My 64 sat in my shop for years half way bagged. Shift work just made it super hard to get anything done. Now that I'm retired it's gettin the love it deserves. Keep moving forward brother.
Ah! I feel you. So much work could get done if I could just stay home and play all day every day. Slightly jealous about the retirement but I’ll get there eventually. Thank you Charles! Stay busy!
Sometimes when someone is really good at something they make it look easy. But you're right, he does an excellent job at demonstrating how if you do one step at a time it actually is simple. The problem being knowing how and he shows how really well.
Yes! That’s exactly it. One tiny step at a time. Each step is quite simple. Looking at a finished product can be extremely intimidating, and most people won’t even try.
Much appreciated, Jarrett! Things are going well at the moment. I’m trying to build some self discipline by maintaining a biweekly release schedule. That’s been possible because I also switched to a Sunday morning release so I can stay up late Saturday night if I have to. (Was up until 6am this has Saturday😳) I’m already in trouble though because I didn’t order parts soon enough for the next video. Anyway! I appreciate you watching my man. 🙏
I was worried about your little table, until I saw you brace it to the frame. Nice work. I'm building a chassis table, so I am looking for all the little tricks that other people use.
Yes! Are you documenting your table build? I will be building my first chassis table as soon as I’m done with my Wife’s truck in the next several months. I’d love your input!
Can't believe it's been that long. Glad you're back on it. I've drawn a full size profile of my frame on card stock I can roll out and use to make templates and check fitment. It really helps. Cool to see you doing the same thing on your bench! Thanks for another great video.
Hey thanks again for another awesome video, it really shows off your welding technique. Pretty smooth brotha😉👍. Like others have said, I really love how you make complicated aspects of fabrication look and feel not so complicated and doable. Not only are you a great teacher by your explanations of the entire process but by your humility and honesty of it. So, again, thank you and please keep up the great work. Can't wait for the next one 😝🤘
Thank you Rick! I’m thrilled to hear that actually comes through in the videos. I’ve had some really great teachers, and some not so great teachers. I wanted to pay forward all the help I got from the good ones the way they would teach it. See you the weekend after next!
That was probably one of the fastest 16:17 minutes I've seen in a long time! I was "what? it's over already?" Love watching you work. Very fascinating.
So happy to see you back on the mighty max! Also, I found those bolt torque spec sheets you were talking about; I will refer to other literature, and sources, before I set final specs when I need to do so, but finding that was huge. That was something I wanted to know for over a decade that no one ever talked, or knew, about. Thanks again, and keep up the good work!
Yes! Well done, Bryan. It feels good to be back in it. Every little thing I get done on it brings me closer to starting my own truck. Thanks again, Bryan!
I'm a metal fabricator and the best advice I can give you is that tacks are a lot easier to cut than full welds. Tack it, try it, adjust it, repeat until it's good enough, then weld it. Also, remember to tack it somewhere you can cut it. Otherwise, your fab skills are on point! Great video!
Thank you, Eric! That’s really good advice. But I like to live on the edge. There’s nothing I like more than struggling to get a part off that’s been completely welded from top to bottom. Especially when I’m on my back and the sparks can land in my ear holes. Cheers mate! Have a fantastic weekend. 👊
I'm gonna take a moment to have a rant. So far I have watched ALL of your content and I look forward to much more. We have many of the same subscriptions, Make It Kustom, Fitzee's Fabrication, Finnegan's Garage among others. You guys do some amazing work and I am continually inspired to keep up with my own build. I spent a few years taking care of the boss' off-road toys in Phoenix, AZ and finally decided to build my own, which had been bouncing around in my brain for a few years. Here in Saudi Arabia, my build is a 1983 Nissan Patrol and it is the only one like it in the world. It was never sold in the US; EPA and DOT restrictions, I suspect. 1995 LT1 from an Impala SS, TH400/NP205 and 1 ton axles. A D60 front and 14 bolt rear on link suspension with coil-overs. The only thing still Nissan is the body and frame but both are heavily modified. The goal here is to use it to explore the local desert terrain. The local's minds will be blown, though. It has been over 6 years in the making as I do it in my spare time but I do rent a small shop in the local area. For dirt cheap. My full time job is taking care of F-15 Eagles over here. I'm sure you see them on occasion flying overhead from Nellis. I've had an on/off, love/hate relationship with Eagles since 1986 and it is the ultimate hot rod. But, enough about me. I really enjoy your content and look forward to much more. There is enough grey in your beard to show that this isn't your first rodeo, you know what you are doing and I see that. I earned each and every one of my grey hairs as have you. Keep at it and Keep Moving Forward! All the best to you my friend!
