You are the best teacher. You made it easy to learn it. I picked up fast. Been wanting to learn for so long. Now i don't have to dance like Iris chacon anymore. Lol. Love you girl.
Lillian Martinez 😍 aw that's amazing! I originally made this just as something fun and I'm so happy that it's help people and an easy to learn break down so that they can learn to love and enjoy dancing the samba and leave the in Ambitions at the door! Keep dancing your heart out! ❤️
You do teach the correct way, giving us your back, all the other instructors are teaching us giving the front and it is difficult watching the videos and do the steps that way at the same time. Thank you very much!
i have danced samba many years and i never thought a zumba instructor would do such a great job in making the samba easy enough to learn. Bravo e obrigada !
OMG I have been trying to learn the steps but the instructors are so fast and I could never get it, you have explained it so easily, I will start practicing tomorrow. Thank you so much, you are awesome and beautiful!!!
wow you really did this step by step...this samba move is what i hate most about zumba because it looks so difficult...!! but now i know the steps...now to to them...lol...awesome video...
This is by far the best breakdown I have seen!! Wow! Thank you so much!! I could not SAMBA to save my life I have the instructors guide and the ZIN network for reference and resources but this did it!! Thanks!!
I've viewed tons of other break-down-samba videos, from around the world, on youtube and your other commentors are right... yours is the easiest to learn from! THANK YOU!
So so happy that this is how to break something down so that people have a simple, easy way to learn and can learn to really enjoy the Rhythm and enjoy dancing to it out and about! More videos to come
This was so helpful! I rarely use samba moves in my Zumba class, simply because I wasn't comfortable that I was doing the moves correctly! Now I can't wait to choreograph a samba routine!
Wow! I have been doing zumba for a while but the samba has been really hard to get because it moves so fast. And brazilian music is some of my favorite! Thank you so much for making this brake down video now I will be able to dance sambaaaa!!! you are awesome!
Maria Jose Molina this is so great! I'm just now getting ready to post more things on TH-cam as I've taking a Hiatus and opened a dance studio... So happy that this couldn't help break it down so that more people can enjoy dancing it and learn to live it up on the Dance Floor!
The student as as great as the teacher!! Awesome breakdown , especially when you turn around so we can see the back and understand way better. A lot of senseless tutorials out there. Thank you!
Awesome breakdown! I have been instructing for a little over 3 months now and love the Samba rhythm but until now could not find a good breakdown video! Thanks for sharing!!!
I've always wanted to learn those steps for dancing Samba. I've asked some brazilian friends but nothing. THANK YOU Adelicia, this is the best video and way I've found for learning. THANK YOU SOO MUCH! :)
The Best! I will practice and hope to get it. You really break it down well so that even totally uncoordinated folks like me stand a chance of learning. Thank you!!!
Molly Smith so glad this could help break down something in a simple easy way so that people can still Groove and feel comfortable going out and dancing and enjoying Samba music went out and about!
Thanks so much for this video Adelicia. Having just started with Zumba a year and a half ago, having taught nearly 20 years of fitness classes this was a huge help for me. I will definitely have to come back and re-visit to perfect the Samba. Please tell me you are a "ZES" Instructor because you really should be. Hope to see more.....thanks so much.
Wonderful ! You make it look so easy!!! I have shared it on my town"s (Dubai) Zumba Instructors group page...we can all use some of it in our classes! Thanks Adelicia!
Thank you for breaking this down! I've been having the hardest time getting this part of the samba to work for me. Now my Zumba classes are in trouble :)
I figured this would be good because we do so many fast songs in class that people can never execute the steps correctly and the rhythm is slower and more pronounced so they can focus on their coordination :) good catch!
Gracias, mil gracias eres la primera persona que explica perfectamente todo lo que necesitaba saber...enserio que busque mucho, hasta que me tope con tu video, muchísimas gracias (~^)
Hi @Summer W :) The song is Santo Santo sung by Gloria Estefan (Cuba) and Alejandro Pires (Portuguese) so they combined the Afro-cuban and Brazilian rhythms together... Alejandro has some great other portuguese songs as well you can check out. I figured this would be good because we do so many fast songs in class that people can never execute the steps correctly and the rhythm is slower and more pronounced so they can focus on their coordination :) good catch!
wow thanks! it isn't often you meet or read a person who know this kind of information about dancing. once something created by africans has been picked up by anglos, it's origins become obscured. most people go along with it bec they see that kind of thing (assimilation) as the best or only road to "acceptance" (and acceptance by others as the only route to self respect).
His name is actually Alexandre Pires. I'm just clarifying in case searches people try to do for this song don't come up because of a mixed-up letter here or there.
Adelicia THANK YOU!! You found a way to simplify it for many of us that want to sway the samba. All the way from Canada T H A N K S M Y F R I E N D !!! :)
I'm so confused. What's the difference between Zumba and Samba dances? I thought they both similar except Zumba requires more body movements (always swinging to the hard left and hard right).
Some of you are just being willfully ignorant. What the hell do you think the "Afro" part of "Afro-Brazillian" means? How do you think Samba got to Brazil. And please stop Westernizing every single dance that did not originate in America. You turn passionate, traditional, joyful movements to music to lifeless, awkwardly executed, one on one simple wanderings around a ballroom.
Samba is a blend of African rhythm that has developed and established roots in Rio de Janeiro, Samba is linked to black culture, is Brazilian music and dance! evolving and gaining new rhythms with time. (Samba wheel - much like the music of capoeira) (Samba brake - one of the 1st in Rio de Janeiro, in the bars of the city), (Party-High - popular in the hills of Rio, samba improvisation) (Samba plot - came to the parade of the samba schools), (Samba song - also created in Rio pubs). (Bossa Nova - Samba Carioca-influenced jazz) (Pagoda - Rio Samba influenced by party-high). Music and Dance Brazilian Portuguese language! NOTE:. We appreciate the love the Brazilian culture, but this song and dance, are not Samba.
Hello, that the songs that you used was not samba :( , a tip, do not ever forget wiggle/shake your hips to the side and not the body, at 6:36 you did perfect! Congratulations, you taught well!
I think that even if the song is not samba she can still execute the move. For example, I use Justin beiber ft. J. balvin Sorry to teach basic steps for salsa to my older Zumba Kids. But glad I found her video.
Larissa Carrillo ok ;) ... There are some channels on youtube that teach Brazilian music, such as funk and axé, search "fitdance" and "camila carmona",i thing that you like it, i love these channels, it's perfect for gym
Definitely! When you're out and about dancing with tons of people and especially when you're performing Samba you want to really show off those hips... And for lack of better words work that booty!
You are the best teacher. You made it easy to learn it. I picked up fast. Been wanting to learn for so long. Now i don't have to dance like Iris chacon anymore. Lol. Love you girl.

So Samba is basically, step/ball/change, step/ball/change. Add the hips. Now, I've seen the foot work done vertically and horizontally, is that right?

Zumba is a dance fitness which involves certain dance forms like merengue, samba, salsa, cumbia etc
