    Rose, the Turkish version of this salad (kisir) is made with bulgur+tomato paste+pepper paste, and then all the other stuff added (cucumber, onion, parsley, etc). It's really far superior! The tomato paste is a real game changer and gives it its colour. I highly recommend you try it, it's perfect for picnics, office lunches, potlucks, and even hangovers in my opinion!

      I fully agree with this! Kisir is amazing! I also add garlic, mint leaves, cumin, paprika, and then the dressing is the same as in the video except you do pomegranate molasses instead of the dijon mustard. It goes nice in romaine lettuce leaves or pitta bread.

      Im eating my fav salad of the moment and its romaine lettuce, quinoa, diced tomato, lil bit of finely diced onion OR minced garlic, shredded whole carrot, dried mint, cumin, black pepper, fresh lime/lemon juice (half of one) and tahini.
      Mint and cumin are so good together.

      @@KateLJ1799 I also use pepper of all sorts (yesterday I used "isot"), including black pepper, and use whatever greens I have on hand(arugula in yesterday's) as well cubes of tomatoes or cherry tomatoes! I'm more of a lemon/salt/olive oil gal myself :) I find that bulgur is sufficient as a carb, I dont' need to put it in pita bread, but yeah romain lettuce is good.

    I've never seen anyone put the ingredients to a salad dressing directly on a salad without mixing it first. If it works, this is such a great idea. Will have to try it. Worried about the mustard not mixing well, though.

    • @Gerifan04
      @Gerifan04 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I sometimes do this. Just depends on my mood and how much I care to use another dish for mixing haha. But I will say if you do just dump everything in best to put them right on top of each other. I feel that way they automatically mix a bit better starting from the same point.

    • @hederahelix4600
      @hederahelix4600 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gerifan04 I did try it twice by now. It worked great on a coleslaw and somehow I did exactly what you said, put them on top of each other and mixed the sauce a little before mixing it into the salad.
      With a vinaigrette for a leafy salad this does not work though. The oil and vinegar never properly emulsified so this was a watery soggy mess. Will try a joghurt based dressing next.

    *Tip* in case you've never tried it...to cool off pasta, rice, quinoa quickly; scoop it out on a couple of dinner plates [or cookie sheets] so it's in a thin layer. It will cool to room temp FAST. I do this all the time; the only down side is it makes a couple extra things to wash, but it works great.

    About the chickpeas, Jennifer has a point, legumes contain anti nutrients, some of which makes it difficult to digest and can make you bloated and gassy. Therefore it is adviced to soak, sprout or ferment legumes to make digestion easier. People with sibo or other gutproblems can’t eat legumes because of the digestion problems.

    Well... I'd use an "Alligator of Sweden" for that boring chopping, but that might be just me. But it shouldn't. Everybody should be doing the happy dance, chopping away 🐊
    You can thank me when you've tried it 🙇‍♀️

    I would think grinder would come from the machine they use to cut the meat at a deli, isn't that called a grinder?

      Meat grinder is what they would use to make ground beef or sausage, you're thinking of a deli slicer.

    The Violife feta seems more like goat's cheese than feta, IMO. I prefer goat's cheese anyway, so bonus for me! That salad looks great. I don't put pistachios in salad very often, so that's a great idea. Can't wait to try it.

    Jennifer Aniston said "chick peas are bad for your gut"? 🤔 can Jennifer please explain the EXACT science behind that, because that makes no sense. I think she must've meant they make you fart alot, since it's in the bean family 😆

    I love this . Only have one suggest that you should plate your taste and use a different utensil to taste then serve. No double dipping. Because with all due respect you are tasting with 1 utensil to mix,serve and taste. Now you have a big bowl of a salad and will serve this dish to company. Even if it your family not could to teach especially in this day and age of disease.
    Nothing personal against you. Just an FYI. I think your channel is fabulous.
