The War Rapport has denied those claims as she’s improving well health wise in her treatments and this was not a deciding factor to why he’s transferring. Jackson Arnold has 3 years left of eligibility and this changed the timeline for Walker White as he was intending to compete for the starting job in 2026 but this delayed the plan for 2027 which he wastes eligibility. It’s a business move to find a place where he can either claim the starting job or compete for the starter job. He wasn’t in a sense guaranteed a shot this year and even would have to compete for the backup role as well this year.

Why wait until AU signs Jackson Arnold and openly plans a 2nd transfer portal QB addition as well (the kid from Stanford)? The staff clearly had no expectation that Walker White was leaving, as evidenced by the fact that they posted a graphic with Arnold, Deuce, and Walker White just hours before White entered the portal. If the expectation was that he was going to leave to be closer to home, then the staff would have already known this. This isn't something that would be kept "secret" by Walker White. He is leaving for playing time, period. He was 4th string this season (ie: way behind) and they brought in Arnold who has 2 years left. They are bringing in another experienced QB to be the backup, so that means that at best White would be 3rd string next season. And that is the best case scenario. The more likely scenario is that Deuce Knight passes him, and White remains 4th string - in which case he is NEVER going to be Auburn's starter.
Exactly it’s business nothing personal, he had to make a move for a potential upper tier guy to start now which made sense with Arnold since there wasn’t a for sure Cam Ward level talent. Mateer is most likely going to Oklahoma because of his OC so people thinking we land him it was not a move guaranteed wise and we need to get that quality level talent quickly in week 1 the portal opens

As a SOONER fan. Yes HF made a good call. Arnold has all the talent in the world. OU has had so much chaos over the last three years. JA had 3 different OC"s. Last year there was no QB coach. Just hears the playbook, go execute. He played behind the worst offensive line in OU's history. He did have a fumbling problem but only threw for 3 int."s and was sacked 24 times. With a little coaching and an OL that can protect him. I think Auburn got a good one. Boomer Sooner.
