I got to sit in one of these yesterday for 15 seconds for the first time in my life. Now I’m obsessed and I’m counting down the days until I can sit in my own.
I was looking to replace my chair and was looking at something in the $100 range, but everything I looked into was way more expensive will all the features my current chair had.. looked it up and found out I bought a Steelcase Leap for $20.. the seat cushion is the only reason why I was looking into replacing it
I really want to buy a ergonomic chair because the gaming chairs are really bad for my posture but they are so expensive. I’m thinking of buying one from a refurbishing company for half the price but they have so many I don’t know what to get.
I use the Leap V1 because I have short legs and it was a bit cheaper. Do you have a video or could you recommend chairs for people who have short legs? For me the issue is always the seat depth so I like how the Leap has an adjustable one.
Great ergonomics, but the seat padding is really disappointing. I'm around 110kg, and after about 4 months of use the padding of the chair is mostly...not gone but it's nowhere near as comfy as before, with my butt constantly feeling a bit of pain. It's definitely a firm seat in the first place, but still, needs more support or thicker foam to be honest. At least you can take the seat apart and get it reupolstered, but that's just an extra cost on top of an absurdly expensive chair. Get one second hand for half the price and re-do the foam if need be.
Just out of curiosity, if I enjoy all the features of the V2, but would like to try a chair that has a smooth tilting/rocking back like the Aeron - what chair would you suggest looking at? Thanks so much for the great videos!
I'd say the Mirra 2 is the closest you'll ever get to a leap V2 in terms of adjustments and an Aeron in terms of the recline action. It's an underrated chair imo that doesn't really get the respect it deserves, especially with the Butterfly back option.
I'd be interested what you'd say about Crandall Office Furniture remanufactured Leap V2. They have 10 year warranty and also make the cushion slightly thicker.
I'd say that they took something great and made it unergonomic in order to appease a tiny fraction of the population of people that don't like the Leap. They have a fundamental misunderstanding of why the Leap seat isn't great for everyone and because of that, they've created something that Steelcase would never do. I'll trust Steelcase and their millions of dollars they've poured in R&D than Crandall the 10 people in his office. -Ryan

You probably already have one, but if not, get a tailbone cushion. I have tailbone pain too and have bought over a half dozen different cushions. I've also purchased special seat pans that mold to one's bottom (more for sciatica) and those haven't really worked for me :-( I also agree with BTODtv's recommendation to get a sit-stand desk to change things up throughout the day. After giving me a decade of good service, my now 20 year old $100 pre-owned Aeron is getting very long in the tooth. I replaced the cam and that fixed it for a while, but it's back to being wonky again. The pneumatic tube is getting weak. The final nail in the coffin for it is the fact that the right side arm rest snapped off (old-school Aeron with the Oreo height lock wheels, versus the flip-flop locks). I really wanted to replace it with another Aeron, but the video of the whacky CEO of HM berating her employees really, really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm going to buy a used Leap v1 for £100. It is very ugly in my opinion but if it's going to get me through 12 hour sitting days, I'm in. My current is so bad it's actually stopping me being able to concentrate. 5"3.5 on a 29" desk for reference!
I absolutely hate that I can't fully lock the back on my Steelcase Leap chair. I've had it for about a year now. Sure, its more comfortable than my previous $200 chair. But I spend my entire work shift on the chair other than breaks and the chair can get irritating. I often need to work at a fast pace which requires I sit upright in a more rigid position. But the damn back doesn't lock so I end up slouching after a while. Also, the seat cushion is garbage. It doesn't take long before by butt begins to hurt and the chair starts cutting off circulation to my legs even with the flexible seat which is the main reason why I purchased the chair. I've had $100 chairs with more comfortable seat cushions. The Steelcase Leap is a nice chair but not worth anywhere near $1000 in my opinion. If you want this chair buy it used.
Am I the only one getting tingling in my right leg sitting on Leap? I've tried all the different adjustments. It feels like my weight is always distributed on my right buttock rather than left. Can it be because my Leap's back is warped and sticks out a forward a bit on the left side causing me lean to the right? Others say warped back is normal and even out when you sit in it but I feel like it presses against my back a little on the left. Maybe I'm just not as heavy as an average american for this to work..
Yes, I do. Even with the flexible seat its too damn rigid and hard on the legs and butt. I hate this chair. Had it for about 1 year and use it for extended periods on a daily basis.

I’ll be honest, adjustability is great and versatile, now uncomfortable as fuck. The lower back push too much with any setting. They gotta be crazy to sell this chair for that much. I paid $200 and isn’t worthy
This was one of my top choices, until Steelcase ruined their reputation by decreasing their warranty in the UK to 5 years for non-business customers. This is not something I'm ever going to forgive them for and I'm never buying their products.

Aw man that sucks hard. The steelcase chairs looked very promising but this might just push me to buy a Herman Miller if I can try one that's equally comfortable. 5 vs 12 years is just too much of a difference.
@@gamingmarcus It's a bummer for sure, especially if you're not a fan of mesh or in general how Herman Miller makes their chairs. I ended up getting an Aeron remastered instead, and I've been loving it. I definitely recommend buying new Herman Miller chairs in the UK, as you can still get the 12 years warranty. Steelcase chairs are not worth buying new anymore, so if you're still keen on buying one it's best to get a refurbished one imo.

