    To go along with ”practice, not magic” when someone is good at someone, I try my best to call them ”skilled” in place of ”talented”. I feel like telling someone they're skilled puts the success directly into their hands opposed to just being something their born with.
    I seem to have been born with an inmate sense of mentally accessible colour theory. I don't always know what colors ”look best together”, as a good amount of the time that's personal opinion, but I don't have to look at a color wheel to match colors and I never have. I also have the wheel memorized to the 4th place and can tell you all the different color combos and contrasts to make them do what you want in the piece. I still prefer to think of it as skill because although I have an innate sense of what colors look good (again imo) and I know the importance of red purples vs Blue purples and how to apply that when mixing colors; I learned it. I then put it into practice and although I may not ever need a color wheel, I still do like to learn everything I can about the subject.

    Hello from Croatia!
    As a wannabe painter, I've discovered you through anatomy lessons and then tore through your fabric playlist. You are an awsome teacher. You're clear and straight-forward in giving the how and the why of what you're doing. You're detailed and logical. I love your hashtags. XD
    Thank you for making these and making them free.
    My only problem is that you are feeding my instnct to try and substitute skill with supplies. XP
    Gotta go practice. Take care.

    That was awesome! Not sure I will ever render an iridescent fabric but I learned a ton about blending, mixing media and color interplay. You are a badass, Zoe!

    Using a hairdryer carefully can speed up the time waiting for your paint to be 410% dry. Thanks for another really useful video!!

    • @victoriaandrews4547
      @victoriaandrews4547 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      But doesn't that move the paint? I think things like that would only work for markers.

    • @zoehongteaches
      @zoehongteaches  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never dealt with hairdryers so I can't say but Anglea, I imagine it would only move the paint if you had very wet paint or even puddles. I think if you're using a dryer, I'd wait until the paper was just damp and you can speed up the end. Knowing me though and my paranoid self, I'd lightly lay a sheet of tracing paper on top just in case.

    THANKS ZOE, how about using iridescent paints, would that work to give the feel of the material as a under painting

    • @zoehongteaches

      I've never worked with iridescent paints, but I prefer to control where the separate colors go.

    Hi Zoe, i've been watching your video since i started my own business and your video helped me a lot!! can you please cover a video regarding fashion schedule? meaning for example when designers start designing for SS19 (assuming Magic or LA Market), when do they start planning? how long before SS19 season starts? what is a general yearly calendar as a fashion designer? hope you cover this video XD!!

    • @zoehongteaches
      @zoehongteaches  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, because all companies follow different schedules depending on market, what shows they attend, how many seasons they produce, whether they produce domestically or internationally or both, etc, etc etc.

    I think chartpak is the best - the tip and the juiciness. they just don't have the color range. plus a lot of supply stores don't carry a robust offering of chartpaks. but if chartpak were as robust as copic or prisma, i would ONLY use chartpak. but now i have gono to computer: auto desk sketchbook. my life had changed. lol!

    Translation for explanation around minute 21:15 "You need brushes for fingernails & each finger has it's purpose" hehehe wouldn't be awesome if the art supply stores come up with finger nail brushes?. Love U Zoe
    n.n

    • @zoehongteaches
      @zoehongteaches  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yo, you can get finger nail brushes at beauty supply stores. Or you can get brushes that are sized 10/0 and they're like 3 eyelashes banded together. hahahahaha

    • @coreartalex6708
      @coreartalex6708 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would make Logan rating "Rouge" instead or "R" ? haha ... I know too cheese n.n
      Hey and Fredy's claws also could be brushes .... I would rebrand that one "Brush strokes on Elm Street"
