This game needs a longer intro zone, where you learn gradually and are happy to find the base at the end. They just dropped you in and tutorial bombed you in a game that's stressful and time based, that's a huge UX issue.

Yep, The purple skull is "Toxicity" and it has to be flushed from your system one way or another. Toxicity is just like in real life, everything is toxic IRL, its just a matter of dosage. You already figured out that you can do it at the base. Toxicity is a cool concept in video games in theory, annoying in practice actually, lol. Typing this as I'm watching, so forgive me if this is horribly out of date, LOL. Rock on bro!

Yeah it's a bit of an odd mechanic give you have to take the serum, but taking it gives you toxicity so you can only take it so many times. Not so different from games where you're holding your breath or something though and have to go back for oxygen I guess. There are some beneficial serums that give you buffs and stuff too so I guess it's also a mechanic to limit those a bit.

I had fun with the beta, but it's a bit rough around the edges. Combat is challenging, but not necessarily because of a skill but more because of a bit of an awkward mechanic with it. Going to play it when it comes out in early access though since I did have fun with it and the game environment looks great.
