I still have a few outfits from the good old days. Many years ago I sold a lot of Barbie things ( including Skipper and Skooter ) to a friend for her daughter and then on to her granddaughter. I cannot be sad for sharing. Since then ,friends found two Skippers at a yard sale. I bought new clothes from Walmart for them and just about wept at the junk available.
Nice to hear that someone besides me prefers bubble-cut Barbies. What a beautiful collection and so well presented. I look forward to your next program, Christopher!
h wow!! I knew about this little Barbie Theater but never seen it in person, and never ever I have seen it "alive" changing set, and decor, opening and closing the curtain (I even didn't knew there was one ) this is such a unique moment! this full set is superb, but oh my doll, Christopher you gave us such a magical performance!! thanks thanks thanks!!! I loved each minute of this. Thank you Rachel big hug and kisses
This is before my era of Barbie (70s/80s), so I always thought the 60s dolls looked mean compared to Superstar. Now I can appreciate the quality and historical significance of them. I love to see items in good condition end up with collectors who will care for them and show them to others. Also, if Christopher isn’t an expert (he said he isn’t), he is certainly well on his way. I learned a lot.
Mom and Dad bought me a Fashion Queen for my 11 th birthday. I adored her and still have her. Thank you Christopher, I really enjoyed your presentation❤.
What a treasure this collection is and definitely Christopher is one as well! Thank you for this informative program. Btw, I love hearing Holland Diane in the background.
Got a nostalgic hit with this one, having gotten the Barbie/Ken theater one Christmas, and my sister and I had the Arthur/Gwenivere costumes. We didn't do plays, just set the scenes up. That was one of the few toys we didn't tear up. Fun to see it.
Rachel, I really enjoyed Christopher Johnson's Barbie collection and all his insights💖💖💖💖💖!! Although I am older than Christopher Johnson and the Barbie face molds of the 70s and 80s I believe are the prettiest, I do LOVE those 1960s Barbies that were made before I was born!! I really LOVE that Barbie and Ken little theater and I thought it is totally cool that there are so many excellent backdrops for the plays and ballets they put on💖💖💖💖💖!! Being that when I was a Child and Teenager many years ago, I was in many plays and I did Ballet recitals, so since I also have loved and still love Barbie Dolls, this Theater is really awesome!! I also LOVE that you can open up the backstage side doors too!!! I really LOVE the Cinderella Doll💖and the handsome Ken Prince Charming Doll💖,, and the Queen Arthur Doll!! And my favorite Barbie from this collection is 💖💖Enchanted Evening💖💖 with her stunningly gorgeous satin gown💖💖, beautiful golden blonde hair💛💛, pearl choker necklace💖💖, earrings, beautiful pink lipstick💖💖, beautiful eye make up💙💙 and her blue eyes💙💙 as much as the Sugar Plum Fairy Barbie Doll!!! And I so LOVED the Suzy Goose Bedroom set Canopy Bed💖💖💖💖💖!!! However, I really LOVED Rachel's Mom's Barbies: Miss Barbie in a beautiful pink bathing suit with golden sparkle with her sleepy eyes💙 and the Barbie No.3 in the Zebra style stripped bathing suit🤍🖤🤍🖤!!! And I also LOVE Christopher's Barbie Locket💛💛💛💛💛!! Thank you Rachel and Christopher Johnson for sharing this beautiful and fun 1060s Barbie Dolls and the Barbie and Ken Theater😃😃👍👍💯💯💯💯💯!!!
When I got married in 74, my sweet hearted dad gave my dolls to my little cousins. I wasn't happy but knew his heart was in the right place. Years later a dear departed friend gave me a bubble cut just like My old one. After she parted I got a barbie with wigs from her collection. They mean very much cause of her love. Leta
So nice to meet you, Christopher. I'm a 60s Barbie fan as well. Loved seeing this minty Little Theater. It's just beautiful and your presentation was delightful and informative. Looking forward to your next video for the VDC. Would enjoy seeing you do one on the Campus!
I am so glad I saw this video. I didn’t know there was a stage for Barbie. I loved her costumes and, I only had the Red riding hood one as a child. I miss having all my original Barbie gowns.
LOVE this!!!!!! I'm so surprised I've never heard of this amaaaaazing theatre before!! I love how much detailed info he gives us, and both of you have catchy enthusiasm!
Oh wow---you made a life-sized theater? You just reminded me of a Barbie grocery store I made back in the 90's. We only have ONE photo of it----I wish we had more! My niece just loved it....even better, I WISH I had thought to pack it away carefully and kept it. Not to mention, my sister and I also regret not saving alllll our Barbies, Kens, Francies, Skippers, houses, plane, camper, And the CLOTHES AND SHOES from the 60's and 70's !!!!! I've never cared about the monetary value, it's just about the happy memories.
Excellent video! After watching, I had to have the Little Theatre and all the costumes. It took a while to find all the items on EBay. It’s such a statement piece.
OMG. I had the same outfit for my Barbie when I was a little girl. It's the pink satin dress with the darker pink velvet coat. Loved that outfit so much it was just so elegant. xxx
Christopher thank you for your presentation. You did great. You're love and affection for Barbie added to the program. I loved Tammy as little girl. I now have several. As well as Little Miss Revlon. I never knew of her before a few years ago. Living behind the Redwood Curtain there were lots of things I never saw. However growing up in a town with park of 17 acres of virgin redwoods, I wasn't deprived!