I hadn’t heard of the Patrol before today. It looks like such fun! Like a square body Broncos lil brother! And with a V8?! So good. Can’t wait to see it. Keep it going my man!
@@GarageFab life sometimes gets in the way. That and as my wife says I spend too much time watching videos on TH-cam lol. But I’ve finally started the rebuild!
I did something similar with my crossmember but I made it in a 3 piece design so I can remove it. I'm building a 302 powered rwd ford focus and I'm fabricating the kit with preventative maintenance in mind and having it be removable will make it easier to pull the engine or just the oil pan if I needed. Hope you don't have to cut it up! Those mig welds are something I envy for sure!
You’re my type of fabricator, Jason! Most people don’t think about working on stuff in the future. (That includes production vehicle engineers!) I was just about to write that all work on this truck will be top side stuff, so I wasn’t worried about making a removable Crossmember. But then… I realized I had a lot of problems with engine bearings on the new motor, so removing the oil pan in the future is a very likely possibility. Hopefully I’m not hating life soon! I’ll report back to you. 😂
I always dig seeing your fixture work, simple yet effective. Thanks for sharing both your work and your thought process its really helpful to hobbyists like myself.
Has it been two and a half years already. I remember that Z front clip video like it was yesterday. Content has been gold from the beginning. Loved the behind the curtain look at the garage. The project truck/shelf/work bench is a real thing. And to repeat what others are saying, the welding close ups were great. My truck has a 3/4 frame and I want to do up the front so this vid definitely rekindled that flame.
Yeah, this time warp thing is crazy. I’d very much like things to slow down a bit. Honestly feels like I started TH-cam at the beginning of last year. Thank you, Coty! That’s what I like to hear. You out there grinding yet? Can’t wait to see it!
I've just watched your suspension series from 2 years ago,. after seeing the Watts link video. I subscribed and jumped ahead to the latest video to leave a comment. There are so many idiots with 200k subscribers on utube doing 'car work'; by contrast, your delivery, knowledge, and content are fantastic. Keep it up.
Looks great. I know all about that whole procrastination life. I'm embarrassed to say my neighbors think I've lost my mind. I went out and lifted my overhead door about 30 times before I finally gave up. I just wasn't gettin the same effect. I'm lookin forward to how you pull this off. You never disappoint us Aaron.
Haha! Took me a moment to realize what you were talking about with the garage door. I’ll let you know how I pull it off once I pull it off! All I got to go off of is an idea. I don’t even have my Bushings yet to test! See you in a couple weeks!
Love the intro. That's why I refuse to put anymore shelves in my shop. Because as with the mighty max, they become catch alls. Lol. Jeep rocking it. From off the grid in AZ
Haha!! So very true. I have an episode planned, (probably a short on April 1st,) about a pitched roof that I plan to weld onto my cheap craftsman tool box that will prevent anything from being set on the lid. Because EVERY level surface becomes a catch all. 🤦🏻♂️ Cheers, Terry!
@@GarageFab oh that's funny. True but funny. 2.5 years, that's crazy. I just got my block back for my ranger project. It only took 16 months. So I'm glad I've been able to watch your videos, keep me occupied. So to speak. But now it's winter snowing right now. My shop isn't completely enclosed so not much going on. But spring is coming and hopefully it'll be moving forward. Take care, maybe one day me and the wife will drive it to Vegas and give you a proper hello. From off the grid in St John's, AZ.
