i have a few questions/comments: - whats the purpose of the trapdoors in the center? - could an iron bar work instead of a glass pane? (same hitbox. it might be more expensive, but you can find them spawning naturally. and what about similar sized blocks, like end rods or even fences?) - does boat direction/angle affect anything? does the boat have to be perfectly centered too? - ive seen ladders typically being used to prevent entity cramming, but here we only have 3 villagers per pod. why would i need ladders there? - occasionally, spiders and zombies will spawn outside the farm, walk up to the fence, and the golems will go after those mobs. i fixed it by filling in the space under the fence making the fence taller - in a snowy biome, snow will fall and prevent golem spawns, so i have to light it up to prevent snow from falling im mainly curious about the trapdoors
I am not sure but I think The trapdoors are so the iron golems think they can get close enough to the zombie to hit it I don't see why the iron bar can't work I believe the boat has to be set in such a way that the zombie is within the wooden gate, other then that the rotation shouldn't matter The ladders are maybe to make the villagers bop up and down but I'm not sure Yes you should either light up the area around it or do what you did Yep, just try to put your lighting in spots that don't obstruct the spawning platform I didn't make the farm nor am I really that into technical farms but I believe most of my answers are at least close to correct.
By the way if you build the alternate hopper clock before you load the villagers the composters will mess up their pathfinding to the bed so remove them and replace them after done.
hey man! i built this farm in a realm and i followed exactly, spawnproofer the area and the pods are at the correct height and yet some iron golems are spawning outside of the fence! is there any way i can prevent that? update: It stopped working after a bit :(
so is this farm inactive if you sleep through the night and the villagers don't have a chance to hop into bed if the clock hasn't gone off during the skipped?
I built this in my world and it works fine, but doesn't produce anywhere near the advertised rates. And it only spawns 1 iron golem at a time unlike the video where it spawns three. It is in version 1.21 and I have double and triple checked that the pods are all in the right locations, that the dropper clock is working and that the spawning platform is right. It produces somewhere around 100-200 ingots per hour which is quite disappointing... If anyone has any ideas why this would be I would really appreciate some help. Iron golems are spawning randomly at each of the three villager pods leading me to believe they are all working properly. It's just for some reason they don't all fire simultaneously.
Try unloading and reloading the area high density layouts can suffer from reload rng, 200 ingots shouldn't be possible though unless you're exaggerating
@@bigbooty17 I have reloaded the area multiple times. I built the farm in the spawn chunks and have now been online for roughly 9-10 hours. In that time I have gotten about 2500 iron. That being said I have slept a lot of the nights away, I'm not sure how that effects the farm's performance, I am also playing on a server with other people. I am mainly curios as to why the farm is only spawning one golem at a time, as that seems odd. Have you ever heard of that issue before?
@@jkae4795 you don't reload the area if it's in the spawn chunks. The only way is if there are no players in the overworld for ~30s. If you're sleeping alot you should build the clock in the description as that's probably your main issue.
Don't the villagers need jobs in order to spawn golems? My farm completely stopped spawning them after a little under 4 stacks of iron. There are no iron golems anywhere near the farm, and I built it exactly how you did in the video, including the old clock design. I'm a bit confused. Edit: I got it to work. I ended up extending the villagers area by one block away from the fence square and placing 3 composters surrounding that block. I did this because when I looked up the criteria for a golem to spawn it said that that 75% of the villagers need to have worked that day/ been next to their work station. Edit 2: Because of this widening of the spawn area, I increased the fences' 'radius' by one block. The Golems are now all spawning within the fence and 3 at a time are spawning instead of just 1.

Likely your villager pods are at the wrong height or the location you chose doesn't fit the height requirement mentioned at the start of the video. I'd level out the area first and see if it fixes it, then I'd go and spawnproof (probably with path blocks)
One other thing to check if you are troubleshooting is whether your boat is centered on the pane. If it is off slightly, then it can influence spawn rates. I fixed this and it went from 1-2 golems to 3 much more consistently.
@@akaxyz. Direction doesn't matter as far as I know. I faced the boat toward the centered pod at the back if you're curious. For how slightly, my boat was forward enough that I could notice the boat was not centered but the zombie could still be shut off by the trap door. I found out it was a problem by watching at night to see that some villagers were sleeping even when the trapdoor was open. Hopefully that helps
@@griffin724 i think you meant fence gate instead of trapdoor, right? anyway, i noticed that when the boat is centered and the gate is closed, i could walk right up to the zombie at any angle and it wont be able to hit me. all villagers are able to sleep too
@@griffin724 well i dont have a problem with them sleeping. i never mentioned that i have a problem either 😝 when the boat is centered, the trapdoor can be closed, preventing the zombie from seeing anything, and anything from seeing it. otherwise, some villagers wont be able to sleep because they always see the zombie. my problem is that only one or two golems spawn, but i assume that can be fixed by reloading
Hey dude, great farm, one problem tho. I built it exactly like you did but unfortunately only one pod (the one in the middle) is dettecting the zombie, the rest of them are just sleeping as if everything is normal, is there a way to fix this?
The farm works but it only spawns one golem with a delay of like 10-15 seconds is there any way to fix this I've noticed that the front two villager pods lies in the same chunk as. The zombie but the backside one is in different chunk

I can't get this to work on a friend's server running PaperMC 1.20.4. I built the farm high up and the surrounding area has no blocks, mobs, or golems. I tried letting the villagers sleep for longer than the dropper clock allows. I still can't get even one golem to spawn. The villagers are being scared by the zombie. I'm not sure what the problem could be.
Is there any way to modify this farm to also farm string from cats? Been loving all the farms you do, hits the perfect balance between ease and early game viability as well as efficiency.

