Ahhh, this song is so good live! That entire Birmingham Town Hall concert is fantastic - everyone should check it out if they haven't already seen/heard it. Thank you for posting and for keeping the faith!
If I HAD TO choose, this is my favorite song that John wrote. It sounds terrific in this live performance. I'm always impressed with the way the lush sound from the recordings is presented in live performances by the Moodies.
We(My wife & I) saw John's Tour Show in Leeds (UK) Super show, brought back a few distant memories then, after the show, John & his partner came into the pub adjoining the theatre, so, what else could I do but buy him & his lady a drink?? Chatted for maybe half an hour..happy times. Then a few months later..Justin Hayward was in UK, went to see him too, in Darlington.
I haven't seen a live show in person, but based on the videos I've seen, your live sound is excellent! Everything is mixed really well, and I love the prominence of the cello in particular. Additionally, your voice has aged really well!
Well, seeing this video for the first time is ample incentive to attend the Poughkeepsie concert in July! I hope to hear my favorite John song, One More Time to Live.
On Candle of Life and Isn't Life Strange they trade off lead vocals. John was always a great backup vocalist. I definitely miss Justin's booming vocals but John does quite well with this band.
Wow! Who knew John could sing so well. A cello!! I am impressed. I didn't like the volume of the hard rock guitar. It was too loud. No one does the synth sound as well as Pinder did on the Mellotron.
Justing sang it on the album obviously but I have to say while John had a weaker voice in the prime of their career his has aged better by a substantial degree.
Justin's voice was always getting better throughout the years, until he got sick on a solo tour around 2016. I saw him in Dallas, two days into a bad cold, and he soldiered on for that show. But after that show, I am not sure if he ever got it back. He had a hiccup-ee voice in the Days of Future Passed 50th video. Even still, his voice is still amazing for 77 years of age.
A superb live version of a beautiful song from a landmark album. Thank you for the music, John
I wish my cousin was still here to listen to this with me. He introduced the Moody Blues to me when we were teens and I am forever thankful for that.
His bass playing carries this song wonderfully. Big fan since ‘65 with Go Now.
Beautiful song and beautiful version.
Still strong and the entire Children's Children's Children LP is incredible.
It's truly a listening experience from beginning to end. I think it is the album I listen to most often.
@@meloniedropik3539 THANK YOU....🙂😉🥰
when i go camping i like to get drunk and listen to childrens children all the way through
Beautiful rendition, great band
I agree with that. My favourite Moody Blues album and favourite song.
God smiles on those who work to make his World a better place.
John has gotten many a smile.
There is no god.
@@flemingcourtsorry to hear that you're miserable, God bless you.
Superb song from the best ever Moodies Album ... Childrens Children ... Burn slowly the Candle of life John ... Respect
Yes, I agree. It's my favourite Moody Blues album. A clear, consistent concept, beginning, middle, end.
I'm very happy to see Norda again.
This song has always meant a lot to me - especially as I get older.
Love this live version....
One of my favorite songs. But then, all of his songs are good.

Possibly his best song
One of your best songs John. Thank you for this gift to the world.
John picked some great bandmates. They really sound good together.
I hear Ray Thomas playing the flute on this wonderful piece of music
We are still Rocking on after 55 years, may we do so for another 55 years.
What a great song John!!!!!

This is so close to the original recording. Lodge has really excelled with his own band since the demise of the Moodies. Long may he continue.
Stunning rendition from John and his band wouldn't thought it was possible to do it without thé moodies ,hat off!!!
I want to cry
Happy Birthday John! Saw you recently at the Keswick, great show! Thank you for all your beautiful songs and music!

AWESOME!
No truer words sung.
Excellent stuff those were magical days. It's a shame the 2020 All Wight Now 70th anniversary festival got locked out.
Esto si es música maravillosa ,
Wow John can really sing❤ive always thoufht Justin does all main vocals
They all did main vocals to various songs, Ray, John, Mike, Justin, Graham wrote the poems.
On Candle of Life and Isn't Life Strange they trade off lead vocals. John was always a great backup vocalist. I definitely miss Justin's booming vocals but John does quite well with this band.
Yes,,EXCELLENT,,,from days of future past up to octave,,in a band called THRESHOLD,,,playing moody songs
Reach in...(something inside says you're lonely); Reach up (something there outside).....reach out...(love everyone and make them your friend).
Sounds amazing ❤❤❤
❤❤❤
wow🎉
❤
My favourite Moody Blues song.
However, it is close between this, Watching and Waiting, The Actor and New Hoirizons
all of them top shelf Moodies' songs
@@krisschedler I agree. They are all fantastic and I cannot choose,
🙏🥰💞🎶🌌🌠🌌🎶
Is Norda touring with John now?

It would be nice to have more volume on John's base. I'd love to hear it more pronounced, I know he's a great bassist.
Band sounds better than Justin’s

Not true
