I just recently bought a carrera digital set. Ive programed one car so far. But im having a problem. How do I start and stop the ghost car? Every time I put the ghost car on the track it wants to take off running.
To stop it, press the code button once on the control unit before putting the car on the track, then press the lane change button on the controller with the car on the track.
That’s what I thought too, until I researched if people where able to run more than 6 cars. I don’t recall exactly which forums I saw, but I’ve seen people saying that were able to run 8 cars at one point. Since I use additional supply which minimizes the transistors while giving the cars sufficient power, this gave me the feeling that it was possible to run 1 to 2 more cars. Even though it’s a short track, I still considered adding power supply just in case which has helped with running 6 cars smoothly. I’m honestly not like a expert at these things, but I do try to at least be knowledgeable about it so I hope this in a way helped.
Really nice set up.not too big just the kind of size im going to do.Can i ask so you could in theory have 5 ghost cars vs you and your car and you could start at the back and say a 20 lap race to get to the front.Would the ghost cars let you overtake all of them or do they block you.What extra bit of kit do you like the best.Im liking the lap tower.Going to buy the carrera 3 car set soon.Thanks D.
Thank you. Yes, I’ve ran 6 cars for more than 20 laps on this track before so it’s possible. For running ghost cars, I suggest installing anti lane change chips under lane change track which I did for this one. They prevent cars from crashing into each other at lane changes, as ghost cars do change lanes randomly. Ghost cars won’t always block you as if they know you’re there, but they can do so randomly. To make it not too easy to overtake them, make sure each car you’re ghosting is going the same pace as each other as best as you can. And just asking, what do you mean by which extra kit I like best?

@@D...Charger Oh okay, yes I think that and the start light are nice and help make the track better looking. Though to me it looks even better with the scenery that’s been added after I uploaded this.
It’s because the cars weren’t alongside each other enough for the chip to activate. There’s nothing actually wrong with the chip itself, it’s just how it operates.
Ideally the sooner thew better! BUT if your using the standard short pit entrance, if the car is too fast and the sensor doesn't register you will have to pit again! So ideally you want the more gradual pit entrance and the sensor as close to entrance as possible without this dilemma. You can even have a double lane pit row!
It’s nice that the cars aren’t colliding into each other randomly :)

I thought you could only have 6 cars on track at once? Howd you get so many to run?

The pit lane sensor should be closer to the entry, otherwise not bad
