    I moved to Berlin about 1 year ago, and have loved it so far. There are still some things that surprises me and takes some getting used to. But at the same time I feel like this is totally the right decision for me.

    I'm from Canada but have lived in Berlin for a bit and this is pretty solid advice. Well done! At the end of the day though you just have to commit to living here and give it a chance. Making new friends, finding your locals, and exploration is all just stuff that takes time. No way around it.

      Wow, that's a good question. I'm not sure, except that I think it would be one of the English-speaking countries, maybe Australia or the UK, cause some of my favorite movies were made there :-) Or New Zealand, since I hear there are really almost no deadly bugs (or maybe it was no deadly reptiles) there! Amazing, right? I may have to research that a bit more. :-)
      My apologies for taking so long to reply. I hope you and Lilian are doing great, and happy holidays!
      P.S.
      I was wondering what type of camera you and Lilian use for your channel, and like, what the set-up is? Your videos are so well-done, and so clear! Do you use just a phone-cam? Or is it a special camera? Also how do you set it up at the right height, etc? I'm really thinking about posting on TH-cam soon, but am not the most tech-savvy person, so I thought I'd ask you, since you seem to know what you're doing :-)
      If you have any links to where to get the products you use, and any tips about the set-up, etc, it would mean so much to me! Looking forward to your reply. Thanks a bunch.
      Signed,
      Your big fan (^_^)

    Even if not on the officially: Berlin/Germany is actually bilingual. The (old) local language German and the global language Global English. In reality there are over 100 more of other local languages due to migration, language learners, expats and so on, but are of less relevance. And that's not just the case in Berlin but more or less evolved in all other modern cities/spots in the 21. century. Singapore, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Barcelona, Iceland, Scandinavia, New York, Shanghai, Bejing, Mumbai, Sao Paolo, Toronto, Chennai, Dubai, Sydney, Captown, Tel Aviv, Manila, Milano, Tokyo, Seoul and so on: local languages and Global English. In Germany just the government/bureaucracy lacks behind. The idea of multilingualism is actually a 19./20. century imagination. At that time one really need to learn another language to migrate - which was usually a life long matter. But that's not the 21. century. Now: there is a new meta culture with Global English (this youtube channel is part of it). Most people don't like to hear that, because all are used to many languages and so on. Especially linguists try to sell the importance of multilingualism. But that's just an ideology, a hobby or a special interest ... For most people it makes sense just to learn English (and instead of other languages rather get a bit better with Geography, Natural science, IT, History, Economy and so on). Same is true for schools - to much is wasted on wrong things ... It makes more sense if all people on the planet learn one language instead of all learn all languages or everyone for instance two or three. Everyone with a bit logic could notice that there are even with more costs/effort/ressources/time the result is worse - because many combinations of 'not intelligable' are left. All with one language is more efficient. The EU, the UN, all which are for political/ideological reasons formally multilingual (which is just show) are mostly using English ... a matter of simple everyday synchronization. Exactly the same happens if people from all over the world meet in Berlin - switch usually to English. Same in the internet ...

      An einer Hand abzählbare Reisen oder Klassenfahrten, sonst Schule, Studium und Familie/Freunde In der Stadt.
      Es ist sehr subjektiv aber ich bin halt echt traurig, dass ich mit Bafög + Job meine Wohnung nicht mehr bezahlen kann, in der ich seit 18 Jahren lebe, kann Berlin nicht verlassen. Nicht so Lust auf Oranienburg oder so...

    Sorry to sound mean, hiding behing a few 0´s and 1´s but I am really tired of this narrative and people spreading the word of Berlin being such a cool city bla bla. Cause it´s not anymore. Berlin turned into caricature. Part of the reason is people who wanna come here, work some shitty-ass underpaid Cafe-Jobs (not even understanding german and on top having the nerve being cocky about this) and having the top priority to spend these lowsy bucks they make on partying. Berlin is under attack by investors. The rents have gone up more then any other place in the world in the last 5 years. And there are floods of people demolishing any sense of community in the neighborhoods. Stop invading this city not giving anything back to the community. Go to Tbilisi in Georgia. It ´s the new cool place to be. Much cheaper than Berlin and way more exciting. Also, the natives are not as hostile as in Berlin ;)

    • @AlexisLilian
      @AlexisLilian  5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I also hear great things about Tbilisi, but not sure if you missed it but I (Alexis‘s girlfriend) am from Berlin so that’s why she moved here. I agree that the whole world is moving to Berlin and it’s changing the city but as someone who’s moved around to different cities- it’s the case with a lot of great cities, if you think Berlin housing is in a bad state try Toronto or Copenhagen. Also, Alexis isnt cocky about not speaking German, she is learning and going to classes and trying to speak as much as possible. I understand your frustration but making over-generalizations and making Alexis feel bad for merely answering questions she’s getting is not the right way to go about it. Thank you.

      I have had liked quite a few lesbians. I think guys just seem to be attracted to a wide range of women but if I analyze it, I think they tend to be more down to earth, easier to relate to, understand the difficulty men have meeting women rather than blaming it on men. That said, if you're talking about the butch ones that really look and act like dudes, yeah, maybe that says something haha.
