backtracking but i just wanted to point out because at some point it was almost unbearable to watch, i was glad chat was being reasonable at least
@@Eletrocinese i think that was just a case of his story analysis brain going on a tangent of "maximum possible drama", because lets be real, i wouldnt put it past this show to go there just to hurt the audiences feelers.
I keep hearing people claim that Luna‘s new feral wolf form is going to trigger the furries. Not true. The furries prefer her anthropomorphic form more. The full wolf form will only be catching the attention of a smaller subset group of furries that doesn’t represent the fandom as a whole.
No need to be on the defensive, this wasn't meant to be about sex. It's about how feral traits are highlighted and minimized through the characters feelings and behaviors.
6:46 I really needed that talking to about taking your meds…late case adhd diagnosis here and GOD do I have a habit of taking it consistently for a while, feeling great and like I don’t need to take it anymore, stopping taking it, plummeting to mental health rock bottom, and then doing it all again
For perhaps the first time in his life Blitz is the one loving someone who can't fully bring themselves to be open to that love because of how they see themselves, which may be great for character growth even as it breaks our hearts. Especially since he went for the two-for-one special. Both Stolas and Via are so scared of being an obligation to the people they love that they can't trust the abundance of evidence for that not being the case. Despite the guitar being a gift from Stolas to Via the boxes still say Stolas' stuff so I think the staff was told to just drop everything start-themed in his room without a care. And it clearly shows that Stolas kept and cherished every single thing Via made for him for 17 years; every drawing, every arts & crafts project, every card. Not to mention that he was willing to face his vindictive wife and brother-in-law, powerless and barehanded for a chance to see her. And yes, that was reckless as hell and at least partly brought up due to his lack of medication but still. Stolas wasn't even hoping Blitz would come save him anymore he just went cuz he couldn't stand being kept apart from his child any longer. It's kind of a miracle that he held out a month before doing the stupid thing. If Stolas had all his powers Andre would be a smear on the ground. Again, it'd be a Marquis vs Prince thing, and even his much younger and less trained daughter can wreck him. Not to mention, we've seen him have much better control of his powers. Whereas Andy freezes a room every time he has a tantrum, Stolas didn't even need to be in the same realm of existence as the Dorks to put on his little light show when he rescued IMP and then immediately pulled it back in. Whereas we've seen in the trial episode Andre just leaves messes everywhere and still needs hand motions for more accuracy, while Stolas could emote with his hands all over the place without it disrupting his accuracy; accuracy of which he was confident enough not to just trust himself but Blitz with, as seen when he freed him from his chains with a lash of his powers. So yeah, not much of a competition. Also, random but I think is interesting that in irl lore Paimon is a musically talented demon so them only knowing how to properly deal with feelings that way may truly be a family thing :/ And Cartoon Universe tends to do a great job of spotting the irl lore that serves as a possible influence for the Hellaverse and they mention Saturnalia as a possible inspiration for Sinsmas, if you were still curious. I could talk about how Stolas once again gave Blitz the Full Moon Talk of I don't want you to feel obligated to stay with me but honestly, the balcony dancing was almost the death of me and I don't have the space for anything else. When Stolas told Blitz he was always creative enough to make things work felt like he was complimenting his resilience, which I truly believe is one of the things that made him fall for him. Blame Georgia Dow's 'Helluva Boss Therapist Analysis: This Is How You Build Resilience'. And then Blitz responding by saying that he could only be as creative as Stolas was flexible felt like him trying to build him up by recognizing his strengths as Millie did for him but also to remind him that they could only work because they kept finding ways to meet where they were. Something that's true of all relationships (and has already been proven true for theirs thanks to Full Moon) and they are both trying So Hard even if it can't make all the troubles go away. Stolas even stole a little glance at Blitz' lips before looking into his eyes again because despite everything this is something he really wants no matter how complicated his feelings about it are at the moment. And then that hug happening after they've seen each other eye to eye... God, I remember in Loo Loo Land, when the writers had us see how these idiots saw their relationship by having Stolas refer to Blitz as his knight in shining armor (which kept being called back this ep) while Blitz referred to himself as Not-A-Day-Hooker. How far we've come. But even back then we got glimpses of Blitz and Via having the potential to be a good team, which we