Otis returns to the Firehouse after being injured on the job and is immediately put on desk work. Meanwhile, Severide's mother comes to Chicago and immediately clashes with Kidd. Casey and Dawson's relationship is tested after a revelation about Cordova. A private ambulance company joins Brett and Dawson on several calls and tempts Dawson to consider joining them until she sees their less-than-Hippocratic ethics. After Otis tracks the parents of a young boy rescued from a swimming pool accident, and gives the boy to his father, the mother sues the CFD and the city-until Otis discovers it's a fraud. Severide and Stella get a shock from Severide's father Benny when they return home from a shift.

I feel bad for otis, he was just trying to do something good and then the parents scam him and make him feel awful. I miss him so much.

@@lynnxau1044 yeah later on otis goes to their house to say sorry to the woman again and once he has done he sees a sticker on her car that has the mum, dad, child and dog. He goes back to the door knocks again the mum opens the door and starts to shout at otis so the dad comes to see what is wrong. Once seeing him otis realises it is a scam gets a picture of them together and shows cheif so they don't have to pay and the story won't go on the news.

It's alarmingly common. I worked at a pool for 2 years and in childcare for 8. I have rescued and accompanied several children whose parents just run out while the parents go shop/chat/day drink. Quite often 16 year old lifeguards must play babysitter while we track down parents and Children's Protection Agencies.

Exactly and also even if it really happened like and the husband is crazy maybe she should let the kid know her actual name rather than just 'mommy'. Otis only searched the dad cause that was the only name the kid knew. Normally I would assume in those situations you'd automatically call the mom first
Technically the two were still married and they were trying to scam the department. So the records were correct

The rest of the episode shows it was a scam to try and get money from CFD. The son must have been in on it to since he said mom and Franklin. If he had said both names, Otis probably would have called the mother due to bias.

Ee-Han Godfrey yeah, I saw the clip that came after this one to show the whole scam. Otis went to the woman’s house, apologised, but when he turned around, he saw a stick figure of the whole family together including the dad who walked to the door later and show that they are actually together scamming them only for money

Is it just me or the mum's behavior is a little off?
1. She walked up to them at fairly normal pace (any worried mum would have probably ran)
2. She looked worried but in a really odd way, it made me cringe.
3. Her accusation "What gives you the right?" is waaay too calm for a parent who just heard that their child is with someone they fear.
Forgive me, as I didn't see the whole episode. Either it was the actress' really awful, woodden acting or a really good one (if the mum was MEANT to be weird or socially awkward)
PS. She calls the father a lunatic but she herself comes off as one!
Yeah it was all a scam so she wasn’t actually worried just wanted a reason to sue the CFD for money
And if the dad is actually a lunatic then why would the son go so willingly to him? He might have been abused considering how she said he doesn't have custody of the son.

Not really, my mum was more likely to shout Richard (my dad's name) through the house were as my dad would walk to my mum and not say her name. So I definitely knew my dad's name bore my mums.

Fire got called to an emergency at a swimming pool, everyone was evacuated including him, only he had nowhere to go and was on his own. They couldn't leave him alone so they brought him to the station until Child Protective Services could come grab him.
