Although On The Bus is listed as a separate song it’s really the guitar solo to this song and you probably should have listened to them both together.

On the original vinyl, they're both titled differently. Wet T-Shirt Nite and Toad-O Line. Although they are separate tracks, as everything on this album, they really need to be listened to together.

Pro tip: some tracks are meant to be heard together as one song even though they are separate tracks. This is one of those times. On the Bus is a part of Fembot; its the guitar solo

This is an album that MUST be listened to in it’s entirety in one sitting. It tells a complete story. Including acts 2 and 3.

    It's a Coral sitar.
It has a bunch of drone strings which, frankly, nobody used. It's really a regular electric guitar with a Gotoh "buzz" bridge. It's a hard plastic guitar bridge with a flat section that lays under and parallel to the strings for a couple inches causing them to buzz against it like a sitar.
They were extremely popular with late 60s and early 70s rock bands because it allowed any guitar player to get the sitar sound made so popular by the Beatles without having to learn a new instrument.
It was featured on The Box Tops, “Cry Like A Baby”, The Lemon Pipers "Green Tamborine", that great extended solo on Steely Dan's "Do it again" and many many more.
I swapped out the stock bridge on a Danelectro 59 reissue for a Gotoh buzz bridge and can now get exactly the same tone, though the intonation suffers on the higher frets.
It's fun when you want a hint of psychedelia.

Most of the album has pieces of live recordings. Fembot happy guitar solo is from a concert.

MUST Finish the rest of SIDE 2. The best song on ACT 1 is Lucille. Last song on the album, and you would be at a great loss for not hearing it.

in the Toronto subway system, a 3-note sequence precedes certain announcements, which happen to be the first 3 notes of "Fembot...", perfectly timed. every time i heard it while there, i'd continue the song with whistling. fun stuff!

Can't listen to this without listening to the following solo Toad-O Line, in fact it's the end of the song, yet it has its own title !

At this point, in life most of the people who partied like this are just glad they made it through. Looking back, it was stupid, and we are evolving and changing. The Aliens (from outer space) are patiently waiting to make their/our acquaintance (or planning our destruction) are shaking their heads.

@@Alix777. Each tour bus was named Phydeaux. If you're not American it may not make sense because it's a play on words. A common dog's name is Fido, so Fido and the spelling of the tour bus would be pronounced the same.

One of many dog references in Zappa songs.
You appear to be very knowledgeable about Zappa.
Would you care to list as many dog references as you can think of?
Even the arcane, such as Patricia the Dog on the Them or Us, Francesco and Perfect Stranger album covers.
      Anything you can think of.

I was in Athens Greece about 6 weeks ago. I walked into a record shop. I was listening to what was playing in the background. Zappa was playing. I was wearing one of my Zappa T shirts. Store owner freaked out, he was a huge fan. Conversation ensued for quite a while. I returned the next day and gave him the t shirt. Look on his face was priceless! Was in Kalamata Greece about 4 weeks ago, wearing a Zappa T shirt the Prague boys sent me. Was renting a car. The two guys behind the counter were huge fans too. They gave me a discount and ignored the damage when I returned the car. I am going to send them a tour poster. You would be surprised how many people looked at the t shirts I was wearing. I was stopped about 9 times for conversations.
      IN GREECE! of all places.

It's a funny song but part of a i dono.. rock opera Joes Garage starts to makes since if you listen from the first track to the last.. it's a story and so sarcastic and 'Million laughs Mary' isn't this what living is really about? He's joking on this whole thing and going to absurd levels .. as is Zappa .. like him and George Carlin tanking the piss out of culture.. and with Zappa .. doing crazy music composure.
