My stray cat gave birth for the first time (she's spayed now) and her firstborn had swimmer's feet. I massaged them every day (not twice a day, but whenever I had a chance to do it) and folded its back leg joints (like in the video) as many times as I can. He's okay now, strong back & front legs and healthy body.
Had she been born in the wild, she would’ve died weeks ago. Your therapy has undoubtedly saved her life. Thank you Toronto Zoo for helping her grow into a healthy adult snow leopard who can live a full life and have her own family one day

I will never in my life support Zoo's or Aquariums. Cruel Places. Just because you see all the cute, happy videos doesn't mean the animals are not being abused. Animals are ment to be in the wild not in cages or swimming pools.
Zoos and aquariums do a LOT of outreach and conservation work. We absolutely should support the good ones; sometimes they're the institutions standing between a given species and extinction.
I had no idea that this type of precise physiotherapy was available and used by vets immediately after birth to correct orthopedic abnormalities in snow leopards and other cats. You all made a world of difference to this majestic cub by applying your expertise. Thank you so much❤
A few yrs. ago a snow leopard had 1 cub who didn't have use it his hind limbs; they did an x-ray but it looked fine; the couldn't understand what was wrong until one observant person on the team realized that because he was just 1 cub, he was drinking all the milk that would be meant for 2, & so he was extremely heavy & could not hold himself up. They began physical therapy & built a harness to hold his back end up & encouraged his mussels to get use. Many months later he became a fantastic normal snow leopard. I think the full video is still on yt.
Years ago, my Manx cat gave birth to three kittens, one of whom wasnt breathing at birth. We revived him, he had some trouble walking at first, recovered and lived to be 15.
I foster failed (aka adopted) a Maine Coon kitten with similar deformities and learned to do little kitty rehab with him! He had cerebellar hypoplasia so he was never completely normal, but stat didn’t stop him from being a ferocious beastie. He lived to 19!
My Lucy is now 20 years and 4 months, and going strong. But when i got her as a feral kitten in an alley, she was so sick i was able to pick her up in my hands. She had to spend 3 weeks in intensive care at my vet before she could finally come to live with me.....And she hasn't been sick a day since!
What a beautiful journey for this gorgeous creature to thrive in this world!🥰🥰🥰 Major Thanks to the entire team of the Toronto Zoo for aiding in her rehabilitation of the front paws. 👍👍👍
