A slight step down from Fury Road, but still fun. It weared off more towards absurd comedy, for the large part thanks to the Hemsworth"s performance of the Dementus character. I feel that the franchise still idealizes and empathizes with females in general, while picking on and satirizing the 'male society'. In other words: men are generally bad with a few good apples; women are generally good with a few bad apples.

Yeah, definitely! Even in the theater I had fun but i really needed that rewatch at home. I totally agree on the absurd comedy and honestly it totally worked for me, haha. Fury Road had plenty of absurd elements so I didn't bat an eye when it came to Dementus. I think that's a solid take that I honestly didn't even think about. I can also see how that messaging could rub people the wrong way but I think it's an interesting conversation to have and something that we don't see (not that we don't see it at all but) often enough.
Thanks for your comment and sharing your thoughts!!

There are several bad women in Furiosa, you could argue Furiosa is even a bad for helping Imortan Joe. I think for the most part George Miller is way more even handed than most of the movies we have been getting.
The wasteland is an inhospitable place where people have to do horrible things to survive. Fury Road is Furiosa’s redemption story.

@@CH-fp6gj All "bad" women are depicted in "men's world", as if they had to adapt to the bad environment to survive. I think Millers might have a stereotypical gender thinking: women have default good innate traits, opposed to men's default bad, toxic innate traits. There are also direct implications that it's men's fault the world of Mad Max had nuclear apocalypse.
I know such clear dichotomy might make a good drama, but it's idealistic and not how real world works. Gender is not directly liked to good or bad personality traits, both genders can have either. Society may put certain roles and attributes to genders but even then it's not guaranteed and clear cut as in the movie.

Not quite as good as Fury Road but still good. Woke IS bad in movies, especially when it's constant preaching and you're taken out of the story. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was boring for me. Will be interested to hear your opinion.

I agree that Fury Road is better but Furiosa is still a good movie!
I think WOKE and the conversation around it is a slippery slope in life and in media. I don't think it's a bad thing, I think it's important to be aware and inclusive but, again, it's a slippery slope. I do think that it can be bad in media but not for reasons I think a lot of people online complain about, I think it's fine for media to reflect society. I think a movie having a woman lead is not inherently bad but when it comes to bad writing and storytelling (or constant preaching) around being woke THEN I think there's something there with the conversation.
Oh man, don't get me started on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, haha.
I'm going to watch it again and put together a video for this week 👏🏼
