Ash is a Simulacrum Pilot, or a robot with a human’s mind. In this case that human is Dr. Ashleigh Reid, the former partner and apprentice of Horizon who she reunites with in Apex’s new “Stories from the Outlands” video. After Ashleigh betrayed Horizon and was eventually left for dead, she was turned into the Simulacrum Ash, who plays a key role as an antagonist in Titanfall 2. After her role in Titanfall, Ash made her way to Apex Legends and has been in charge of the Arena mode, but it’s finally time for her to join the action as a playable Legend.
Due to the trauma of her “death” and the process of being made into simulacrum, Ashleigh's personality fractured into two: Ash, her cold, calculating, perfectionistic, and power-hungry side of Dr. Reid, represented by her robotic visage; and Leigh, her more vulnerable and intelligent side, represented by her human visage. In addition, she lost years of human memories.
also, she is the lady that gets killed in PathFinder's video, where he finds out he has a "child"

The same thing kinda happened to Revenant.
He was a pretty cold hitman when he was human, but when he was brought back as a simulacrum, he became a slave to his programming and could not even control his own body. People would request a kill, and he would be forced to do it. He didn’t “wake up” from his programming until a glass shard caused an error, as shown at the end of the season 4 trailer. Which means that technically he didn’t personally kill Loba’s parents; whoever inputted their names into his program did.
And now he’s just depressed and edgy, and so tired of living that he doesn’t care about morals anymore and just wants to mess with people 👍

I think Ash is undoubtedly the most interesting character from the Titanfall universe. I remember encountering her for the first time Titanfall 2 and instantly knew she was y favourite character

1.I belive that is the ship Bangalore's crew crashlanded hence why she gave him that look.
2. The funniest part is that for one of the reveal trailers for the Arenas game mode, Mirage crashed the Mirage Voyage which was his party ship.

Its her brothers ship, who went mia actually if i remember the text for her loading splash art called the fall, that shows i think her brother jackson falling from the torn open hole in a crashing ship, with bangalore trying to catch him. Most of her lore is in her splash art sadly.

So basically Ashleigh Reid (Ash) infiltrated the same science team Horizon worked in, to get the valuable energy source Branthium for herself and her own group. Reid left Horizon stranded in space and returned home alone as the hero and continued her infiltration for atleast another decade. The man she was speaking with at the start was actually Horizon's son Newton who Reid made sure wasn't in the building when her group was going to attack, so she isn't actually that heartless. (I mean she tried to be a friend and a mentor for him and also looked after him so maybe could be a redeeming quality about her.)
Well anyway, during the attack Reid got stabbed so in a panic she made the decision to be turned into a simulacrum in an effort to save her life. Simulacrums usually get coded to not remember who they used to be or what had happened to them to be made into a robot so they usually still see themselves as human. The latter happened with Revenant which understandably made him full of hate and the want for revenge. Revenant wants to be free which is why he's looking for a solution to off himself to finally rest but on the way he's happy to slaughter anyone who had even the slightest connection to the organisation that was responsible for his change.
The trauma from being turned into a simulacrum fractured Reids mind and at the same time she lost years worth of memories. This is how Ash was born. Ash was the cold, perfectionist inside Reid and now she had full reign to do whatever she wanted. Ash became a pilot striving for perfection in everything but she could never fully reach it.
The numbers in the first video are actually the access codes to awaken Reids original mind as it was before the change. Horizon thought Ash was her old friend Lillian Peck who took Newton in after Horizon was left for dead. She was looking for more information about her son which is why she was there to awaken Reid in the first place.
In a twitter comic Revenant actually came in to try to stop Horizon, so that Reid wouldn't have to endure the same hell that he had for over a hundred years. He wanted to keep Reid totally unaware of what had happened to her and actually have a chance to just rest like he wanted. Revenant tried to just let Ash live instead of Reid. But Horizon fended him off, Reid awoke and Revenant just shrugged, said: "Welcome to hell kid" and walked off.
Ash finally found the one thing that was holding her back, her humanity, her emotions and memories. She found Reid still inside of her mind and now she fights to remove her and the weakness she brings for good so she could finally achieve perfection. During some of her voice lines Ash's voice glitches and you can hear Reid fighting for control

I know this explanation is meant for DND but it cleared up a lot of confusion I had myself & since you seem to know a lot about this lore I am still wondering about 2 things. 1. Is it known why the organisations responsible for the "change" program codes and magic words to stop the human mind from realizing it's a sim & 2 Revenant doesn't seem to be split between Rev and Kaleb Cross like Ash and Reid so, being so stable, it could be assumed he died before the change and suffered no trauma during the process or being the first sim, his manufacturers did things differently, no?

