    Nice and helpful videos, Mike. Maybe you can explain or guide me in taking Train from Sinjuku to Hokadate using JR Pass. Do I have to take a train from Sinjuku to Tokyo station to get on the bullet train? Do you have any idea of the schedule on how early or late we can use the train both ways? Thanks.

      Hi masakngasal, thank you for the comment. The snow is a little late compared to last year. The low is still not minus degrees yet so hard to say. But I think we should see some snowfall towards the end of November.

    Hi Mike,
    we have 6 nights in Sapporo later in the year and i'm looking for the best way to get around. Is there a day pass that covers, subway, streetcar etc? We'll have a JR Pass so we're covered for CTS-Sapporo Station. I'm assuming there is no pass that covers all modes. if so, would a subway pass be the best one to get around?

    • @mikeinjap
      @mikeinjap  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats awesome! You are correct, there is no pass that covers all transports. Each transport has its own one day pass/weekend pass with it being cheaper on the weekend/national holiday. If you use the local SAPICA IC card, it will work on the subway, bus and trams, there is also a transfer discount if you use the designated transfer stations. Yes, the subway is probably the best way to get around the Sapporo city center. If you plan to make 4 or more one way trips, the the day pass works out to be cheaper. You can also consider the semi-assisted Porocle rental bicycles if you don't have any young children. You can check it here: porocle.jp/en/

    Hi Mike, which card do you suggest is the best fit if I am going to Sapporo first then Tokyo?

    • @mikeinjap
      @mikeinjap  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, you can just get the Kitaca and it will work where the other major IC cards work. You can't get it anywhere else ;)
      Also, Sapporo just started getting some snowfall!

    Hi Mike, can I use the 1 day pass or Donichika in the JR Hakodate line going to Otaru and also from Sapporo City Center to Shin Chitose Airport? Thanks!

    • @mikeinjap
      @mikeinjap  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there, unfortunately the Donichika pass is only for the Sapporo Subway and won't work on the JR lines. However, you can take the orange subway from Odori station to Shin Sapporo and then take the Rapid Airport to Shin Chitose Airport which saves you a little money. Sapporo Station to Shin Chitose Airport cost ¥1150. Shin-Sapporo to Shin Chitose Airport is only ¥880. Hope that helps.

    • @mikeinjap

      Hello Essa, I'm not sure what you mean by JR or normal trains, there are only JR trains operating from Sapporo to Hakodate. The subway trains are only within Sapporo city.

    Hi, does Suica card work in Sapporo, from train, bus, convenience store, restaurant, etc ?

    • @mikeinjap
      @mikeinjap  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, the suica works wherever the kitaca is accepted. Trains, buses convenient stores, the streetcar(tram) as well. Restaurants however, not so much. They mostly accept, credit card, cash and barcode/cashless payments like Apple Pay.

      Hello Michael, yes you can use the JR pass in Sapporo as long as you use the JR trains. Take a look at the JR Hokkaido website to see all the places you can get to with the pass.
      www.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/ticket/railpass/index.html
      Do note that you cannot is it on the local, express buses and subways here unfortunately.
