    The SNES port is impressive, very faithful to the Arcade.

    My suggestion is to play the SNES port if you're alone and the original arcade when you have friends over.

    If the SNES had a CD add-on this would basically be an ''Arcade Perfect Port''

      Close. It’s still missing other SFX and tons of animation frames. Something about the SNES sound is better imo, it’s got more punch to it

    Arcade:
    2-4p. Tons of animation frames. More dynamic audio with that “twang” sound. SFX isn’t as impactful as it should. Smooth scaling effects. Some input commands are random like throwing the foot at the screen.
    SNES:
    2p. Less sounds SFX/voice clips. Attack sounds have more impact. Rearranged OST with deeper bass. Additional levels and vs mode. Rearranged bosses. Slightly faster/tweaked gameplay, running and throwing the foot at the screen are now input commands.
    In the end both are great games each with its benefits. Get the Cowabunga Collection to get that plus the genesis version The Hyperstone Heist

    Much more ''impact'' and ''punch'' on the Snes version. I prefer this to thé better arcades animations. In the Snes version you can also dash (double TAP on left or right), wich give a better Dynamic to the game.

      This is so much true. And there is more: the original game has the absolutelly same issues. And its curious how this changes the dynamic and the overall feeling of the game!

    Fun Fact: Sine Manhattan Project was not released in Europe, how could Turtles in Time be the fourth chapter in Europe? The right title of PAL version is: TMHT III: Turtles in Time.

    It was a great port, less animations, fewer colors and lose some little particulars, sometimes a good extra parallax effect, but it was really impressive and close to the arcade ver.
    The zoom effect on the snes was really ugly because there was no extra chip in the cart to handle it.

    The SNES Version has better music with more punch to it. In all other aspects the Arcade version is superior. However, the SNES adaptation has more levels and a nicer mode 7 presentation for the future stage

    • @bradenhogan2
      @bradenhogan2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Completely agree with all of this. I wish that we could get a proper remaster of this game that gives us an arcade version of the Technodrome stage, allows us to fight all the bosses (even if they have to just throw a boss gauntlet in somewhere), and mode 7 presentation on Neon Night Riders… and makes the music optional

      @@bradenhogan2 Or, conversely, a Super NES version with 4-player support, more voice clips, and additional frames of animation. Which would be effectively the same thing.

    • @bradenhogan2
      @bradenhogan2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davezanko9051 I’ve thought about this before. I think it would be cool to have a “definitive” version of the game that uses Arcade graphics, adds the Technodrome (& beefs up the graphics to match), includes both “Cement Man” and Slash (one of them presumably as an unlockable/hidden boss), etc. I would be torn about whether to make the gameplay be based on the Arcade or SNES version. I believe the SNES controls are tighter, but I’m pretty sure the Arcade version has more moves/animations. I would lean towards the Arcade version myself. Music could easily be optional. Basically, just the Arcade version with the SNES exclusive stuff added to it

    • @davezanko9051
      @davezanko9051 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bradenhogan2 I think it comes down to six-of-on territory. But the SNES gameplay is superior because the special attacks and grappling moves are intentional, making for a more tactical gameplay experience. It's got a bit more depth. Timing is better, too. It's just more intentional.

    Snes has super shredder at the end and no super shredder in the arcade version. The arcade version has slighly better graphics. I like the snes bosses at the end of the stage better than arcades

  • @dfjsorbys
    @dfjsorbys 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Snes version is better gameplay. I always wanted to play the arcade version as I never seen it in the uk. But when I finally got to play it I was disappointed as it wasn't as good as the snes

  • @bradenhogan2
    @bradenhogan2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If it weren’t for the extra level, better bosses, better music, I’d say the Arcade is better. Gameplay wise, they’re tied imo. SNES is tighter but Arcade has more abilities, if I’m not mistaken. Arcade has better graphics, more voice clips, 4P support, can put up to 12 enemies on the screen. So, if you could put that extra level, bosses, and swap the music, the Arcade would be the perfect version of this game

    • @NightmareJames
      @NightmareJames 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Biggest sins of the arcade were the bosses:. Cement Man (who the heck was that?) and no Bebop and Rocksteady. That led to approved changes

    • @bradenhogan2
      @bradenhogan2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NightmareJames “Cement Man” was based on a character called Blob Monster that only showed up for one episode of the cartoon, created by Shredder. I think it’s apparent that Konami had the most access to the first 2 seasons of the show when making the first 2 Arcade games. It was a character in the show, but Slash was a much more iconic pick. Bebop and Rocksteady were in TMNT NES, The Arcade Game, and The Manhattan Project - that’s 7 Bebop and/or Rocksteady boss fights, if you count ‘em out. It’s not like you can complain that Konami didn’t give Bebop and Rocksteady their due. If anything, the abundance of then prevented us from getting characters we never got in the beat ‘em ups. This was the first time Tokka and Rahzar were in a TMNT game.

    • @NightmareJames

      @@bradenhogan2 They had access to Season 3 for the arcade as well, because Metalhead and Leatherhead were in there. They could've made a better choice I think.

    • @DenkyManner
      @DenkyManner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Far as I know the SNES isn't missing any abilities and they improved the combat timing making it feel much less vague and random. SNES also allows you to choose which throw you want to do (and more reliably throw when you want) and added the ability to run on command. Animation and number of voices samples aside, SNES version is better. imo.

    • @bradenhogan2
      @bradenhogan2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DenkyManner As I admitted, the SNES controls are much tighter. The Arcade has at least one move the SNES version doesn’t as far as I’m aware. The Arcade has a unique version of the shoulder bash that can only be performed by pressing both jump and attack at the instant you turn around. It’s the most powerful move in that version of the game because I think it does the same amount of damage as a special but it doesn’t require as much setup to execute, and it isn’t as slow as the special move. This makes that particular move vital to no death runs/speedruns of that game, even though it is difficult to execute because of the timing. Also, the SNES version drains your life bar for using the special moves, so those are basically worthless except to finish off bosses. The SNES does give you the option to have more control over your dash, but it’s counter-intuitive compared to how dashing worked in Hyperstone Heist (thankfully Cowabunga Collection fixes this). It almost feels like the game TIT SNES was designed around the auto-run, which makes sense as that was the Arcade version and it’s the default control scheme

      What makes you think that?! Arcade ports to 16 bit consoles were never 1:1 due to limitations and always made sacrifices and would add in a few things to make up for the differences
