  • New parts made (no, not all of them) and we wheel three tire sets: the recently ventilated Pinseekers, the "ringer" set of Canyon Trails (cut, siped, dual-staged, Monster-Grip'd) and Vanquish Falken Wildpeak M/Ts.
    It was a nice day all around.

    Your enduro se series has sold me. Lol I just bought the knightrunner. Sheesh I like this simple truck to just take out in crappy weather or muddy conditions.

      I'm still impressed with the platform. And if you're looking for something to take out in the mud and rain, I can't think of anything better.

    Yeah that deadband in the motor is a problem! Looking forward to seeing how well the Fushion SE does in it. Glad to hear the Canyon Trails are king again!😀

    Thanks for showing the caster angle adjustment! I now get it, makes perfect sense. I’ll be doing that to my Gatekeeper tomorrow.

    Hello. Greetings from Serbia! Love watching your content. Can you please try rc4wd super swamper IROK tires? Thanks!

    Rock Pirate Rc makes some fantastic sliders, I have their Ecto specific set. For the quality you get the price isn't bad at $42.

    in my class 1 scx10-2 I use a Ruddog 45t 540 motor and is sooo smooth and torquey

    Think I’ve found the tire I’m goin to run (WildPeaks) on my SE. Nice video.👍🏼

      I'm comfortable in saying that the Wildpeak MT is the best performing scale tire I've tried yet. Looks good, good foam, works good. Same exact compound as the VXT2s, but seems to pick up less debris. I really like 'em.

    Tip-in “deadness” possibly caused by bushing stiction? Wondering if bearings thru-out would change that feel

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While I don't think bushings are helping, I think that the drop off in torque in 5-slot compared to 3-slot is the real issue. A 3-slot 540 can out-torque many 5-slot 550s.
      As of today, Baseline has about half of his bushings remaining. As parts get worked on/serviced/replaced, the bushings come out.

      That might be it. I'm running an H.H. Crawlmaster Sport, and it starts up crazy smooth,
      even though my oversized snow tires make the gearing too high.

    16t 5 slot 550 should be around the same kV as a 45t 3 slot 540.

      After testing so many motors so close together, I can say with conviction that, unsurprisingly, turn count or KV rating is only applicable to motors of the same manufacturer, and more accurately, motors of the same mfr. and the same "trim level." Because I have tested cosmetically identical products (in which I assume a common OE) only to have them prove to be significantly different. Five slot just throws everything out the window altogether.

    The Pinseekers seemed to show more potential on the other obstacles but I'll look forward to seeing how they do with some better slow speed control. Even though I doubt I'd buy an RTR tire on its own, I was starting to get my hopes up that they were giving the Canyon Trail a run. Maybe an uncut Canyon Trail if you have any mounted? You might need to get another SE and call it New Baseline if Baseline strays much further from factory 😂. Granted, they are other Element parts, we're already pretty far from stock now. I also really warmed up to the Sendero body. I thought for sure that I would ditch it ASAP when buying the Sendero HD, but I really like the body. It's reminiscent of an old Ford Ranger / Bronco 2 for me. Not that I would want a Bronco 2 for anything, but that vintage of a Ford Ranger has character. I still have the clear Proline 85 Toyota body in the garage since I got to be so partial to the Sendero cab and flat bed

      There's only one "mod" left for Baseline, and it's still Element "option" parts. I think I'm still within the spirit of the guy. And the wheelbase adjustment isn't my fault! The sold me a rig that didn't match the body they sold the rig with!
      I've cut ALL the Canyon trails. It's a free, instant performance improvement. I'm 99% sure the Pinseekers are better than RTR Canyon Trails. Better compound, better foam.

      @@CrawlerCanyon haha giving you a hard time is all. I really like the SE and seeing it do some tricky lines is a lot of fun. To me what you're doing amounts to fine tuning that any of us might do before going full custom chassis. I can't leave anything alone. Even the new Phoenix I bought in that fancy bundle, so the mods are included in the shipping box. My TRX4 was going to stay all stock until I found myself with an extra Copperhead. Now it has a Puller Pro and AGF A81 for steering 😂

    Well, how are we ever going to know if bearings actually make a diff if you replace 'em so soon? I can't recall, but have you tried a 5 slot in a portal rig? I have a set of those tires still in bag and a set of carbon rails coming...next class 2 build???

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The beauty of putting bearings in the SE is two-fold: first, I already have 'em all. Second, the whole rig only has 24 bearings in it, and there's only three sizes. A 10.3 or a TRX-4? Over 40 bearings.
      I think I've put 5=slot in portals, but... maybe not? Now I'm trying to think if there's anything portal'd with brushed in it, and I'm drawing a blank, so maybe no? The added gear reduction would likely help with the slushy drag brake... hmm.
      Did I hear another build? It's always time for another build. The correct number of rock crawlers is, and always will be, N+1.

    What is your opinion on sealed tires vs vented tires? Why do you choose one over the other?

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      CRAWLER TIRES MUST BE VENTED
      This isn't a personal preference thing, this is because a foam-insert filled tire is semi-pneumatic. There's air in there with the foam, and that foam behaves dynamically. When the foam compresses, it needs to displace air, and if the tire is sealed it can't do that. For the water-worriers, don't run open cell, vent through the carcass, and stop worrying about it. There is no viable reason to NOT vent tires.

    Do I need to use a thinner wheel since the tires are so skinny

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pinseekers are 37mm wide, so you can use any of the common 1.9" beadlock widths. I use the thinner 18mm ring wheels on the smaller stuff like Pinseekers, Trepadors, etc. Any tire width over 40mm or so I use a wider wheel.

    • @timmyd463229
      @timmyd463229 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CrawlerCanyon you mean the inner ring?

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@timmyd463229 Yes. The sort of "standard" is a 24mm inner ring. But there is no set standard, so you can find inner rings for 1.9" wheels in 16, 18, 20, 24, 27, 31, and 35 millimeter widths. And probably more.