I hate to disappoint… No steering rack on this one. It’ll just be the factory drag-link steering system that will be shortened to fit the now narrower frame. (I gotta stop getting fancy so I can get this dang truck out the garage so I can bring mine in.) 😈
I still might! When I take it on its first test drive, in the oil pan rubs on the crossmember, either the pan will get the hammer treatment, or maybe I’ll take your advice. 🤔 Thank you my friend!
Another great video! Thanks for the welding close-ups, I know those take time to set up, edit etc. My biggest take-away was the erection of the cross-member support which served multiple purposes including indicating where the floor would be when laid out. Again, good welding shots! Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you brother! Happy to be of service. I’ve gotta change my camera setup for welding and fast. I’m getting weld spatter on my lens filter. Not cool at all. I’m not rich enough to replace that stuff… ever, let alone after a few welding shots. 😬
@@GarageFab - My welds are no where close to how nice yours are but I’ve thought about getting some welding shots with my B camera (usually a go-pro). My thought was to set it up behind an extra auto-darkening helmet. The helmet would protect the camera from sparks and also give me something I could mount on an arm/tripod as a unit. Yeah, camera equipment is pricey you have to take care of it. You are inspiring me to start posting more often. I’m videoing a Land Cruiser front axle rebuild this week!
Yes please! I’ll be watching. Lemme know how the auto darkening helmet works! I used a piece of tinted weld glass once and the problem I had was the camera couldn’t focus. The most recent shots were manually focused on the weld joints prior to shielding the weld. I think an auto darkening helmet would be great. It could focus first before welding.
Dude how the F*** do you only have 32k subs, your content rocks hard, your production value is spot on, must take you forever to edit. It shows you really love what you do and way you explain the complicated to us "simple" folk is much appreciated, look maw I'm learnnning. Also your funny and entertaining double threat and yes would love to have a beer with ya. Keep going in a linear direction, or something like that, right.
Haha! Thank you my friend. Comments like those keep me going. On this side, I’m like Holy S*** $32,000?! Magic is happening. We were at 26,000 at the end of February. Crazy. Thank you for spending your time here! Cheers!
Hello Kiora, stumble across your channel earlier tonight. I really enjoyed what I've seen so far. I like how you explain and work. very well done, learnt a lot. Thanks for sharing. Kia kaha
Haha! It would’ve had more time in the spotlight if my dog didn’t destroy it the same day I filmed that. 😩 I’m hoping it’s repairable. Thank you Frank!
Diagonal bracing with small round stock is awesome. I have an almost endless supply of F-15 main landing gear door hinge pins. About 18" long, 0.156" diameter and very rigid.
Another great video, and thanks for the close ups while welding, really great shots. I'd love to hear your tips on making such nice welds also. All your videos show incredible detail, soooo appreciated, thanks again Mankandy. Now back to watching this a few more times, as usual, then start counting the days till your next video
I might be repeating myself, but I’ve always been squeamish about doing welding videos because I’m not certified. I’ll likely be doing a technique video though soon by popular request. 13 days left until the next video. 😉
@@squirrelsworkshop I know what you’re saying. I asked a certified welder for help on my gates. I was shocked and annoyed by the results. It’s the knowledge gained during certification that I want. My welds look fantastic. But what if they wouldn’t stand up to structural testing or inspection?! My technique might be flawed. Should that type of welder be handing out welding advice?
@@GarageFab i see non-experts say "this is how i do it" instead of "this is how u should do it". Do you have a tech school you can take classes at? Many have evening classes for people like us.
If I don’t get the bushings I ordered quickly, I’m going to have to come up with another video idea to release in two weeks. I’ve been avoiding welding videos because I am not a certified welder, but I keep getting more and more requests for my welding technique. I might have to make a quick video on a technique alone. I’m just not ready for the backlash of how incorrect my welding is.
