The fact that you are a lighter skinned woman with looser curls and STILL go through this?? IMAGINE what the darker skinned black girls with 4C hair go through. In fact Anok Yai ALWAYS tweets about how she still has to do her own hair and makeup and she’s literally a SUPERSTAR model!! Like wow.
And that was my point exactly! It’s actually insane that this is still happening in the industry and is so unfair

As a POC you have to keep people accountable and not excuse their ignorant behavior. There is no excuse in these days and times. Either folks want to know and be involved in the uplifting of others or they don't give a damn. I appreciate your vlogs so very much. Keep on keeping on...let your light shine, bright!

The photoshoot looked so cute! Yea the micro-aggressions that are committed against POC on an everyday basis is tiring. Wish orgs would be more proactive against eliminating them instead of blowing it over.
I want to say that this was the owners first shoot, first collection and it was such a special moment and she was amazing - but nonetheless modeling agencies and companies that book POC models need to do a better job

Eloise, you are a model! Lol give yourself credit, own it. But you’re absolutely correct about the brand being prepared or double checking the skills of the artist hired. Also, I would just always bring products just in case so you always feel your best. It’s not your job but if they don’t , you can feel confident while shooting ☺️💕

Another great vlog. Sorry you went through that Eloise. Understandable that it was their first shoot but I do think that if they hired a POC they should of at least done some research on you, your hair type etc so they could be more prepared. Again, it goes both ways, you want the photos to turn out well and be comfortable while taking them, and they need to make sure the experience for their model is the best if they want people like you to work with them again.

I was fortunate enough to work with Porsche and they loaned me a car and then I have a separate guy who I got the jeep from! If you need an affordable rental in LA my guy is amazing!!!

omggg loved this episode and all of topics you touched on from being a woman of color in the industry, the goods/the not so good lol, etc. In terms of mother agencies...I am looking to get signed to an agency; I am 5'4" so on the more petite side. You said you have a mother agency; would you able to give a little insight in the process of getting signed to a mother agency. I have been contacted by one before but was hesitant because they asked for money for certain things..which some of those were totally understandable. However, I am just wary of anyone asking for money upfront. Would love your take on this and/or advice :) thanksss and hope you're doing amazing!