see pay off here when she backs Blitz up when he uses elitists' bias against an elitist. So thank you for pointing out how dumb Andre actually is. Dude isn't even trying to ingratiate himself with the person who can throw him and her mom out of HER house next year. After all, even that Karen showed more interest in her kids than Stella does and Loona seems more protective of Stolas too after he protected her dad so they have even more of a basis for building a sisterhood now. I feel like you may like 'The Dumbest Evil Plot? (Helluva Boss)' by MangaKamen. And if it helps your paranoia, I honestly just read Millie's behavior as her having her suspicions about the pregnancy and needing to prove to herself that she can still do this job that she loves and which is the source of her livelihood. Especially because she *knows* everyone else would be so happy over a baby. AND pregnancy itself messing up emotion regulation as badly as what Stolas was doing to himself with his meds. May be why this is the first ep we see her going for long-range weapons. Sorry for the ramble but I needed to vent. Hope you are doing well whenever this comment finds you :)
The talk about Octavia was... very personally difficult, for me, because earlier this year my best friend told me, outright, that I am a burden, and that I made things worse by being there, and that she only kept me around for... a very insulting reason. And all I've wanted is to talk to her, to work through our feelings, to find some way to be happy, because I love her dearly, but she refused every time, because in her view, all I was actually doing was ignoring what she wanted. Octavia and Stolas are painfully real in how they interact. There's an overwhelmingly powerful emotional core to this show that's often hard to take in stride, and that's what makes it so enchanting.
This isn't a dig at Skyen specifically, because your analytical yapping is so wonderfully insightful and nuanced, but I've noticed so many reactors (mostly male) 1. Didn't clock Millie was pregnant at all (this doesn't actually matter but it's interesting considering a lot of female reactors clocked it right away lol). And 2. Lots of peoples' first thought after seeing the pregnancy test is that she's cheating, instead of the simple possibilities of her not wanting it or being fearful of being a mother. I think it just speaks to the very subtle internalized misogyny our society has. Curious what others think
okay, no, I TOTALLY agree. I don't watch other reactors, but I (an AFAB person) and my roommate (cis lady) IMMEDIATELY clocked Millie as pregnant, and cheating wasn't even a thought in our minds.
I'm FTM, but yeah. Still clocked it. The puking didn't make sense since she didn't do that in Antartica. Even if she was bundled up then, she seemed just as cold now, so that rules it out.
Could you send more those who clocked it? I wanna see more of it, it’s always so satisfying. I’ve only watched a few and only Zamber clocked it so far for me. (Though most of the reactors i usually watch haven’t uploaded theirs yet, and those that did are mostly men who didn’t clock it as you said). Edit: just watched NSAF’s (forgetting her name rn, was it elijah?) she clocked it too, was nice.
Oh yeah, me and my friend were watching it (she’s cis and I’m afab), and while I saw that spoiler before the episode, my friend clocked it the second Millie threw up lol. Neither of us even thought it was about cheating, just that there’s a lot of factors that make having a kid at this point in time very unfortunate and stressful, and that’s without knowing Moxxie or Millie’s stances on having kids that could lead her to crying once it’s confirmed. Of course now I’ve unlocked a new fear that the writers might go that route for the drama 😭
With pregnancy being a female only thing it's kinda normal that most men won't catch it in a glance. Assuming cheating is a tiny bit concerning, I agree.
When you started talking about octavia and her way of seeing life resonated with me so much Honestly her situation feels so similar to mine just worse because hell. My mum always had mental health issues and its hard being the kid who cares so much but also hurts so much and you get to a point when you are just angry but even then you still care and worry its such an infuriating state. Honestly i love this video as a dubbed yapper myself i love how deap you get into this and i feel like all your opinions are super mature
I left a comment on the original video predicting a 4 hour reaction between the shot with Octavia on the cracking ground and the fight with Andy. I'm so glad I called that.
I don’t even feel like Octavia being mad is unfair, she has every right to be mad that he promised something and failed to live up to that. Now that doesn’t mean Stolas is just as bad as Stella, but he did betray his daughter, he let her down. Sometimes parents are good people and mean well, but end up failing due to their own trauma
1:37:35 the theory is that its a reference to The Magnus Archives! The 2 character are really similar to Jonathan Sims and Martin Blackwood, one of the most popular ships in the fandom.
after seeing this episode, i KNEW Skyen would have a field day with analyzing this to hell and back. 4hrs was expected really; i saw the thumbnail and the length and thought "yup, that feels right. i expected it to be fucking long"
