Quite educational and at the same time artistic. His English is also quite intelligible and comfortable, a kind of standard in the fifties. Thanks for the precious upload!
I love the story that startsAt 45:16. This really shows what an amazing pianist he was. As a pianist I can tell you it’s incredibly difficult to play as softly as he does
Wonderful lesson for an accompanist. Heard it years ago when I was a student, and he was giving a lecture, in Sydney Town Hall, I think. Made a huge difference to how I accompanied singers.
I used to hear parts of this recording on WFMT Chicago back in the 1970s and 80s. I particularly remember (and occasionally imitate) the "is too high.... is too low" story. Thanx for posting this!!!
What a treat! I was a voice major at college in the 1970s, and we singers used to play this at parties. I have not heard this in decades, but I find I am remembering every word.
Ein ganz Großer, der wußte, worauf es in der Musik ankommt!
Magnificent!! Thank you. Educational and didactic presentation. Thank you very much for sharing this treasure.
Thank you so much for sharing this!
A pleasure.
Very well narrated and described.I have never heard an acompanist better than Gerald Moorel.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Interesting. Thanks David.