For your 1st question, The entire process of being turned to a simulacrum is considered to be so traumatic so to adjust to that change it's just safer and easier to make the person forget that change ever happened to them or to just write them an entirely new identity. Your mind could basically not handle you being turned to a simulacrum which is why they program them to think that everything is still the same and that they are still humans. Like in a twitter comic, Horizon says to Ash thinking it's still her friend: "I'm sorry you became a simulacrum Lil.", and Ash's programming corrects her. Ash doesn't hear the word simulacrum, she hears Horizon say: "I'm sorry you became a pilot Lil".
To your 2nd question, Yes revenant actually died as a human before being turned into a simulacrum which could be why he didn't have to go through the same struggle as Ash and Reid when finally finding out about becoming a sim. It has never been confirmed that this is why but it's very likely.
And this is just some small details that could explain a few of these things. It's pretty unheard of that simulacrums in general have their original identities restored. In a comic Horizon said that Revenant was the only simulacrum whose original identity was ever restored. According to Revenant it was because of a desing flaw as he was just a prototype. He was never supposed to even have a chance of the realization of being turned into a sim but his programming malfunctioned.
Ash being such a newer version, she had codes put in place to wake up the original mind. Crypto found those codes for Horizon but warned her that this is very risky and could possibly go horribly which is just what happened. The codes were supposed to give control back to Reid but they failed and just woke up her mind and Ash is still in control. Reid is basically going to live through hell because the codes didn't work.

It's also so intriguing that the whole Simulacrum Concept has so much depth & all these little intricacies/caveats that stop it from being simplified as "You die, come back in robot, good to go! 👍".

9:35 Yes it's a new map, It's a tropical island which is called Storm Point. It's 15% larger than World's Edge which is an old map from Season 3.
There's four maps
Kings Canyon which is from Season 1• World's Edge which is from Season 3• Olympus which is from Season 7• and the new one Storm Point Season 11,

I find it really cool because Ash was turned into a simulacrum, where a persons mind is uploaded into the robot body (the same a revenant). Its especially cool that she is in Apex as she was one of the main villains from Titanfall 2.

The context of the first trailer is that simulacrums think that they are humans, and Horizon got some codes to wake up Ash and show her the truth. Ash has two personalities, the bad one (ash) and the good one (Dr. Raid), but ash seizes the body, and now seeks revenge against horizon
In the second trailer, they arrived on the island because they are looking at Bangalore´s brother, he crashed his ship on the Island and he survived, but the territory is infested by creatures that are attacking everybody, and yes is a new playable map in the game

Glad y’all loved it!! And yes the new island is a new map that we are going to be able to play on. And to clarify with ash, dr Reid’s mind was put into the robot(ash) because she was going to die, but they couldn’t upload all her memories as well so they stored them somewhere else with codes and when horizon was speaking the codes to ash, dr Reid’s human self started to come back alive. Ash though wants dr Reid’s human self gone so there is to egos in one robot basically.

Interesting fact from Hans (i.e. from me): Ash is one of the bosses of the Titanfall 2 game who blew up the complex in order to kill the main character (but we survive and kill her)

It's so stimulating to finally be able to play as one of my favorite Titanfall 2 characters, because I just love Ash. Her abilities are also really cool and I think you'll like watching her character trailer since it'll showcase what she does

Great video as always, really twisted trailers this time but really good aswell.
A little in the lore here: Ashleigh Reid was a Titan Pilot (which are the greatest warriors in this universe) that seem's to have a split personality, the crazy Rambo-like murderer (Ash) and the "soft" Dr.Reid (we don't know who was in control in the Horizon event or the attempt to steal the energy crystals that lead to she getting shiskebab'ed but looks like it was Ash). In the mind transferece Ash takes the control and "lives" as a Pilot mercenary in the group of the "Apex Predators", the toughest Pilots that the money can buy. Yet, in Titanfall 2 she gets squished a little bit by the prota, wich several years after leads to Pathfinder saving her for being recycled.
Now, in a comic that work's as prequel for the 1st trailer, Horizon tries to wake up the identity of the person inside Ash's body, while Revenant tries to stop Horizon of dooming another simulacrum to a a very cruel reality, but fails, so, when Horizon says the number sequence that appears in the video, Ash and the Dr. Reid get to meet once again, with the results that you now know.

Yea the difference between Ash and Revenent are that Revenent didn't know he was Simulacrum becasue it was not his free will to become one. Where Ash let herself to become one and her alter ego knows that she is one.