Wow that theater I have never ever seen one and in what mint and thanks for the info Christopher and what a wonderful collection you both have and I rember playing with barbie as a kid
I learned so much about Barbie. One of my favorites was the Guinevere costumes in blue...Ken's corresponding knight too. I remember when that came out. I was raising my own Chris then. From Tennessee
fantastic review . that theatre is stunning . i have a very poor miss barbie but i love her ,i think i have too many dolls now of all kinds i need a second home lol you both are fantastic together
I still have my original 1960 brunette Barbie, I think she's from run 2. I thought I'd seen everything Barbie, but have never seen this theater. Thank you so much for sharing.💕💖
Wow, that Theatre is just fabulous!!! I have the Susy Goose bed with that same bedding, not sure if I have the pillow. But the weird plasticy transparent bedding and canopy. I don't have the little chest, but I did later come across a Susy Goose sort of Armoire, some shelves and maybe drawers below. All in storage, I hope they're OK.
I have two sets of Barbies and I have that pink outfit. When I put them into storage they were in excellent condition. I have furniture, a car and more. I got them all in the 60s.
Really enjoyed seeing this. An aspirational TH-cam video I’ve always wanted to do was the plays from the Barbie Little Theater booklet. I’ve been slowly collecting the fashions, but still don’t have the theater, the play booklet, and the actors to do it. You guys should consider it! You have all the pieces! Set up the theater, get a couple voice overs to read the parts and a narrator to read out the stage directions, and you could have a beautiful 1964 Little Theater barbie episode with all the stories and dolls as they were meant to be played with!
@@Webkinzlover064 really! That’s so flattering! There are so many better channels lol. Look forward to the Little Theater sets, I actually managed to acquire the Little Theater playset!
Fashion Queen Barbie was my first Barbie. She was the one I "traded" for TNT Barbie when that program was in effect a few years later. I have since, as an adult collector, acquired another Fashion Queen & wigs, & I absolutely find her stunning! She's easy to dress with her smooth legs, & pulls off every fashion with panache! I have a very soft spot for this vintage doll. I appreciate your perfect Fashion Queen.
Christopher you WERE born for this moment! What a great presenter! I'm not a Barbie collector, had her as a child of the 70's but she was always blonde in Australia & a bit too "perfect" 😂... but I watched this entire vid as it was so informative & entertaining 💖.. I especially love the "Lilli" by night & "Barbie" by day 🤔... hmmm not so perfect after all... 🤣... just joking Barbie fans, but it amused me 🤣💖
Catching up. Christopher is a gem. This is the era of my babysitter daughters collection. She didn't have the theater, but we went to see the theater at either Bullocks or May Company where her aunt worked as they had it as a Barbie Display. I finally have my Barbie collection that are all made in Japan. (My mom would not let me have one, though I did have Skipper and I gave her away when I married). I will have to see how many are tm or pat pending.
As a child I had the Suzy Goose Canopy bed and the wardrobe. My bed had the sheer canopy fabric like yours. I could be wrong (it was a. Lifetime ag) but I believe it depended on whether you bought it in the Sears store itself, or ordered it from the catalog. Mine was ordered from the catalog.
Loved the presentation. Do you go to the NBDCC? Like the one upcoming in Orlando? Would be fun to meet you! I have the sparkle wedding set in pretty good condition. Also, there is a guy in LA who works on talkers…
“If you have two shoes [for cinderella] because she only came with one, you’re onto something special.” Oh you b word! I was super pleased when I got one for 100$. Was like “all done!” I didn’t even CONSIDER getting a second one, but why not! What a terrible good idea LOL
1964! I was a preteen Barbie nut. Spent all my babysitting money for outfits. Where was this advertised? Not in the little booklets that came with outfits, that's for sure. How did Mattel market it and I wonder how much it originally cost.
Awww.......I love how he plugged Barbie's ears so she wouldn't hear the name. (I wonder why she was called ugly?...she's just as pretty as the others).
Christopher has a wealth of knowledge of the early Barbie's. He was good to listen to and have learned so much about Barbie. Thank you Rachel
Thank you, Tony!

I love this presentation! Christopher Johnson is a treasure!
He is! Thank you, Cindy!
This was so fun to watch! Wonderful collection. I wish Mattel still made Barbie with that kind of quality. Especially when it comes to the clothing.
Thank you so much!
I really appreciate the preservation of that theatre.
Nice to hear that someone besides me prefers bubble-cut Barbies. What a beautiful collection and so well presented. I look forward to your next program, Christopher!
Huge Barbie collector here! Loved the video. Christopher did a great job. Saying Barbie is the blueprint was so accurate.
It is a treasure to have younger generation like Christopher who is so much into vintage Barbies ….love this episode

Just a note: Bild was the newspaper that the cartoon Lili ran in. The company that made Lili was called Greiner & Hausser Gmbh.
Thank you so much for the information, the whole history is fascinating. We appreciate your tuning in!
Love Chris’s creative aesthetic!
Same! Thanks so much!
