HEDORAH (Riichiro Manabe) || GarageBand Cover

In memory of the legendary Kenpachirō Satsuma, what better way to honor him than with a tribute to the very first monster he ever portrayed in the Godzilla franchise. One of the most challenging (and certainly the most grotesque) of the opponents that Godzilla has ever faced, Hedorah.
I’ve always found Riichiro Manabe’s musical style to be rather unfit for the Godzilla series. His scores were always rather too experimental for my taste. But his motif for Hedorah is a particular standout, being fittingly weird and eerie, well-suited for such an unusual kaiju.
Figured I’d give this my best shot. This one was actually a lot of fun to do, as it was very short but also very different from a lot of my usual cover work. It allowed me to mess around with a lot of new ideas.

SUPER late comment, but this is amazing. I always enjoyed Hedorah's theme in the movie. It makes me sad that it gets dismissed due to people not liking the rest of Riichiro Manabe's score but I find Hedorah's theme extremely eerie and a nice contrast to the more grand and bombastic themes of Akira Ifukube and Masaru Sato. You did a great job converting it to Garage Band. Excellent way to honor Kenpachiro Satsuma.