I was wondering what my birthday video would be. I'm an avid Apex fan been playing since week 2 and have been platinum since season 3. They say Ashleigh has always had a split personality disorder which is why she was having that back and forth conversation but I like to think there was a ghost in the machine. Ash is on noone's side but in a comic that came before this trailer,horizon used her Sherlock Holmes skills with the help of pathfinder,and she thought ash is her friend Lilian Peck,but she forgot her human self and needed to be woken up.
So she asked crypto to find some codes for her cause every simulacrum has some numbers that will remind them of themselves,and wanted to wake ash up with those codes but revenant found out and he knew the pain and suffering and the trauma when a simulacrum sees their real self so he tried to stop horizon
But she actually did it and she was in for a shock
The codes made another personality in ash and now she has two personalities in game: "ASH"and"liegh"
There are some super cool and dark voice lines where liegh trise to take over with a very glitchy voice but fails like

Hey remember when you watched the season 9 trailer? And you see that robot at the end with the orange eyes? That's Ash. She ran the Arenas in the Apex Games before joining herself. When we see her in that trailer she just isn't wearing her mask.

Revenant had a glitch, being a Older model of simulacrum hè had this bug when hè got that glass shard in his neck so hè regain his memories without a number code, ash however needed a code hense all the numbers at the start.

You should react to the interaction voice lines between the legends for season 11 because certain legends that have connections to other legends (Loba and Revenant for example) have different interactions voice lines that correspond to their lore and it's quite interesting

Basically when ash got rebuilt her personality basically broke and hardened to be heartless but then she heard her access code which awakened Leigh

The way you are made in to a simulacrum is so dramatic that it can break your mind and in her case it was so hard that it separated her "good" and "evil" sides in to two personalitys that are aware of each other.

It’s more so that she’s villain esque and revenant is villain esque. They don’t always team up but in that battle in escape island it looked like all the villain characters were on same team 🤗

Not sure you already know this this is an old video, but I feel obligated to share this fact after I discovered it.
Amelie Paquette (Wattons Grandmother or Mother I'm not sure) was the one who stabbed and killed Ash when she was a human, which brings light that scene where Ash slices and stabs Wattson in the Launch Trailer. That was personal.

The end of Ashes to Ash is a continuation of a comic series released on their Twitter (I think?) but you can find videos on TH-cam that put them all together. I don't want to spoil anything but her "waking up" sequence makes a lot more sense and also has some very cool character interactions

What I get her is Ash is the doctors Ego without the id.
As I understand it she was evil the whole time but now the robot form is just the evil parts.
Ash and rev are simulacrums. They died as humans and got put in robots

P.s the way, they brought my favorite weapon: SMG CAR (that gun in the hands of mirage) and by the way it was taken from Titanfall 2 and there he had almost zero recoil and a small spread (so they didn't even aim at that gun, but shot from the hip)

Tldr, the early days of simulacrum project by Hammond Robotics aka Revenant who I am pretty sure is the first ever simulacrum were imperfect and thus he realized he was human when the programming broke. And for Ash's case, usually you would need to sign up a volunteer list to become simulacrum slowly but due to her dying and the rapid requirement to transfer her, the process wasn't perfect and now it causes her split personality or how I like to call it, she's suffering dementia
How do you know that normally you'd become a simulacrum slowly? Is there any piece of lore that I missed about that?

@@TheNamesAcorn i probably heard it from someone else's, but still the thing is usually you would expect the human to takeover after realising they are simulacrum aka Revenant, but Ashley got Ash taken over instead probably due to the process of procedure being accelerated well ahead of schedule. You wouldn't expect to do a emergency simulacrum operation now would you?
My boy Revenant is an immortal killing machine, yet get killed every trailer. By people worse than him, Ash and Rev are very similar power wise. Oh yeah Caustic gets shit on a lot as well, WTF?

so far ash is the ONLY actually REAL pilot in apex legends, that just goes to show that pilots on a whole new level, Bangalore and her brother fought 1 and thanks to plot armor won but im glad even there you can tell pilots are like ....your chances against them are very slim, i have a feeling mirage might be one too , cuz by the lore hes got serious skills on top of that he plays the part a fool the real him is very very different plus i dont know if respawn scraped or abandoned the story they were going for that among the legend an agent was placed could be eliot

On today's Explanation from The Outlands, we have the idea of simulacrums, and Ash's personality situation. To be brief, simulacrums are humans who transferred their consciousness or personality into a robotic form. Simulacrums like Revenant show us that when they're created however, they can only regain their original personality through hearing their source code. But Ash has a strange case. Even though she had her source codes said out to her by Horizon, she is in the middle of a battle between her human side, Ashleigh, and her Simulacrum side, Ash. The reason for this is because of the urgency of Ashleigh's transfer to a simulacrum, her personality was trapped, and somehow lived on alongside her Simulacrum side until she heard the source codes.
Hmm...Interesting theory about the reason behind Ash's current split personality, I thought it was because the access codes to her original personality (Ashleigh Reid) failed like Crypto said they might & caused Ashleigh to only gain partial control while Ash is still mainly in control

Her cockiness was definitely earned. Ash was apart of the Apex Predators. A group of Pilots who were some of the most feared. The Legends in their own rights are very strong, but you have to remember is that the Apex Games at the end of the day is nothing more than a gameshow really. Whereas Pilots were trained killing machines.