@@btodtv Appreciate the quick response! I think I will go with the Series 2. Thanks!
Are your refurbished chairs available in Europe?
anyone experienced upper back/cervical neck pain from the leap? i can't sit in the chair for more than 20 minutes bc it would hurt so much
I'm going to buy a used Leap v1 for £100. It is very ugly in my opinion but if it's going to get me through 12 hour sitting days, I'm in. My current is so bad it's actually stopping me being able to concentrate. 5"3.5 on a 29" desk for reference!
hey any update how is it going?
So is the leap v2 the leap plus??
I wish BTOD show the refurbishing process of leap v2 just like they did with herman miller aeron
We did :) -GK
Oh maybe I just couldn’t find. I will look it up thank you
hi, btod , I have a chair that is uneven on the backsupport . it uses a synchro mech. Is there a way to fix it??
Can you do a Haworth Fern Digital Knit version review?
Sorry, we don’t have plans to bring that version in for review! We have reviewed the normal mesh Fern though -GK
Best ever chair i have tried
Just from looking at it I can tell there isnt enough cushion.
This chair isn't for everyone, but God forbid you tell a Steelcase Leap v2 fanboy that.
Yes, I do. Even with the flexible seat its too damn rigid and hard on the legs and butt. I hate this chair. Had it for about 1 year and use it for extended periods on a daily basis.
@@MrSupernova111 problem is I've no idea what to swap it to. I've tried most other popular chairs in the showroom and all of them had something off about them.
Just bought a Leap V2 refurbished my back has to get used to it haha.
Give it some time and definitely explore removing the height adjustable lumbar if it’s too aggressive-GK
Everything is fit to me except headrest
The headrest is bad! -GK
Btw i cant seem to find the warranty change to EU countries?
You're right, it was missed. I just added it -GK
I just got one of these for $22!
He did transition to which chair at the office? I cant catch word he's saying...
The Steelcase Amia chair
Captions exist u know
That cushion looks like it would bottom out after awhile.
I have one of these chairs imo they are average at best I've purchased chairs from Staples that are more comfortable.
I have been having back problems and have been looking at new chairs for a while. I have seen you guys consistently say this is a great chair. Well watching this review I suddenly realized this is the chair I have had for a couple of years and I have never liked it. My wife brought it home from work during COVID and actually switched it out because she didn’t like it. I got stuck with it and have been having some major back problems recently. This chair absolutely does not have enough support in my opinion. If you don’t need a lot of support this chair might be fine but I can’t believe this is the chair you guys have been hyping up so much.
I have the v1, and it’s been great !
V1 is solid, I just don’t enjoy the arm adjustment quite as much -GK
@@btodtv fair; still though; seat is another level
What's so interesting is that the pad itself is identical, but the way it sits in the v1 it feels a bit less thin/firm. Have you tried the v1.5? -GK
Nice. Do a Gesture next :)
I compare the Gesture to the Leap in a video coming out shortly -GK
Imagine the hate I'd receive from the Steelcase users, if I called their favourite chair a total piece of garbage.
Unlike them who constantly shit on the Aeron and comment their hate on videos specifically about the Aeron, I'm fair when it comes to Steelcase products, despite my annoyances with the brand.
I've had a Steelcase Leap 2 for about a year. I think its garbage too. I regret buying it.
2 different chairs you have reviewed and the arm rest were your "favorite by far" wtf?
i hope this chair is worth the 2 hour drive
I’ll be honest, adjustability is great and versatile, now uncomfortable as fuck. The lower back push too much with any setting. They gotta be crazy to sell this chair for that much. I paid $200 and isn’t worthy
Your beard looks really good
Appreciate that! -GK
This was one of my top choices, until Steelcase ruined their reputation by decreasing their warranty in the UK to 5 years for non-business customers. This is not something I'm ever going to forgive them for and I'm never buying their products.
that sucks because their chairs can easily go 10+ years so the 5 year warranty is pretty useless..
@@bando3107 I have no doubt the chairs can last decades and beyond, but when you're buying a brand new from a top tier brand, you expect the best policies. At least Herman Miller stand by their policy internationally.
@@bando3107 I bought a generic $350 chair over a decade ago. After a few months of using the leap, I switched back to the generic chair. I really wish there was a name on the chair because I would love to buy another one. The site I bought it through no longer exists.
I initially tried out the Mirra 2, but returned it as I started getting thigh pain. It was an excellent chair, on par with the Leap v2 by sheer virtue of the adjustments it offers. I ended up getting an Aeron remastered instead, and I've been loving it.
I definitely recommend buying new Herman Miller chairs in the UK, as you can still get the 12 years warranty. Steelcase chairs are not worth buying new anymore, so if you're still keen on buying one it's best to get a refurbished one imo.
idk about this but please was poor quality
I believe that is an entry level product -GK
every chair you review is your "daily driver" how can that be...
Because I drive daily. -Ryan
You need water
Just took a drink. Thanks -GK
Nobody should be using arm rests. You're just going to have problems later in life with your Ulnar nerve.
Give us a good alternative
It’s so ugly tho 😭🤢
9:55 I've listened to this part 4 times and can't understand what he's saying. "And that's the reason why I actually transitioned away from it here in the office to the mee-ya chair." Bruh, what? I'm trying to make sure I don't regret which chair I buy, and I have no idea what chair you're comparing it to.
He was referring to the Steelcase Amia.
@@Noneya5555 Oh, thanks for letting me know.
@@FreddyBoBeddy NP. 🍻
I will never buy another Steelcase chair again. Absolutely waste of money and after watching their videos, they design these chairs for robots, not people. No human sits perfectly all the time and most of us don't want to sit perfectly all the time.If you don't sit in these chairs perfectly, they are extremely uncomfortable.
name checks out. go back to your lazy boy