1:37:47 He paused the episode and said "hang on these character designs feel way too specific, is this a reference to something?" so I took a closer look and went "wait... No, right???" AND THEN CHAT SAID IT TOO The Magnus Archives, my beloved, invading every corner of my life
2:33:15 I had the exact same reaction!!! All the trauma in the world won't stop the radio from constantly playing Mariah Carey (or in this case Cristina Vee) during Christmas!
My personal theory for Millie's thing, I don't think is the first time, I think she's had moments like this before, but has been unsuccessful, and this is a, "I can't go through this again" moment.
I personally gravitate more toward the idea that her lifestyle is going to conflict a lot with the responsibilities that come with having a kid, but this could be interesting! And half of the time, it feels like her and Moxxie are probably getting dirty the moment they aren't with the other characters anymore (sometimes when they are, too), so it wouldn't be crazy to think this isn't the first time
About the feeding eggs to a bird, there are plenty of birds that will eat other bird eggs should they come across them, and there's even some species known as egg-eating birds that specifically go out of their way to hunt for other bird species eggs, so in nature birds eating eggs is quite normal, though I'm not sure about owls specifically which stolas seems to be so owls may not be one that usually has egg in its diet
@damienearl8302 Most animals also have to eat their own shit or cannibalize each other regularly, even their own babies, given the right circumstances/enough desperation. It gets much wilder than most people are comfortable to confront^^
How much I love watching these makes me think people might actually care about my yapping too. Then again, I'm less articulate. Even in these off the cuff things, you sound so put together at points.
I like that, as full of raw and powerful emotions as Helluva Boss is, one of its themes basically amounts to "love is not enough." Love is not enough to be a good parent, good partner, good boss, etc, but it IS important, and it IS necessary. It's just not enough.
This show is so brilliant. I love the way they put the characters in a bunch of parallel situations to really explore the way each of them and their specific relationships handle them. Fizz and Asmodeus have the same basic relationship dynamic as Stolas and Blitz, but with a different scandal and no kids. Stolas and Octavia are either not communicating or shouting past each other about their traumas while Blitz and Luna are confrontational, but clearly communicate with each other so well that they can intuit each other's needs without words. Luna's father is also a dysfunctional mess, but he chose to lover her, and she KNOWS that as a matter of fact, because she is adopted, but the fact that Octavia's birth was a mandate from the Goetia family casts doubt on her father's love for her no matter what he says or does. All of the core characters are victims of a vast, classist, racist, strictly caste based capitalist system that dehumanizes (dedemonizes?) them. The suffering that that system causes cascades throughout all of their relationships. It's a bunch of fundamentally broken people trying REALLY HARD to carve out a life worth living in a world built to crush any and all positive systemic change. I am also excited to see a rematch between Stolas and Elsa once Stolas has gotten some working class grit under his talons. He's already WAY more dangerous in combat, and the only reason the crew didn't kill that ice queen is because he has literal immunity to death from their attacks. Luna would have twisted his head off instantly if he were any less important than he is. Stolas, a powerful Goetia, with all of his powers AND the competency, desperation, and resilience that being working class requires you to develop? He might be a match for one of the actual sins at that point. Love seeing your analysis, btw. I like your perspective on the show. I don't resonate as much with Octavia, so I didn't catch the underlying meaning behind her behavior.
3:50:35 OOOOO O O, Stolas noticing Millie is pregnant and assuming Moxie knows and just dropping it on him like "Oh congratulations on the baby" and Moxie finding out that way
*My autistic ass seeing the video is over 4 hours in length*
“OH ALMIGHTY ZEUS! THANK YOU FOR THIS FEAST FIT FOR THE GODS!”
Relatable.
YES
100% relatable
Exactly
Yesss! My thought exactly! I was all "oh, I'm gonna go buy some snacks and make this an evening"✨
Still not over the fact Blitz became a live heating pad. Those 'eggs' he was cooking when they came back, actually was coal (or brimstone someone said?) and he used that to raise his body temperature, and then crawled in Stolas' lap to heat him up. I love it when viv utilizes the fact they are demons and not humans.
i was wondering what that bit was for, that makes so much sense and is fucking adorable
Stolas: if I die you will be okay
He seemed to miss the fact that dying for Blitz is still CHOOSING Blitz.
Only 4 hours?
yeah I tried to keep it short and to the point
Can't wait for 24 hour reaction vid when finale happens

