    Upper Darby is a very big area. There are several different sections. It's a shame that they only showed a small area. Next time go to Kirklyn and Highland Park!!! A lot of good honest hardworking people make up Upper Darby. ❤️❤️

      True. Only showed the dumpy areas. It is a little like saying North Philadelphia represents the entire city.

    That’s why I moved. it has become an eye sore. I have live in upper darby since 1989 and just moved. It’s becoming a Philadelphia suburb. a whole hood. A cop stated last year just before the pandemic that upper darby is becoming another Chester. That was my sign to get out.the crime has become so bad. trash everywhere. People not caring about where they live, and the cops don’t do anything anymore since the pandemic.

    Stonehurst Hills. Penn Central ran freight trains on the Cardington branch from East Lansdowne between Guilford Rd. & Ruskin Lane in a heavily wooded 3/4 mile long cut between Long Lane and Church Lane ( 69th St.) until 1974.

      I grew up on Clover Lane and the short cut to get to Stonehurst Hills Elementary School took us right across those railroad tracks. When we were not in school or after school we were always playing and following the 'trails' on the school side of the tracks. As we grew older and more daring we would 'jump' that train as it went by and ride it as far as we felt like walking back. The kid from next door to me lost a leg try to 'jump' that train.

    Yeah it's trash there now, I moved to Upper Darby around 2004-05 or so. I loved it there, most of Upper Darby was safe then, except for the Stonehurst Area. But fast forward around 2010 and I began noticing a change and decline. By the time 2016 came around I decided to move, Upper Darby had changed dramatically, I've been in South Jersey ever since 2017. I still go there every now and then, but I would never move back it's horrible now.

    • @goodjawn610
      @goodjawn610  ปีที่แล้ว

      Far as I know Drexel Hill hasn't changed that much, good place for the most part. Crime is just up everywhere. There was actually a shooting in Media two weeks ago ( which is unheard of ) and the news barely reported it. Same in Drexel Hill, bout a month or two ago someone got shot at the trolly stop on Edmonds. For the most part these towns are the same on day to day basis but the threat of random violence is up everywhere all the way to Delaware ( which has also seen a big spike in crime ). Upper Darby across from Picas is really nice and Kirklyn as well. Rest of it is pretty bad and has gotten worse.

    This brought back lots of memories. I was born in Upper Darby, and lived in first the Stonehurst section, then much later the Highland Park section. Stonehurst is pretty bad now, but from when my grandparents moved there in 1950 until the mid 1980's it was great. It was very clean & very safe. In the late 70's, when I was only 12 years old and living in Fernwood, my mom would let me & my best friend walk from Fernwood to the 69th Terminal even around midnight, with no worries, because it was just safe. I doubt, that I'd do that now. But, even into the 90's, I'd walk late at night alone sometimes around 69th St. and never had a problem.

      @@goodjawn610 My mom's best friend used to live on Sunshine Rd, in the 70's. So, I spent a lot of time there, when I was a kid. Delaware County was always safe, up until the later 80's. But, when I was a little kid, as young as 9 years old living in southwest Philly, off of 56th & Chester Ave, that area was so safe, that I'd walk blocks down Chester Ave, sometimes as late as 11pm by myself to get a pizza, and there was no thought of anything bad happening. That changed fast though, in 1977. Bad enough to make my dad move us to Fernwood to get away from it.