I get the wait! I’ve got projects that need other projects to get done so I can get started on the project I want to. Next step in my truck build is putting plywood in the attic 😂😂😂
Ironically I stumbled across your 4 link build video recently while looking at 4 link installs for my- 4g swapped mighty max I decided to lift and turn into a pre runner. Didn’t even know it was a mighty max when I had started the first video but I’m excited to see where this ends up. Your front lower control arm design gave me some ideas to retain the factory style arms!
Showing some real world, behind the scenes video of the garage fab “studio”👍. By the way nice weave on your welds, that thing is going to be the stoutest part of the truck.
Haha! It really is. Quarter inch wall is way thicker than necessary. HOWEVER! That crossmember on a bagged truck sees a LOT of abuse. So maybe it does have a purpose. Thank you, Brother!
Just discovered your channel last week and have been catching up on your videos...Awesome content, very informative with some humor...I'm coming from a 4x4 background and literally know nothing about modifying 2wd's. Started out watching your watts link how-to and I am hooked!....I'm hoping to start working on a 69' C-10 soon and will be doing a longbed to shortbed conversion first. I will definitelyl be wanting it sitting lower, ALOT LOWER. Your videos explaining suspensions and how to Z frames got me wanting to start cutting it up lol!...Keep up the good work, I know your channel is going to be blowing up with subscribers with the type of content you are posting!
Thank you my friend! Knowing this channel is motivating people to cut their cars up means I can die happy. 😆 Can’t wait to see this project. I gotta thing for C10s of all shapes and sizes. Hope to build my own one day. Lemme know if you’ve got questions! I’d be happy to try and help. Cheers!
I'll be interested to see how you get your steering setup. My steering shaft is now aimed directly at my upper control arm. I also need to find some thicker card stock than poster board. I've been half expecting to see garage fab branded card stock
It looks great. I would really love to see you finish out a triangulated 4 link video. I have watched your suspension series and am in the mock-up phase on my 49 GMC. If I understood correctly the links will need to be parallel and the same mounting distance apart. Since I chose not to cut the bed sides and went with the widest tire that would fit I am not able to have any side to side movement.
Must it be triangulated? Every time I deal with such tight tire clearances I chicken out and go with a parallel with a watts or panhard so I have the left to right adjustability of the axle. But yes it sounds like you understand perfectly. Keep in mind, I only recommend the top and bottom bars are parallel on bagged or juiced vehicles to ensure a constant pinion angle. Not needed for metal spring stuff!
Thanks for the reply and the clarification. I only have 1/4” of clearance on either side of the tire to the fender and bed side, so I really don’t want to worry about the side to side movement. I already had my York compressor, air tank, valves, and thanks to your videos mock-up bags.
Very nice! Thank you. Think your ready to tackle the Watts? No side to side AND adjustable. If not, a Triangulated 4 link will serve you well. I’ll assist where I can.
Wonderful work again Aaron. Liked the way you showed us how you were working the weld pool . What size wire you welding with. And I have tried to get card stock in Aus. Can't seem to find any, how thick is it? Thanks again Matt
Matt! Thank you. Can you get poster board? My card stock is just a little thicker than a soda box or shoe box. Honestly anything would work as long as it’s easily cut and has some structure. Paper would suck!
Do you have a video about frint suspension geometry and how to calculate camber angles and ride height, what control arms to use etc etc, not much info about front sus and how it works thanks!
I don’t yet, sorry. 😬 I’ve been collecting components to make an adjustable working model as a visual aid for exactly that but I haven’t had time to put it all together. If you’ve got questions I’d be happy to try and answer them.
Home run man! Totally dig the video. So awesome that you’re back on the Mighty Max! Been missing your videos. You do a great job on producing these. Look forward to the next one.
Did you notice any ✈️ in the background? This episode was a bit of a social experiment. I live on a flight path, and I usually wait for for the planes to pass before recording. And there’s a plane every 30 seconds. Very frustrating. Easily the most upsetting part of the whole process. I just decided to let them be this time and see if people complained. As always, thank you Darrin.