I bet 5 hours :(
my personal headcanon is that sinsmas is something introduced by sinners that simply missed having christmas.
would explain why stolas has never heard of it as an official thing and why it has christmas decorations.
Yeah, I could see it as something that was introduced by Lilith/Luci/the sins/someone as an anti-christmas if u will, but then sinners brought normal Christmas stuff to it making the holidays end up ironically not too dissimilar
It could be a very old winter tradition that morphed into Christmas, the same way Holloween formed for us
100% I think that's what it is
@@LycanMOONHalloween
I'm fond of the headcanon that Mammon saw how marketable Christmas was, saw an untapped market and invented Sinmas
My theory is that to "free" Stolas from everything that tied him to that place she decided to give him the cold shoulder so he wouldn't come anymore looking for her risking getting killed by Andrealphus
oh this is a fun theory!
Oo this is interesting. Alot of people talk about how Stolas doesn't express himself in ways to avoid being a burden but I suppose in theory, that can be true for Via in relation to Stolas she wants to take the burden off of him even if it hurts her to do it damn =(
i love this hypothesis, but i think something that subtle has to be more spelled out at some point ; like, show us her process so we understand her better -
@@nikoblack1272Agreed but I think genuinely some of this stuff gets answered later.

I think it's heavily implied that she is having an abortion.
Considering how Stolas dropped the ball with his kid ? Nope, 50 bucks says Millie is getting an abortion

