    The same thing happened in Dallas a few years ago. People thought it was a tornado but turns out it was very strong down burst winds. Thousands were without power, trees fell everywhere, and a crane in the downtown area fell onto an apartment building. One person was killed because of that crane collapse.

      I agree,l strong down burst of Wind, Atlanta had same thing few years ago downtown, if it had been a actual tornado in Houston then someone would have caught it on video, someone off in the background distance to see a long funnel on the ground and it would have been more damage then what was shown downtown., That wasn’t a tornado. A twister 🌪 through downtown it would definitely been on the on the camera on the towers because they have them and the news ch radar’s would have saw it

    I live in Eastern Oklahoma and the best money I ever spent was when we installed a Generac. Last time we lost power last Spring we were out of power for 13 days. I was the only one in my neighborhood that had power. And I was surprised at how little it added to my gas bill...

      I work from home 1/2 day on today and then drove to work afternoon. I remember thinking it was so humid and dry. It was a calmness like no wind until around right before the storm. So scary

      My husband works downtown Houston on Thursdays. He stayed home because I was having problems (I have MS and fibromyalgia). I was so glad because that storm hit where he catches the bus, and he probably wouldn't have made it home tonight. We live in Friendswood so we didn't get as much of that storm as others did, just the strong rain, really bad lightning, and thunder.

    I’m from Omaha Nebraska but live in Lincoln. Was waiting to pickup my daughter from school during a tornado warning April 26. The funnel cloud was right above the capital in downtown Lincoln and you could see the clouds going in opposite directions. It touched down about 15 miles to the east. My brother has a home here and in Houston .

    I'm really still not sure that this wasn't tornadic in some parts of town. The debris signature on things has that "swirl" pattern that straight lines don't do. we live in Friendswood, which is between Houston and Galveston. My husband works from home every day except Thursday and thankfully he wasn't in his office downtown today. We just had a lot of strong lightning, big thunder, and some wind, but nothing like the NW, center, and east parts of the city got.
    And this was at 6pm. If you look at how dark it was outside, that might give you a hint. We don't have sundown until 8 pm. And the sky here where we are got really "green" which is very much bad thunderstorm, hail, and tornado color. My husband was a chaser in the late 1970s in Oklahoma for University of Oklahoma and he was worried we were going to get that storm here.

  • @jayshaft3179

    That looked like a massive wedge tornado with the entire storm being the funnel. The way that moved through was like a massive eye wall, it's just freaky. Praying for Houston and all the other places that are storm damaged.

    Great coverage guys. Sure felt like a hurricane. Reminded me of 1983's Alicia that came right over us and busted high-rise windows. Glass everywhere. I'm puzzled over the transmission towers.

    • @charlayned
      @charlayned 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My brother was working in the Wells Fargo tower as a security guard during Alicia. The windows look so much like what he described. Seems that some of the buildings were trying a new roofing design that had gravel on the roofs. Well, the wind carried that right into all the windows. Today's storm didn't have that excuse, It was scary.

    Went through in event like this in goodland ks years ago, like about 2016. Very scary and crazy if you don't know what's going on. They shut down 70. The resin why it wasn't as bad is because the area is a rule ag area. Seeing what happened to houstan Reminds me of footage from the tornado that struck amirro in like the 70s. Very crazy. Down burst are dangerous to everyone, not just airplane piolets.

    I think the question that's been on people's minds for 200 years is: can tornados go through big cities? When it comes to nature, small towns villages farms churches trailer parks have all been obliterated by tornados. So can twisters go through a big city? It just goes to show you what chaos Mother nature can cause!!!
