In a way this symphony is a sign of a son's love for his father. Leopold had repeatedly asked Wolfgang in his letters to create this symphony for the occasion of Haffner's ennoblement, and stressing how beneficial for the family it might turn out to be. Wolfgang was super busy but found the time to compose it very quickly for his dad, sending him individual movements one at a time by mail. Wolfgang was pleasantly surprised at how good it had turned out, and then a few months later he revamped the score somewhat, creating the version we know today. Turned out to be one of his most popular works. But the composition of this symphony demonstrates that he was a good son who loved his father, and he tried hard to please other family members and those around him. Honestly this excerpt used to make me want to die at auditions, but now it’s such a good exercise to loosen up my wrist just the right amount now that I have it down :)

Lol compared to other tempos this is a little lethargic
Mozart recommended: "as fast as possible".
The performance sounds like Karajan.
