- Evolutions Pokemon cards were released in November of 2016. This month marks the 5 year anniversary for the release of Evolutions Pokemon cards. These booster boxes of Pokemon cards sell for $700 5 years later so I decided to open an Evolutions booster box of Pokemon cards to see if it was worth it.

My walmart just stocked a ton of galar tins with evolutions. Crazy we're still finding them to this day, but it's iconic.
I bought all the galar tins at my Walmart. All of the packs inside were resealed. I’ve never pulled a Charizard. Pull rates are 1:1,000 or more I guess

@@andrewmahabir589 bc I’ve opened tons of packs and these were the crappiest looking socks I’ve ever seen. Also, both packs that were inside were both sealed the same way(different sets). Also, I remember the pills were off too, green and white code card had nothing.

Have you thought of getting hold of a base set collection, I finished it months ago, actually wasn't that bad lol I found a lot of NM cards on the low at a flea market and LCS

i wish i had collected evolutions back when it was just in every single product, there was so much of it that i thought it probably wasn’t even worth collecting since there was so much of it everywhere but i guess i was wrong
Opening Evolutions in 2021 = Still more exciting than almost any other set
I remember opening these 5 years ago, I love the original base set design, wish they weren't so expensive

With my son, this was the set that got him into Pokemon cards. He still loves opening evolutions when he gets a chance.
I'd love to see a full 'Clay Art' special set. Those cards are gorgeous.

That is what is silly for me "PSA 10" card will be worth $100, but it cost $100 just to grade the card xD We need a new grading company!

Evolutions is the only set I have ever completed. Back at the beginning of last year boxes were selling for £150 and I took a punt and bought 4. Got lucky and was only missing around 12 cards so bought them off ebay and finished it. 6 months later boxes were going for insane money. So glad I finished the set when I did!

@@Sterben1 yeah it's all good. Not like I paid much for it. I had 15000 bulk cards I traded in and got a store credit of $1,040. Used that to get my box and some other products. Pretty stoked to keep it sealed. I have a feeling in 10 years an evolutions booster box will be close to 5-10k.

It's crazy how profitable Pokémon TCG has become that he could make a living out of it. Meanwhile a single pack of cards costs more than my hourly wage 😂😂😂
@@idontlikelasagne7211 opening cards now is a horrible gambling if you are looking to make money on it. Nearly impossible to make your money back. Flipping is the only way now to make any profit if any. With the uptick in prices and the more people leaving and less buyers without the quarantine money, pokemon has been in a decline.

i opened a old booster box and found 8 Charizard's, and it seemed ever booster pack had a full art, a halo, or ex. i can not make this up, i was really sick when i bought it, and i feld like a higher power was taking pity on me. 2 were the base set halo, 3 were the reverse halo, both m versions, and the ex. no joke. i paid $125 for the box 2 years ago, all cards are real.
I remember purchasing some evolutions boosters back in 2016. I often ask myself why I didn't bough more. The only good cards I dropped and have right now are three regular EX's and one holo
That reverse charzard was sick. Yeah I got scammed on evolutions but it was $250
Watched start to finish this is a great set and was fun to see that Rev Charizard pulled! I got back into pokemon because of xy evolutions and I don't think I will ever quit again because I regret having to start over fresh and seeing how expensive everything has become.
Evolutions is definitely one of my favorite sets! I’m so proud to have the Charizard and Blastoise ETBs in my sealed collection 🔥💧

Five years ago I started collecting Pokémon cards and evolution was my first set, I still remember the excitement I had when opening the first pack.
How much was a pack when u got back into it 5 year ago I am guessing 3.50 to 4.50 a pack right
Cosmic eclipse is the set that got me back. That set is so underrated it had 13 cards that sold for over 100$. Moore than any other set yet no one talks about it or reviews it.
I would really love to open a few more Evolutions boosters... A year ago, i had opened dozens of them, but now...
Story time; there was this one time me and my friend opened up one Darkness ablaze pack from Walgreens and it was a full green code so we sighed but then we saw something behind the revers and said DAMN and well what do u know there was a charizard vmax.
I really love opening evolutions. To get some childhood back that I didn't get to experience much. Couldn't afford to collect cards back then. Got a starter deck and some packs but that was it. Ended up with the game boy game and had a blast playing different strategies and collecting everything. To have a more affordable way to open up some of those nostalgia cards it's great.
Evolutions is just one of a kind although its technically a reprint! Everyone hated it back then, now its one of the hottest set!

