I totally got what the film was about at the time back in 2001 and still adore in now in 2020. As a matter of fact I bought the movie today along with 2 other lesser films I care about as a triple feature because I love the film that much. So not ashamed!!

I didn’t know others enjoyed this film. I saw it In theatres and loved it so much. Alan cumming and Parker posey? All the mtv slams? It’s right up there with spice world. Richard O’Brien and I think meatloaf. No sarcasm, not my kinda movies normally but I love em. Legally blonde, 1 and 2, romy and Michelle, and clueless are also great. 10 things I hate about you? Meh. Are there any I forgot?

I understand that people didn’t get this movie.
I don’t understand WHY people didn’t get it. It was brilliant satire, with kickass music with fun actors, an interesting premise and just a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

As soon as I heard the evil producer lady going "We've filled your world with advertisements." when i watched the movie the other day and just went "OH IT'S THE LORE!" and i was immediately in love.

The tragedy that is this movie is how dirty the marketing team went about hyping up this film. This was a great satire film.Poking fun that we are living in a product placement age or the disgarding of trends. And not just that the fact that racheal leigh cook was done wrong...like seriously that poor woman had been a darling in the 1990s then after this movie tanked(which it shouldn't have just saying )had her career tank with it...The marketing team were marketing it for like 10 year olds when it should have been marketed to young adults who would have realized what the film was really about. For example the boy band dubour was a play on the fall of the 90s boyband. While josie and the pussycats were a take on the rise of pop punk.Edit:Also there are over 70 different product placement ...second chance another youtube channel did a great job on covering this film too. Also fun fact apparently none of the product placements were paying to be in the movie. So this movie basically gave them free marketing...sigh.

This movie was based of the Comic Book Series and the Hanna-Barbera cartoon show with the same name (same with Josie & The Pussycats in Outer Space)!

I know you made this awhile ago,(new subscriber by the way, love your energy and style!), and I know this is random, but I think Melody's hair being straighter is excusable with the New York humidity.

Entertaining video, but your conclusions are confusin’. Are you saying a satire can’t be a legitimately good film? What’s the distinction? Also gotta disagree that this is “so bad it’s good.” It’s a 100% competent film that hits its targets. It’s just good. Maybe not great, but it knows what it’s doing. Contrary to what you state, self-awareness is what’s necessarily lacking from so bad it’s good films. It’s why Tommy Wiseau can’t recreate the malformed but beguiling madness of The Room, or why the Birdemic sequels lost their magic-being in on the joke removed the car wreck appeal of the original. But 100% agree the music slaps. For more cinematic prognostication on the warped dynamics of mass media, A Face in the Crowd is a classic which also highlights a big machine console that’s used to manipulate the masses. Thanks!

Invisible Dude, you should review Scooby-Doo (2002) and Monsters Unleashed (2004).