@@GarageFab Honestly I didn't notice. Two things in regards to sound. When you've got a mic on , they do a really good job of keeping your voice as the main sound. The other thing you can do is also adjust the db (that's not a typo) yes, the db to cut out external sound. Usually there is a range of -30 to 0 db. The closer you adjust to -30 you really nock out external noise but you also run the risk of recording your own voice at a very low volume. When set to zero you hear your voice really strong, but you also run the risk of a lot of external sound. Sometimes depending on your environment you may set it to -18 or -15, usually a safe setting is -9, or -6. And of course the maybe others who say differently. Either way it's easy to test and set it and come up with what you think is best based on your situation. The other thing is also production, and what your audience expects. First of all we love your content, we are a captive audience. Even if we did hear the airplane we don't' care. Your production quality is great and your message is always clear. So kudos to you and the great job you are doing. 👍
As always, Darrin, very much appreciated. I use the Rode Mic Go wireless lav system. There’s 3 settings of unknown db. We’ll call them low med and high. Medium is ideal. Assuming that’s zero. High is unusable. Accidentally used high in the video before last. Constant clipping produced terrible quality. I haven’t tried low and bump up volume in post. I’ll see what happens! I have been and will continue experimenting with lower quality production. Most videos are shot with the A7iii, LED studio lights, and the Lav. This video was 100% iPhone with the exception of the welding shots. Easier production would be much more sustainable. I might start doing some GoPro stuff too. 🤔
My garage was not that bad but close.. then I cleaned it a few weeks ago so I could fit the MM in there to start on it this summer... great vid as always
Do you try to avoid welding fumes? I never paid any mind to it myself until I started watching Pacific Arc Tig Welding. You should do a fume hood video at your bench. I heard you have a daughter in the beginning of your video. I have kids myself and I try and avoid those hazards now because I want to be around for them as long as I can. Keep up the videos. I’ve learned so much Freon watching all of your videos!
Thank you, Blaine! Lately I’ve been much more aware that I’m breathing in an endless supply of nasty stuff and have started to make some changes. I’m getting older and I too would like to stick around for a while. I have plans to create a fume vent for the garage and there will certainly be a video on it. But no, I currently don’t have anything like that! 😬
I got to be honest, I’m a pretty lazy dude. I really want to get this done so I can start on my own personal truck, so I think I’m just gonna go with the factory mounts on this one.
MK: Oh yeah card stock! I liked the floating bushing magic trick; film it on green screen next time. The drawing mock-up on the bench was great too. Perhaps you would make a small welding fabrication table in the future so you would have an excuse to buy a mag drill. I want put a removable one on my harbor freight scissor lift table. v/r wh
Oh mag drills!! I used one once and it was the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced. Actually was how I discovered the rotary style hole cutters I use.
I think you just answered your own question! If it’s been working good for you, no one can tell you it’s a bad setup! I’m unfamiliar with this suspension, so I can’t really tell you what its pros and cons are.
Nope! Original mounts. (You just reminded me I need to order those, thank you) I cut the mount perches off a couple years ago, and now that the crossmember is in I need to weld them back on. Thank you, Wes!
Don't you love that evolution cold saw? I don't know how they got it to cut so quietly. The last one I had access to screamed! Ear protection wasn't an option!
I don’t know if that’s a joke or not. 🤔 My saw is one of the loudest things I have ever heard. This includes gun ranges and screaming goat farms. HOWEVER!! I do love it. One of the best purchases I have ever made.
The chances are very good yours in newer. I was lucky enough to get it when they were still dirt cheap. I think it was their second iteration. Most of the noise seems to come from the resonance of the blade. Like cutting metal with a cymbol. Not sure how you could quiet that down.
@Garage Fab well then, it's high time Evolution stepped up and sent you a new one for free! Haha. Your videos have a terrific quality level already, I'm sure the free stuff will start rolling in, if it hasn't already. Are you still a one man band over there, or are you building a team yet? I know it's tougher than it looks. I've fiddled around and made a few videos myself. Only one that I put any serious effort into. Editing can be an incredible time suck, especially when you're still learning the software!
