Hello. Thank you for this video. Dr. Downing said something of great interest to me at around 50 minutes into this video. He seems to see a great corollary between the Old Covenant and the New. This is of great interest to me because I've been led to evangelize to Jewish people for the last two years or so. He said the commandments were not given to them as "works salvation" but to a redeemed people to reflect His moral character. Are there sermons or books that I can resource where he goes into greater detail on this? Thanks.
We do have Deuteronomy 28 where God outlines the blessing and curses for obedience and disobedience. However, we can also trample on Christ's sacrifice. His sacrifice was not meant to cancel out the consequences of disobedience as much as it was enacted to make up for the gap in holiness God requires. I'm sure you know this as well.
