Indie rock duo Brown Bird perform "Thunder and Lightning" during an interview with Radio Boston Host Meghna Chakrabarti at the WBUR studios September 19, 2011.
Thanks to everyone for keeping his music alive. We miss him terribly and feel so blessed to have so much of his music on TH-cam, Spotify, Pandora, etc.
Mr. Lamb, Dave was a friend, and when I relapsed with AML and went through Bone Marrow Transplant at Dana Farber shortly after Dave did, I thought we'd sit around some day and share war stories. The song "Focus" captures the experience of treatment so profoundly, the psychically-essential embrace of the pain. When I was first in the hospital, I remember writing about my "tether to the toxic pump," and when I heard that song, after he passed, I could barely breathe. He holds a special place in my heart, and I'm grateful beyond words that he left us with so many recordings (and Star Island memories:)
@@bighomeopathy2708 Thank you. I cannot tell you how much that warms our hearts. Michael's older brother had 3 years of chemo starting at age 6 for ALL leukemia. He is now our minister. After Mike was pronounced cured, my wife had two kinds of lethal uterine cancers. We just celebrated our 51st anniversary last summer. Our daughter's health started failing when David was sick and she passed a year ago. We certainly understand "tethered to the cure" in many settings and feel for you. We pray you are doing well.
Still to this day will never get my head round how such a genius talent was allowed to be taken away from the world at such a young age. R.I.P Dave Lamb, never forgotten.
There really is something special about Brown Bird. Nothing else feels the same way to me, and I can't say what a joy it is to live in an age where I can still listen to them despite their loss. I have Salt for Salt on vinyl and it's a true shame David didn't get to have the full career and life he deserved, but I appreciate that if nothing else he gets to continue on as the soundtrack to my and many others lives. That's something many people can't lay claim to. Thanks both to David Lamb and MorganEve Swain. ❤
Every now and then it just hits me that I'll never hear another new song from these two... the world lost an amazing talent and most people will never know... RIP
What. This is my first time listening to them. And I just found out from the comments that he has already passed away? Aw man, this is really sad.... RIP Dave.
Rest in peace to the big homie, he had great talent seemed to have an amazing personality. All his music sounds like he sang from his soul, the way he plays the guitar is soothing to mine.
I got to see her live really quick cause I was line for 3 hours up in Portland Maine and I still cried hearing her play there songs wishing he was there but she is amazing. It was an emotional show.
I know I'm only ten & a lot of people would say I don't know about music but it is so sad when a great person dies so young hearing that he passed brought tears to my eyes. So every one I say we raise trend in loving memory of Dave #we all are in you det rest in piece dave
Aiden Dannehold never let anyone say you know nothing about music... Music is a part of my life and my children's my 9 yr old daughter has a good ear and I know she knows more about music than most ppl
@@dminusmentalsidearm3685 If you weren't an internet idiot at 10 years old it's probably because you didn't have internet at that age, either because you're a poor or because you're a boomer.
that mastodon shirt while playing a wicked song is badass just `found this band today, and im sad to hear that dude died of leukemia years ago. to this I Say damn it. thank you for the good music while you were hear
It is sad to see the laylistf or Brown Bird and it will never be added to. His widow did work with Devil Makes Three while one of their people were doing something else.
Dave was my cousin. He and Morganeve spent the night at our house one night and jammed with me and my buddies. (He was a really badass drummer - could pull off Bonham licks like it was nothing). They stayed up late with us and we watched Beavis and Butthead. Lol! After that, it was very late and Morganeve said she was ready for bed. Dave agreed, but I mentioned how my brothers and I had recently watched the movie "strange brew," which was a childhood favorite of Dave's. I asked him "do you want to watch it?" He hesitated, and said "I feel like we have to now." They stayed up even later into the night, and we shared a lot of laughs. I will forever cherish the memory of that night with Dave and Morganeve. Dave had the kindest, most gentle spirit I have ever encountered, to this day. I miss my cousin very much, and I thank you all for keeping his memory alive!
I knew David when he was a young kid, just getting into music. Dude was a badass back then... very cool kid. I remember he and a friend dancing hysterically to this band I was playing with - it's etched in my mind. I'm pretty sure he took drum lessons with my brother, but can't remember. I was so thrilled to hear he pursued music and created such passionate music as this!! Fly man, fly. Taken way too soon - RIP young man - you are greatly missed.
Deep respect and a deep bow to David Lamb, your music hast touched many souls , including mine and many others and we will carry you in our souls forever, brother!
OMG Dave mastodon shirt rip brother I'm a new fan I'm ashamed to say I never knew this band existed till long after you were gone but I was listening to mastodon at this time wish I could have met you!
These two are incredible! I saw them for the first time in Madison, WI on Jan. 26th and I cant wait to see them again. I'll be working on growing my beard to show Dale how glorious his beard and music is.
When they're playing live, it's better than recording ... That can't be said about everyone. I compliment you Brown Bird... :-) Nice songs and beautiful couple, this is the music :-)
I'm sad I missed him. I went to see if they were touring a couple years ago and discovered he passed. I so enjoy the music. I was diagnosed with leukemia myself in 2019. It's a scary thing. Im no musical genius though. I wish I would have known him.
Thanks to everyone for keeping his music alive. We miss him terribly and feel so blessed to have so much of his music on TH-cam, Spotify, Pandora, etc.

I’ve been listening to brown bird for 5 years and had no idea. Its not fair.
Brown Bird has been a hand to hold for me.
I'm so sad I'll never be able to experience them live in person. Very thankful for social media when it comes to spreading music and love! 💖
Rest in Peace, David Lamb. Enjoy that great gig in the sky.
If you can hear this you are dying.

I really need to stop coming to TH-cam and accidentally falling in love with people.
Eh. Good as any place.
It’s heartbreaking. But atleast he left us with a strong legacy.

Just found this. Organic, intuitive, and real. Thank you...
Your music still lives! Thank you both for sharing your spirits and hearts!

There is thunder and lightning outside right now as I listen to this. Damn.
Maybe one of the best duos to play music. At least there are still these videos....

Rest In Peace David lamb. You’re a legend
Seeing an artist I recently found wearing the shirt of a band I've been a fan of for years makes me think I have a bit of good taste.
great song!