Thank you, Glen! Not much free stuff as of yet. Not in a hurry either. Sponsorships often gross me out. There won’t be anything advertised on my videos unless I love the product and I can write my own copy. It grosses me out when you see a TH-camr switch to obvious unauthentic reading. Remind me I said this if you ever see it. It’s still just me at the moment, though I’ve got some plans to do some joint content with @thefabricationseries Keep an eye out!
2 1/2 Years!!!! This getting older stuff is for the birds, time is going to fast. I should have listened to older people when I was a kid about time 😂.
Right? I remember my elders always being wrong. Like when they said “You don’t wanna grow up, responsibility sucks.” But there’s nothing better than freedom. I can eat what and when I want, I can go anywhere, I can stay up late, I can have girls over. (I’m married now so that one was only temporary)
Unsure what you mean. I don’t think this crossmember needs any gusseting, however, in the video after this, we created alignment cam bushing tabs that serve as very large gussets on both sides. th-cam.com/video/fxRap1HwYVI/w-d-xo.html
Really!? They have great music taste. I wouldn’t be surprised. The place I get music I’m learning is a really popular place. I hear the songs I use everywhere!
I really like the song with bass in then and not alot of loud rock song especially when they are playing in the background cause they get very loud during the time lapse portions I always watch with head phones so you have to lower and raise the volume at each scene change
I love your videos bro they never have any bad or uneven spots I look forward to seeing more I been getting sum of my inspirations for my 84 swb c10 from you
True. The factory bushings are angled though, so it would’ve been really challenging to form the crossmember so that the bushings would remain at the same angle. Not impossible, but far more work that I want at the moment.
Looks really stout, kinda surprised you didn't fab it out of 1/4 plate boxing where needed so you could drop your sides lower to the bushings to allow for more oil pan clearance. Essentially duplicating the factory original just beefier and boxed.
Damnit, Brian! Not sure why I didn’t 🤦🏻♂️ It wouldn’t have been too much more work and yes, less problems! I must’ve just had 2 x 4 in my head, and couldn’t see past it even after discovering the clearance issues. Let me make up a good excuse real quick… I didn’t do that because the bushings for the lower control arms are angled, and trying to bend the plate to match those angles would have been too much of a challenge. Believable?
@@GarageFab I actually didn't even notice the bushings were angled. Either way you can't go wrong with boxed tubing. It's probably going to be the strongest part of the frame at this point.
Haha! No doubt. Part of the reason I went with the 1/4 inch is this crossmember is probably the most abused when dragging. I don’t drag much (and the Wife never does) but sometimes it’s unavoidable. 😂
I need advice from someone that knows more about the strength of metal than me. I have asked around and nobody can give me a straight answer on this. What is stronger and better for a chassis build, bent square tubing with a mandrel or cnc cut puzzle, with inner support pieces welded together to make the whole frame? Really don't want to drop 60k on a bender right now if the cnc design with inner support is better. I can buy a cheaper one for exhaust tubing only
I’m likely not qualified to answer this one, but I’ve got to ask, what are you building? Do you really need the stronger option? Or does it just need to be strong? Here’s what I know. (Don’t take this as a trustworthy answer) Heat makes metal brittle and prone to cracking. The imperfections in the joints of a CNC built frame rail could also potentially make cracking more likely. So if you were comparing, say a 2x6 inch mandrel bent tube with 3/16 inch wall to 2x6 inch CNC built tube from 3/16 inch plate, I’d predict the mandrel bent tube is stronger. No heat hardening, minimal work hardening, and no sharp edges or crevices to contribute to cracking. But, you could simply just use thicker plate on your CNC version and it would likely make it just as strong if not stronger than the mandrel version. Yes, it will be heavier as well.

So much fun to watch. And don’t worry about the 2.5 years - my 57 Panhead has been apart for 20!
Haha!! I do in fact feel much better. Thank you Robert. But seriously, what the holdup?! Time to dust off the cobwebs.