Blitzo loves Applejack and I STAND by this. She's the pony's pony.
He has the Twilight Sparkle Keychain tho.
He loves Twilight cause she reminds him of Stolas
@t-1156... Let's not compare Twilight to Stolas... She's definitely more decisive.
There are different ponies for different situations...
Stay away from my Season 1 Twilight 😅
@t-1156 they're not even remotely close, dont compare my bisexual queen to that gay disaster
Then it turned out that same artist did the storyboarding and some of the compositing for *this* stolitz dance scene
Edit: I am an idiot the Sway song is by Micheal Bublé not Frank Sinatra
"Stolas is racist towards imps"
How could you say something so brave and still so freaking correct. Brother literally chooses to make blitz the exception.
I'd say more that he was but as he is now around them more hes learning they are not so different probably take a few more episodes for it to fully sink in

"Don't skip your meds"
So there was a time when my antidepressant prescription got delayed and it was going to be about a week (I think) between when I ran out and got more.

I guess being misunderstood by some of the less analytical parts of the fandom is yet another thing Octavia has in common with Blitzø.
FOR REAL
Not only "less analystical " but also less empathetical like everyone acts like they're allways self reflected, perfectly communicative, stable and not at all self centered. Octavia and Blitzø are a good and realistic display of miscommunication and misunderstanding
I have to keep reminding myself that a large chunk of the fandom, if not the majority, is literally younger than Octavia.
Not unless he's going to plan on killing her... Then he's taking all of the stuff. Which sets up a nice plot for season 3
@@saralovelace7219Yea, her title is a royal consort. No real hereditary title except “Goetia”

Viv confirmed in an Interview that they had to decide the direction of the show around the time they wrote Loo-Loo-Land: Adult joke show or roll with the relationship drama.
pretty sure she already had a vision for the show way before that and though funny was never meant to be joke show of course plot lines change and I'm sure its different than how she first imagined it
Sometimes it's not just a relationship drama but a full-on gay soap opera. And we love it. And I'm not into soap operas or relationship stuff at all.
Personally i am only invested in the show because of the relationship drama so i’m here for it
@@Chasodey Same, but I think it's because while the presentation is soapy as hell, the actual drama is very realistic.
Octavia needs friends So bad dear god I hope she gets some friends
Everyone in that family needs friends bc Stolas has Literally No One either.
I hope thats the role of Vassago now that we have been introduced to him; A genuine friend for Stolas.
THANK YOU!!! thank you for being generous to Octavia, the way she emulates the way her dad behaves almost to a T went through so many people's heads including my own on my first watch
I don't know why they wouldn't, but I love that the I.M.P and Blitz include gluttony imagery for Loona in the sinsmas decorations and such
Blitz seems like the type of dad that would want his adopted kid to mantain her roots to her culture, I bet he'd learn about Gluttonesse traditions and implement them in his house just to avoid her feeling alienated
course insurance in hell covers every thing
where do you think they live in? America?
Yeah, they live in Hell.
They live in hell, soooooo, yeah probably
Mean, but fair
"It's called "the world is burning down around me" by Fuck you, Dad"
Also Octavia's song was written around the time LooLoo Land came OUT. They've been sitting on it for 2 seasons!
4:27 I was gonna say either Dash or Pinkie, but Blitz is absolutely one of those fans that obsesse over one or more background ponies.
You are right, both that of the Mane 6 Pinkie is his fav, but also that even she doesn't breach his top 5.
He’s totally a lyrabon shipper
Well, MLP friendship is magic is a good show
Plus he'll have a whole truckload of OCs (we've seen some of them on his whiteboards) and he's a shipper. Not a sappy romantic shipper but the very intense kind that tries to cover how intense he's feeling about the characters by smothering every discussion about them in cracky comedy.
"You can't mock me for this Pinkie/OC pairing because it's a CRACKSHIP learn to have fun dipshit!"
stolas is slow as hell to understand anything, it took him a MONTH to realize he was poor now
It also makes sense tho cause Blitzø has essentially been his caretaker ever since his exile.
Very, very apt way to have that reflected in how he fights.
these helluva boss analysis videos are keeping me going rn, i feel so seen by your adhd brain
also, this is just kinda funny to me; the SECOND Millie threw up, I was like "Oh, she's totally pregnant." To see Skyen being like "Oh, it feels like something's being set up HMMMMM." was a little funny.
I was sure he was going to notice 😂
I was a lil surprised a lot of folks didn't clock that immediately in a lot of reactions.
Fun fact: the dance scene sent the Stolitz fandom back in time to a famous Stolitz SWAY fan animatic by Dark Crowl, where Blitz stands on dinner tables to dance with Stolas to the song "Sway" by Micheal Bublé
And the same artist behind it has since joined the team and did the storyboarding and some of the compositing for *this* dance scene. It all came full circle

@@justushagenbauer5337 I think it's much worse with the "Blitz bad" analyzed
100%. i wish everyone in this fandom understood that this world/these characters aren’t black and white. it isn’t “so and so is right, so and so is wrong,” it can’t be categorized. thats why the stolas/blitz arguments (and the stolas hate in general) is so annoying. its always “blitz is in the right! octavia is in the right!” and, i kid you not, ive even seen a “stella is in the right!” stolas is bad, sure, but that doesnt mean the other characters are better. like discussed in the video, octavia’s views make sense, but they aren’t necessarily right. blitz was right to be upset about stolas and the deal, but he also did some things he shouldn’t have done.
I do think is the masterpiece he talks about. It receives a lot of superficial hate.