Yeah that too. Nostalgic. Another reason could be that it was so often to get... randomly thrown in pokeboxes. Also: it got released with the 20th anniversairy. In five years, ppl are looking back at generations...

Raticate, Arcanine, Farfetch'd, Dewgong rare. Electabuzz and Magikarp common. Some previously common trainers uncommon. Non-holo Metwo. Types, weknesses, resistances and attacks changed in comparison to Base. To have some Evolutions packs or cards would still be cool but this set seems to have wildly mixed up a lot of stuff.
Getting baited by the Arcanines reminds me of the Ninetales bait from base set... Everytime... XD
I haven't collected pokemon cards in over 20 years. During the pandemic, I started watching TH-camrs opening packs. Fast forward to a time where Walgreens put out some random packs including evolutions.
I bought my first Pokemon pack in over 20 years. Boom, Charizard.
My friend who has been collecting since their childhood was pissed.
The coolness still there for me. The OG cards just make it so special 😍❤️😍❤️
Evolutions is a pretty solid set i definitely agree! It’s crazy how you can pull cards like the og charizard , but no og venusaur and blastoise to complete the big 3 !! It’s still really fun to open though

Wish I was into Pokémon 5 years ago. Love the classic set. 20 and 25 would been. Ice to have both! The booster boxes always nice touch. Sucks 25 didn’t do one
I really hope that Pokémon decides to do a theme box around the ancient mew cards for the celebrations deck! I think that would be amazing! Ancient mew is one of the most underrated iconic cards in my opinion. What does everyone else think?
XY Evolutions is literally the reason why I started collecting again after 15+ years. I would do just about anything to open a whole box myself, other than paying $700 😔

October 2020 I bought 2 booster boxes for $180 each and ripped them both. Crazy how far we’ve come!
I went wild during all of XY Era. Sitting on about 5k packs worth of cards that I just sleeved and put up... I need to get grading

Evolutions was basically the prequel to celebrations and it was my revival into Pokémon cards cause it allowed us to get the OG card looks with out the outrageous cost of base set card

When evolutions came out that was when I really got into Pokémon
This set was the first set I collected myself. Lots of good memories.
A lot of old school collectors hate this set but I got into Pokemon in late 2019/early 2020. This set is one of the reasons I got sucked into the hobby! The holos and reverses are mesmerizing to look at.
I remember when I got back into collecting back around 2017, there was so much evolutions printed no one wanted it. Still have a memory of my local card store selling booster boxes on clearance for like $50 a piece just trying to get rid of their stock lol. Wish I had picked up some to hold but oh well

Evolutions was printed more then any other set ever I heard. It’s still available in tins and I still found ets at wal mart just last year.
When i got back in to collecting it was right around darkness Ablaze... I pulled a Charizard VMAX and was hooked... I was about to buy a bunch of XY Evo booster boxes, but I remember skipping on them because I wanted to get into the newer stuff and XY was in everything... Man do I regret not buying them for $200 back then lol.
I can see the same thing happening with Celebrations.
Evolutions and hidden fates have to be my top 2 favorite sets to open, I get so excited just seeing them lol
I like Evolutions but the price for booster box is a bit insane, I didn't know that it had gotten that crazy. I have close to a completed set, I would say probably 75% (yes that includes the Charizard holo and reverse) and I've looked into buying the ones I don't have and the prices were really low so it amazes me that people buy the booster for $500-$700

Evolutions is still my favorite "modern" set that came out I'm glad I have a sealed booster box of it and I almost finished the set minus 10 cards.
I love watching people open packs and be amazed when they pack some amazing cards until I remember it’s not me and I can’t even afford a pack of sword and shield 😂😅

I opened exactly one pack of it and got Charizard holo reversed! Im lucky man. The one pack magic was in a pokemon box with 4 other boosters for 25€ :D
I bought an XY Evolutions pack at Walmart for only $4 last week and I Pulled a reverse holo Charizard.
Those boxes are so nostalgic i regret giving my cards away when i grew up to little children coming on a visit orso. Damn it i really regret

I joined along the hype tbh with Pokemon and I’ll admit that but I love to just buy and open packs and have fun with what I can pull. I don’t really keep anything for display and the first day I got into it I went to target and a local card shop. I got some crimson invasion packs lol and got a spring collectors chest of sword and shield at target which came with one xy evolutions pack, then I got a couple rebel clash packs. To this day that’s the only evolutions pack I’ve ever opened and it was a Charizard art on the pack and my luck was amazing cause I pulled a mega Blastoise ex full art card. I’m still not 100% how much it’s worth now cause it seems to change alittle here and there, but it made my day. Love this hobby.