@@GarageFab life sometimes gets in the way. That and as my wife says I spend too much time watching videos on TH-cam lol. But I’ve finally started the rebuild!
Haha! Those phones will be the death of the human race.
Do as you Wife says. I want to see progress! Cheers, Robert!
(That includes production vehicle engineers!)
I was just about to write that all work on this truck will be top side stuff, so I wasn’t worried about making a removable Crossmember.
My pleasure! I’m just a hobbyist myself.
Keep it up.
Thank you, Mark! That means a lot to me. Cheers my friend! 👊
That's some nice work 👏 killer cross member
Thank you Frank! Can’t wait to drag it on the pavement! 🙌
Thank you for being transparent...I too work out of a 2 car garage, with a 66 F-100 and a ton of stuff crammed in too. Good to see I'm not alone
Great, you are back. Your delivery, content and editing is fantastic. Cheers, Geoff Prideaux. Kangaroo Island, South Australia.
Thank you, Geoff! It feels good to be back. Hopefully to stay for a while. 🍻
Sounds fantastic! Just leave the money at home! 😀
I like where this is headed. Very interested to see what you use for a steering rack!
I hate to disappoint… No steering rack on this one. It’ll just be the factory drag-link steering system that will be shortened to fit the now narrower frame.
(I gotta stop getting fancy so I can get this dang truck out the garage so I can bring mine in.) 😈
Not having the fabrication skills you do I would've checked out making the oil pan a dry sump set up. Love your work!
Dang Aaron this is so cool. I am glad to see you back to this.
Me too! Honestly I’m just excited to start my truck but, each thing I finish on this one brings me a little closer.
I always stop by to check if you have something new. Never disappointed. 😎
I do what I can, Bob!
Kia kaha
My pleasure! Thanks for watching my friend!
Rocking a cat ear beanie on TH-cam that your daughter made you... You're a good man. 👍🏼
Are you also a hoarder of old parts?!
@@GarageFab I scrounge as much as I can. Old filing cabinets are a great source of 18 gauge sheet metal.
Hahaha! Excellent
@@GarageFab I know some "garage" welders that are better than some certified welders. If you got it, you got it. If you don't, you don't.
I believe our community college has some. I haven’t bothered looking into it just yet.
Excellent. I would love to see a video of just how you move the welding torch
Ok that was funny Sir. I snorted.
Clearly you get it! 🍻
Well hello fellow Mighty Maxxer! I’d love to see what you do with it!
Can’t wait to see this project. I gotta thing for C10s of all shapes and sizes. Hope to build my own one day.
Lemme know if you’ve got questions! I’d be happy to try and help. Cheers!
I'm glad you got this out when you did. I'm about halfway through doing a z notch on my dakota
Yes! How’s it going so far?
@@GarageFab it's a lot of work, but I'm happy with how it's coming out so far.
Excellent. Do you know where to find me if you need guidance. Cheers!
I'll be interested to see how you get your steering setup. My steering shaft is now aimed directly at my upper control arm. I also need to find some thicker card stock than poster board. I've been half expecting to see garage fab branded card stock
Hahaha! Not a bad idea. I just might have to steal your idea. 😆
Very interesting project. Glad to see that I am not alone in my garage organization skills. ;-)
What garage organization skills?! Thank you, Ronald!
Just loving the guidance and expertise.
Happy to be of service, James. Thank you, Brother.
Brilliant welding for sure
Thank you, my friend!
Will keep looking for it. The stuff we have is to thin. Thanks again
My Nissan Patrol project is just as messy if not worse. Keep moving forward my friend!
Clean it off, Bro! It deserves better.
@@GarageFabthanks for answering! Havent really found a good video about front sus and how it works on bagged trucks mostly are about the back half
Great work! Like they say if you can't make it precise make adjustable.
I’ve never heard that but I like it!
Thank you, Darren. 🙏
@@GarageFab - Didn’t notice them at all!!! Carry on!
I love your videos man you over explain and thats what I love can't wait for the next one
Two weeks is the new schedule goal, Gary. So I hope to see you the weekend after next! Thank you, Brother!
