I lived this song out. My husband of 4.5 years had a major stroke. That was 1997. The MD told me - when my husband went to in-patent rehab - to go home and pack my things because they would help him cope with our marriage dissolving better during rehab than after he got home for a while and I found I couldn't take the mental, physical and emotional changes...28 years, six months and fourteen days after our wedding day, he died at home with me at his side...no, I did not leave him. His last words? 'I love you'. He made the American Sign Language short-hand for 'I love you' and then he was gone...I didn't know he was dying...he didn't want to go to the hospital - he'd had enough of them through the years...he said it was 'him, me and God on this journey'. And it was - it still is. Yes, he's gone to his rest, but one day, Jesus is coming back to raise His saints up to live with him forever and our marriage will pick up where it left off...and I believe that day is soon!
