    I used to find James so pompous and facetiously dismissive to ppl who disagreed with him. But after a long meandering journey of exploration I found myself at the steps of predestination and now Im getting him completely. This the exact line by line analysis of Romans 9 I been looking for. Jim Brown from Grace & Truth though brought me here

      Same here. What I appreciate is that he does all he can to accurately represent the views of those he believes are contrary to what the Bible teaches, he actually listens, and then calmly "destroys" their arguments using consistent hermeneutics.

    I love this explanation of Romans chapter 9. I am so thankful God pulled me out of the IFB movement and gave me repentance of my sins and saving-faith in the Gospel of Christ Jesus my Savior. Thankfully, my family and I are now in a church that believes like brother Dr. James White teaches concerning the Scriptures. • @EmWarEl
      @EmWarEl ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alihoussney7870 There are multiple places in Scripture where the contrast of love and hate is used to demonstrate a strong preference of one thing/person over another. Romans 9 does NOT teach that God decides before people are born whether they are loved (saved) or hated (damned). In fact, you do not even get to the end of chapter 9 before Paul reiterates exactly why some Jews were saved or lost (they tried to obtain the promises of God by works rather than faith). What Romans 9 says is that God can choose or not choose anyone he wants for any task he wants, and he doesn't have to explain himself. If he wants to choose Mary to give birth to Jesus, or knock Paul down and blind him to convert him, or cause a tree to fall and kill one of your children, or wipe out a whole nation because they are wicked and reprobate, that is his prerogative. None of that means that some people get no opportunity whatsoever to repent because God hates them. Consider this in light of Romans 9:
      II Tim 2:
      20 Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
      22 So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 23 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

      @@EmWarElIt is true God is love. But it is also true that none of us deserve God's love. We have all sinned against God even though He is love. Him making the choice to love us is a blessing we don't deserve and we can understand what an amazing thing He has done in loving Jacob. He gave His Son for us out of love, but all have turned from God. God's love and grace is not something we deserve and we can absolutely be amazed when He extends His love to those that do not deserve it.

      Yeshua was FOREKNOWN ; chosen ; The Elect One ; as with all His brethren ; not according to works ; but by Him who calls ; as the twins were determined, before they'd done anything good or bad ; that the purposes of God according to election might stand ; not of works, but of Him who calls.. Therefore, it is not of the one who wills, nor of the one who runs, but of God who shows mercy.. You mean, it's totally up to God?.. Then, how can He find fault?. Ahhh ; there's your conundrum.. So you'll either believe in the perplexity of Godly Sovereignty, or change the context to avoid HIM ; and you can't.. That's why Paul was fearfully inspired to establish the inordinately impossible comparison, and requisite of the dust formed creature, toward the Live Giving Sovereign ; yes ; to even bear up the question... In the scope of God doing His choosing, WHO ARE YOU, o man??.. but, but, but ; ok, I give up ; He's God, who completely has that right..

    Let me offer a different perspective. If you listen to White, your mind will stay inthe rut of believing this whole passage is about "how an individual is picked for ind salvation".
    The problem is, the passage is about Gods promises and Gods faithfulness. Has god failed due to Israel's unbelief?
    If you consider that Pauls point was not individual salvation, but rather about God's plan going forward unthwarted, the whole chaptermakes sense.
    God's redemptive plan was accomplished through people thsy he chose. Paul gives examples that had faith and also, examples that did not. Pharaoh was unbelieving and God's plan wasnot thwarted nby that. In fact, he strengthened the resolve of Pharaoh to make the show even bigger! Just as God used hardened Pharaoh, he was using presently hardened Israel (the main topic of the passage). Regardless, Gods plan of redemption continued.
    And the unbelief of the Jews fulfilled the prophesy that gentiles would come into the church.
    And the summaty is that this redemption plan of God was always by faith, which the gentiles were showing and the jews were not.

The mention of creating light and darkness, peace and evil, emphasizes God's role as the ultimate source of both positive and negative experiences. I think that is a common complaint against Calvinism, that it seems to make God the author of evil. I dont think that it does. If I had to boil it down to simpler terms, is Shakespeare the author of Shylock's evil or Iago's? Is Tolkien the author of Gollum's or Saruman's evil? Or are those characters acting according to their nature? I think the author of a story can write the story and assign nature to the characters without being the creator of evil itself and still hold those characters responsible for acting according to their own nature.

    • @whatisthetruth6901

      @@markxivlxii1390 God is not a human author. While authors can create complex characters without bearing moral responsibility for their actions, God is omnipotent and omniscient. They misread Romans 9 and read it back to change the entire meaning of the epistle.
      Romans is all about God choosing to harden Israel for hardening their own heart to bring about salvation unto all nations. Much like he did with Pharoah to free up his people.
      They changed even the purpose of the gospel to make the good news all about God soverightny rather than HIS love for the world. So even the world doesn't mean everyone!
      They even twisted John 3 16 further so much that they have to appeal to Greek grammer as if Greek usage of verbs is like English to make "whoever believes" say " believing" and therefore whoever God has caused to believe.
      Even Ephisians 2 has been twisted to say that we were chosen to be in Christ before the foundation of the world, so we were already in union with God at birth before even receiving faith.
      The meaning of gift had to change to mean irresistable! Since when is a gift irresistable?
      In the meanwhile, Satan is the only beneficiary of spreading this false non gospel doctrine, which totally undermines and reduces his role to mere robot or agent of God who has no power on his own at all.

    It's interesting that he all but IGNORES what Paul said in Romans 9:1-3 about wishing himself damned if it meant the salvation of his fellow Jews. He wrote that in the Spirit, and that doesn't wash with God NOT wanting to save them.

      God wants all men to repent but not all come to repentance. God is not trying to save all mankind and then fails in his plans. He accomplishes all of his will. He gave a people to the Son and the Son lived and died for them in their place as payment for their sins canceling the debt against them. The Spirit seals them with promise. John 6 is consistent with John 10 and John 10 is consistent with John 17.

      That’s a boldface contradiction, something Calvinists do a lot. It’s like while everyone accepts the laws of logic prior to Exegesis, Calvinists want to go and re-write them. • @JesusWordApologetics
      @JesusWordApologetics  6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      So Bob, what your asking is; if Calvinism is true, then why does Jesus plead with Israel to turn and they would be healed? Your assumption is when God makes a if/then conditional statement. It means that God is holding out His hand and begging these poor Jews to just take hold, and they would be eternally saved, or something to that effect. The short answer is Jesus is speaking to the elect (the already chosen) of Israel. The long answer is:
      Clearly, the Old Testament taught from start to finish that God had chosen a remnant within the physical decedents of Abraham. That regeneration took place prior to our faith in the Lord even during the OT times. We see in Ezekiel 36:26,27, "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances."
      The Spirit has been active since creation. We see in Deut. 30:36, Jesus says: "Moreover the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live."
      The OT Jew's resisted the Holy Spirit as we see in Stephan's condemnation of the Jews to the Sanhedrin in Acts 7:51, “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you." This is why Jesus pleads with His people throughout the OT. He's not saying if the Jews would just choose Him, then synergistically He can now save them. No. Jesus is speaking to the elect (the already chosen) of Israel. We see why Jesus is pleading with Jews to repent, because Jesus gives those who don't repent over to Satan. We see this in 1 Corinthians 5:5, hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.
