When traction is turned off you will go from 0 to 60 faster than with the traction turned on but when the traction is turned off you will have a higher chance of spinning out of control

civic eg6 (170 hp): always off
m3 e36 (450 hp): always on
skyline r34 (501hp): alternate on/off when launching then leave it on
c43 amg (550hp): off when launching and on when driving

I have a DTS and the G86
I turn the traction off at launch then turn it on after with the both of them
For RWD cars and you have no plan to drift just raw racing, traction on definitely helps with launch as pretty much even if you have a little bit higher top speed but your opponent leaves you at launch you're screwed. Now with AWD cars it doesn't matter. In fact traction off for AWD cars actually gives better launch. I've honestly never lost to any other drivetrain type in the game when using an AWD(except the WRS because for some reason no matter how I tune it, it just won't go past 420 kph comfortably like the other AWDs)
