This has been planned for a long while. Now I know not all these fish will be rare to everyone due to where you are in the world, but for my, all of these fish are ones that I do not see regularly in fish shops around me. I loved the idea of making a big tank with lots of shoals of nano fish and am stupidly happy with the result. It's a bit of a dream tank for me to be honest...well, maybe double the size would be the ultimate dream...maybe one day! 😊

I currently set up a no filter/heater/co2 3 gal planted globe.
Tropica substrate and heavy planted mini dwarf hair grass.
Custom made mount with Fluval nano led on it.
Do you foresee any problems having 5 pure red line shrimp in there? Also think dwarf hg will thrive without co2?

Interested to see a follow up to this in a month or so. I keep CPD’s, Rosquito Rasbora and Cherry Shrimp a similar, but smaller set up. I’m upgrading to a 4’ this spring and was planning a similar set up. I’m in Plymouth and pass Taunton regularly, so need to check out that store for bog wood. I’ve always found the CPD’s very sensitive to water changes, hope yours fare ok. Always tended to almost drip acclimate the fresh water in. Pain in the arse, but not lost a single CPD since doing it, and now they’re breeding, so very happy with water conditions.

With the baby shrimp, pest snails v’s assassin snails & misquote Rasbora darting around it’s meals on wheels in there. But, I do get half a dozen hatch each time. They all seem to of settled and maintain balanced numbers. Natural population control.

I did have a lot of trouble with gravel and all of the silt attached to it, and the first one, I didn't rinse the gravel, so I had to take it all out and clean the gravel. There was so much silt! I was terrified of putting it down the drains, and I dumped the silt outside on the gardens (which were covered in snow so it's not pretty!) I saw you put it down the drain, and I just gasped. Then you explained how you flush out the drains, so I guess it should be okay, just people at home, beware! Great videos though, you're my favorite aquarium guy.🐟🐠🐡🐠🐟

That looks fantastic! Wish my 250L aquarium looked like that!
I do have a question though if possible, you may have covered this but when you want to re-scape and completely change an aquarium decor and substrate. What's the best way to do it with fish already in the tank? This year I plan to redo my 250L EA freshwater 900.

I set up a platuc tub/tote to put the fish in while I'm doing a complete rescape. I use the water from the tank and a pre cycled sponge filter if it's going to take me a longer time

This is beautiful, and you're right, I think this is my new favorite tank! And they're the luckiest and happiest fish ever! Great job on the tank! I'm going to share this with my mom and sister. Growing up my parents raised fish for the different pet stores around, mainly I remember Angel Fish. They raised some that would lay eggs on pieces of slate. I can't remember the name of those. We had a great experience raising and learning about aquariums and fish. I think that's why I love your videos so much too. They remind me of my childhood.

I highly recomend going to your local creek/river to get cool completely natural hardscape for your aquarium, its super cheap (just the cost of the gas to get there) and you can get some amazing rocks of any size you want for free. Make sure you're on public property and not taking too much or selling what you take (so you aren't breaking the law). It is also incredibly fun to do.

I have a 150 gallon planted and about 10 years ago I stocked it with 175 green neon tetras, unfortunately the green neons are gone.