This should be a pinned comment
YESSSS I was waiting for this video to drop. I saw a camera move during Octavia’s song and was like “I know Skyen is gonna love this” lol

45:55 I really appreciate how well your model handles the finger wag here.
We said he was trying to hide it not that he's good at it. The only person he's fooling is himself.
The red-legged Seriema straight searches for other bird's eggs and smashes them against the ground to open and eat them.

I will say, on the note of Millie's Pregnancy and where they take it, I have a few predictions (though they largely hinge on M+M keeping the baby)
I think a fun development would be that, since Loona has shown an interest in doing actual field work, if Loona becomes I.M.P.'s primary Melee Operative while Millie is moved to the desk with Stolas for the duration of her pregnancy.
I am still shocked you haven’t dropped vivzie-universe shorts or videos on their character design
Dankster's probably right there, though I think this could be really fun if they wanted to go for that!
Found your channel through your design notes shorts, and I gotta say I am absolutely in love with your content. I wish you only the best in life dude
Not everyone wants a child, even people who do want can experience difficulties due to their current situations, sometimes things just happen and its not always a happy thing
btw yes i watched everything and saw Skyen thankfully backtracking but i just wanted to point out because at some point it was almost unbearable to watch, i was glad chat was being reasonable at least

When I saw THE shot in Via's song, I knew you were gonna go nuts over it
The talk about Octavia was... very personally difficult, for me, because earlier this year my best friend told me, outright, that I am a burden, and that I made things worse by being there, and that she only kept me around for... a very insulting reason.
Skyen has such an open mind about scenarios like this, I think he can being world peace.
When you started talking about octavia and her way of seeing life resonated with me so much
Honestly her situation feels so similar to mine just worse because hell.
No, right???" AND THEN CHAT SAID IT TOO
The Magnus Archives, my beloved, invading every corner of my life
2:33:15 I had the exact same reaction!!!
He is an owl. I don't think they eat other birds'eggs, except for the Horned owl. But rodents are something that owls eat.
Some birds even eat eggs of other birds in the same species, nature's just wild like that
@damienearl8302 Most animals also have to eat their own shit or cannibalize each other regularly, even their own babies, given the right circumstances/enough desperation. It gets much wilder than most people are comfortable to confront^^
GODDAMMIT VIVIENNE JUST LET ME JUST BUY THE FUCKING SOUNDTRACK
Yeah I kinda like Via's song in this one
How much I love watching these makes me think people might actually care about my yapping too. Then again, I'm less articulate. Even in these off the cuff things, you sound so put together at points.
Stolas was going to die to Andy if Blitz didnt figure out where he was
I like that, as full of raw and powerful emotions as Helluva Boss is, one of its themes basically amounts to "love is not enough." Love is not enough to be a good parent, good partner, good boss, etc, but it IS important, and it IS necessary. It's just not enough.
A thing that hurts but makes a lot of sense, is that Stolas did not return the hug at the end of the episode...
0:04 a Skyen yapping in thier wild habitat its the tism.... I couldn't be happier 😊
When he started singing from frozen i was so happy beacause when blitz calls andrealphus elsa and it was perfect
3:50:35 OOOOO O O, Stolas noticing Millie is pregnant and assuming Moxie knows and just dropping it on him like "Oh congratulations on the baby" and Moxie finding out that way
THIS IS THE BEST EPISODE IN THE WHOLE SHOW
