Hi @Souvanik Maity. The NSFWQI was prepared by Brown with the expert opinion shared by 152 water quality experts selected when this method was designed. So during the process, when temporary weightage was assigned, the value assigned by all the 152 experts was average by Brown and that is why the value obtained are 0.17/0.15/0.8 etc Thank you

If I neglect any parameter( 8 parameters ) like Phosphate and then modify the weightage factors proportionally and finally calculate WQI, will that be wrong?
Hi @Sajid Shahriar. Technically this method incorporates 9 water parameters. So all of these 9 parameters were assigned different weight factors (So if you compute the sum of all the 9 weight factors, the value is equal to 1). if you modify it, the weight factor will also be changed (the overall Wi value will not be equal to 1). But there are a few research papers that modify the same. How they do it, you can refer to these journals. Thank you
@@sajidshahriar6386 NSFWQI was design keeping in mind the 9 parameters incorporated and subsequently, weightage was pre-assigned to all parameters right at the time the method was developed. The temperature calculation is wrong. The Q value curve is for delta temperature, which is the difference in temperature between a reference point upstream and the rest of the points measured. If you think about it, it makes no sense that only stream water at 0°C could get a 100 point score. It’s not even the optimal temperature for most water organisms.