My garage was not that bad but close.. then I cleaned it a few weeks ago so I could fit the MM in there to start on it this summer... great vid as always
Care to swing by and do a little cleaning on mine? 😂
@@GarageFab sure.. u can shorten my rearend and make it 4 link while I clean LOL

Polyurethane motor mounts instead of rubber? Less chance of it thirsting the cross member?
I got to be honest, I’m a pretty lazy dude. I really want to get this done so I can start on my own personal truck, so I think I’m just gonna go with the factory mounts on this one.
Your garage looks familiar... I'm use to seeing a jeep ZJ sitting under the pile of stuff though. I really need to get that thing done haha
Well Mike, here’s your nudge. Go out there and put one thing away. All it takes is a small step to get moving. You got this. Let’s gooooo!

Oh mag drills!! I used one once and it was the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced. Actually was how I discovered the rotary style hole cutters I use.
Hi how good is my 2 sway arm suspension on my g wagon its been working good for me so far
I think you just answered your own question! If it’s been working good for you, no one can tell you it’s a bad setup!
I’m unfamiliar with this suspension, so I can’t really tell you what its pros and cons are.
I enjoy watching your videos bud!!! Keep up the good work 😊🤙🏻

Is the engine centered in the frame normally? I know the Silverado and my S10 weren't.
OMG, I hope so!!! 😂
Nice work as always. Love the videos
Thank you again Brother! How have you been?
Another great video , just wondering are you going mount the motor from the front of the engine instead of original mounts?
Nope! Original mounts. (You just reminded me I need to order those, thank you) I cut the mount perches off a couple years ago, and now that the crossmember is in I need to weld them back on.

Don't you love that evolution cold saw? I don't know how they got it to cut so quietly. The last one I had access to screamed! Ear protection wasn't an option!
I don’t know if that’s a joke or not. 🤔
My saw is one of the loudest things I have ever heard. This includes gun ranges and screaming goat farms.
HOWEVER!! I do love it. One of the best purchases I have ever made.
No, not a joke at all. Mine is downright quiet! Lol. How old is yours? Maybe I've got a newer model?
It’s still just me at the moment, though I’ve got some plans to do some joint content with @thefabricationseries Keep an eye out!

just a thought about underside gusset ... ?

Mmm yeah I feel you. Lemme know if that happens in mine. I edit with headphones in hopes that doesn’t happen.

Why did you not put the bushes inside the X member? Like the original X member. You would have gained lots of room.
True. The factory bushings are angled though, so it would’ve been really challenging to form the crossmember so that the bushings would remain at the same angle.
Not impossible, but far more work that I want at the moment.

Haha! That would rather unfortunate. I’m not even sure what I would do.
Let me make up a good excuse real quick…
I didn’t do that because the bushings for the lower control arms are angled, and trying to bend the plate to match those angles would have been too much of a challenge.
PUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, very show.
Brazil.
👍 Thank you friend.

🙌
Get a storage unit!!!! 🤣🤣 When you do you'll be surprised how much stuff you will put in it.
I have one! Ironically all that’s in it is a 4Runner, a battery tender and a ‘63 Honda Dream motorcycle.
@@GarageFab oh. it looks like more
No no, my storage only has 3 things in it. You saw my garage/trash can.
@@GarageFab 🤣🤣
Been there my f100 has been sitting in the garage aswell for the last 2 to 3 years ....thanks covid
That’s rough. Well, Al, it’s time to get back on it Brother!! Let’s gooooooooo
Subscribed with the first yt account before you could make a buck . Luv my mini! Someday i may try to make content.
Yes! Glad to have you my friend.
Content creation is an enjoyable gig! Highly recommended. Just plan for your projects to take 400% longer! 😩
can the music
No
If you were going to completely rebuild the front crossmember, then cutting the frame was totally unnecessary.
Explain! There’s nothing I love more than doing less work. If I missed that opportunity I’ll be quite bummed.
