    I'm 70 years old and been playing for 2 years and am maxed out at 225 feet, so I took my drone out and filmed myself from front, side and overhead views and it made a world of difference. I felt like I should be reaching 350 feet, but after looking at the video, I realized that I didn't have the arm speed (probably due to my age) and my reach back and rotation wasn't enough.

      I agree you can do it stay at it. I’m your age and started playing five years ago. I throw 300-330 consistently. Stick with lightweight high glide discs. 139-159 grams. Wraith - Krait - Stratas - Diamond - Renegade - Thrasher - Jade. All great discs for slower arms like ours. Keep watching Disc Maniac his tips are bang on. 300 is enough distance to shoot under par on most courses I rarely shoot over par. Cheers!

    Along with Tip #3 - ask your friends what they see. One of my biggest breakthroughs came from a friend mentioning that I was dipping on my pull through. I helped a friend have a breakthrough with him aim by noticing that he was rounding during his reachback. Neither of us thought that they had a problem, both made HUGE improvements after someone else noticed something.

      @DiscManiac28  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s great, I like that approach…. I had a friend mention I was falling over my front leg and it got me thinking which lead me to filming myself to see what he seen. Made a big difference

      @@jonathanstephens2897 Slow down and focus on keeping your elbow as far away from your body as you can. First, focus on just getting everything right at 1% power. As you add power, make sure you take slo-mo video to make sure your elbow doesn't drop. If it does, take power off until it looks good. The hardest part is taking it slow enough that your changes stick. It's not a one day thing. It takes weeks to months, depending on how quickly your body will reset its muscle memory.

    You have good basic tips. I am 77 and started playing around 2-3 yrs ago for fun. Just competing with myself and trying to increase my distance. I have doubled and tripled my first time distance, but I am still under 200 feet. After filming myself I have found I am making a number of mistakes. The problem is that if I think ( trying to correct my mistake )
    my distance goes down, I do better if I am not thinking and moving in one motion. Still not sure how do you make snap. Also, there are some baseball power hitters who do one leg stand before the pitch. I am OK with disc pick and grip, but not generating the power and snap. At the beginning I had bleeding in my finger tips. Plus, because of my artificial right hip I am mostly standing.

    • @DiscManiac28

      Hard to say exactly without seeing your form. It took me some time to find it but in getting snap several things have to happen at the some time for it to work.

    I am 56 years old. Tip #1 - Absolutely correct. I have fiddled and farted with some many discs over the years, I picked up a Innova Leopard that had been lying around, unused. 300 feet the first time out with it. What! Your point is simply: If you have correct form but not enough energy transferred into the disc, higher speed discs will not add distance. It is the combination of the power that each individual can create in their rotation with the properly selected disc.

    • @DiscManiac28
      @DiscManiac28  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct 👍, if you have correct form but you can’t get more speed or spin on disc then a faster disc won’t help. Unless you have a specific shot that needs to dump at end or hit specific lines

    • @stuartschwenke6656
      @stuartschwenke6656 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Discraft Flight Chart has 3 categories: All Players, Experienced, and Advanced. Most of us watching these videos are not advanced. Dump those discs. At my age and at my power level: I am super comfortable with Buzz, Stalker (1.6 rim; 6-speed not 7), Mantis, Undertaker, AvengerSS for BH. Notice that these are all in that neutral gap between Beginner and Experienced. I use the Athena and Vulture for FH only. It is finding those discs that compliment my form (good bad or ugly) that generates my power.

    My friends say I have great form. 2 of them took a course from a former pro in NC. But I can’t hit over 330’. But like I said in another post, that the more I can throw during the week, the more I can get over 300’. I haven’t been able to play half as much this year and I have noticed that my best distance throw has only been about 280’.

    • @DiscManiac28
      @DiscManiac28  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I notice when I take some time off then go play I get sore and so maybe if you play mOre frequently you may break down those muscles and they rebuild making you slightly more strong in those specific muscles, not sure really. Maybe muscle memory type of thing who knows. Ive heard of some people loosing distance when they stop for a while but I’m not 100% on it

Using this drill has been great in teaching me weight shift but still remaining balanced. I was always leaning over due to pulling. And this drill has been a great as reset when I feel off. I don’t have to sift through my entire form trying to find the error or errors. I can go back to this and reset.