Idk what how large the highest point should be means but yeah you can build it in the air, how ever far down you have to dig needs to be how far the golems must fall
@@leonardodavinci02 all that matters is that there are no iron golems spawning in the blocks I showed in the video, you can have as many villagers as you want near the farm so long as they don't spawn golems in the wrong place
To close the fence gate every so often, that makes it so that the villagers can’t see the zombie and can go to sleep at night which is needed to maintain the farm
@@jurgy1 if you're the only one online you can wait in another dimension for a bit (can't remember the duration) and the spawn chunks will unload. Or on server / game restart it will reload

@@CamaradaRaufa i found a solution but it’s a bit of a pain. I basically just dug the inner blocks of the spawning ring and replaced them with trapdoors. But then you also need to expand the drop chute by one block all around. Now it works perfectly and the golems walk off instantly
There is usually a bit of desync, but if it's consistently spawning 1 or 2 golems, then the reload RNG that I mentioned at the beginning of the video is bad. What you can do is unload the farm and reload it to try to get the villagers to have their spawn / check for golem cycles sync a bit better. That said if 3 golems are usually spawning you should be ok
@@Headcolby Restart your singleplayer world or server if it's in spawnchunks, or if you're the only one on your server or single player world i think you can enter another dimension for a while and it will reset too
@@bigbooty17 something related: so golems werent spawning for me, but i fixed it by closing and reopening the fence gate. the villagers slept and woke up, then two golems spawned at the same time. im not exactly sure why only 2 spawned and not 3, but i think you might be right about it being desynced or something
the problem was there was already 2 iron golems spawned. not within that radius, but just in that village. i have some villagers set up about 2-3 chunks away that spawned some golems. i killed them and spawn proofed around the beds and the farm works fine now. i guess theres a cap of 4 iron golems per village?
Lightning rod prevents your villagers from being struck by lightning and turning into witches. The dropper clock briefly blocks the line of sight to the zombie so villagers can sleep once a night, which is required to spawn iron golems.
@@bigbooty17 i just tested using doors for the sides of the zombie chamber and it still attracts the golem while scaring the villagers and letting them sleep, ill have to try it with your farm design to see if it still works.
The spawns are inconsistent, the first time they were able to spawn 3 golems, but there's been more time they only spawn 1 or 2 :/ UPDATE: I've increased the lava size at the bottom so the golems will die quicker and I think my spawn rate has been constant so far, there has been time where 2 golems spawn and then 3 sec later the third golem spawn, idk if I should worry about the delay but so far the farms work great
Shouldn't matter unless you dug the hole too shallow, what likely ended up happening is that you reloaded the farm and the villager reload rng was better that time around
@@bigbooty17 Is there a way to ensure for 3 golems spawn? Now they only spawn 2 sometimes with delay inbetween, I'm playing on a private server so idk how that will effect spawn.
You can attach a hopper to the dropper and place 2 chickens on top of it for everlasting clock
i think one chicken would be enough. chickens lay an egg every 5 minutes and this clock uses one item per a little over 5 minutes.

It's a RNG based bug depending on how the villager spawning cycles sync up

I am not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. It works of the 1.15 iron farm changes, the earliest I tested in was 1.18.

Lightning rod prevents your villagers from being struck by lightning and turning into witches.
The dropper clock briefly blocks the line of sight to the zombie so villagers can sleep once a night, which is required to spawn iron golems.

@@bigbooty17 why not just place the zombie on top of a 1 block bubble column? the bouncing will ensure that line of sight is broken
@@O_______________O because you need to use the zombie to move the iron golems too, not just scare the villagers
@@bigbooty17 i just tested using doors for the sides of the zombie chamber and it still attracts the golem while scaring the villagers and letting them sleep, ill have to try it with your farm design to see if it still works.
The spawns are inconsistent, the first time they were able to spawn 3 golems, but there's been more time they only spawn 1 or 2 :/
UPDATE: I've increased the lava size at the bottom so the golems will die quicker and I think my spawn rate has been constant so far, there has been time where 2 golems spawn and then 3 sec later the third golem spawn, idk if I should worry about the delay but so far the farms work great
Shouldn't matter unless you dug the hole too shallow, what likely ended up happening is that you reloaded the farm and the villager reload rng was better that time around
@@bigbooty17 Is there a way to ensure for 3 golems spawn? Now they only spawn 2 sometimes with delay inbetween, I'm playing on a private server so idk how that will effect spawn.
@@blueytg6026 As far as I know no, it's rng by Mojang. But rates shouldn't drop below 1000 iron / hour even with really bad RNG iirc
