love the song and collage-y style so much! reminds me of the video for Requiem for O.M.M.2, we need to make Of Montreal popular again so hard, people are missing out on so much amazing stuff and i only get blank stares whenever I mention oM in convos, MAKE OF MONTREAL BIG AGAIN FUCK FUCK FUCK FUUUUCK
1) they were never "popular" tf you on
2) they can only reclaim fans at this point if they stop making dumb music (read: everything after Aureate Gloom). this was the closest thing to a good oM song in years, but the chorus was just...like, tf Kevin, nobody wants to hear about your wrinkled old man dong, even if the idea of stepping on scorpions because you have a priapism is mildly humorous on the surface, I guess...by some stretch of the imagination. There's no staying power to that. I really think Kevin has totally lost sight of what he hit upon that got him attention to begin with.
And while I'm complaining, "powdered belle"? Oy vey!

I have followed this band since the beginning. The first albums were really great. This song gives me hope that they will return to their path.
There are a few misses but for me they really hit their stride around Sunlandic twins and had a decade of absolute bangers, skeletal lamping is the best album to me
You need to just celebrate the entire catalogue. The ones that take the most time to appreciate are the best ones in the long run.

listened to this the second i saw it come out on spotify, just that i forgot to say anything about it. i cried to this multiple times :-). it's a beautiful song and i was just happy to see Kevin still pumping out absolute masterpieces like this

finally something that doesnt sound like hyper hippie electro funk.
of montreal was my favorite band for so long, but i just can't keep listening to the same-sounding albums over and over again every year. it's honestly boring, even if its interesting.
kevin wrote songs a long time ago. after skeletal lamping, it just felt like his passion for songwriting died.
this sounds a bit like getting back on-track. though it also sounds like a beat he made, and then just sang his lyrics over it and called it a day. but i guess well see with the new album.
I find myself agreeing a lot though I would say there have been some great albums since SL. Paralytic Stalks and White Is Relic were both really good, but I do definitely feel like something has been lost in this latest phase. A lot of the music started to blend together when one of the biggest strengths of oM was how jarring the music was from moment to moment, and how a single track could pack so much variety. Anyway, this song is really nice and I'm hoping for the best for the new album!
@@okomot exactly! for me personally, up until 2010, kevin made a completely new idea in every song. now not only does every song sound the same, but every album sounds the same. im hoping he can get back to that old creativity.
