I believe the reason in “wake up” she’s not singing fully in her chest voice in that one part is because the whole point of the song is that it’s the first time she’s sang since her mom passed. So her voice is a little “rusty” so to speak, she’s relearning how to trust it again and kinda break that barrier. I think it was done on purpose as opposed to in the second verse when she transitions into it much smoother and fuller.

The reason why they didn’t get together in the first season is bc Maddison is 16 and Charlie is 22 their 6 years apart so there will probably be no relationship anytime soon

quick rundown: our boys were part of a band called sunset curve in the nineties but they are some bad hotdogs and died. julie was cleaning out her garage after her mom died that she used as a studio and found the sunset curve album and played it. our boys appeared and they helped her get back into music. they are visible when playing with julie, but they’re not in other situations, like when alex was dancing with dirty candy in the all eyes on me song. also you should react to stand tall, unsaid emily, and this band is back from julie and the phantoms they’re all really good and highlight the boys’ voices

We NEED a part 2 with “Unsaid Emily”; Luke the one who you said looks like Jesse Mccartney ran away from home at 17, leaving his mum and dad on bad terms; his mum didn’t want her 17 year old in a rock band. While on tour, he died and that song was what he wrote for her before he died.

There is an inclination from the first verse to the second, then to the bridge. She’s building. Like the other comments before, she’s re-visiting a voice she hasn’t used in quite some time. Theatrically speaking, we just get the amazing voice. But to know the story, you’ll know the dynamic of her “rebirth” so to speak. Amazing show!

During Wake up, those werent here neighbors, that was her dad and brother. Whenever the boys perform with her, everyone can see them, but once the music stops, they disappear. In all eyes on me, no one can see Alex dancing with them because Julie is the only person they can see when they perform. If they play by themselves, no one can see them but they can hear them. Here's the low down on some of the questions you had.
Julie and Luke like each other it's just he is a ghost so they can't really be together. In The Edge Of Great, Luke was trying to get Julie to sing with him. But she wouldn't because her best friend Flynn, doesn't want her to get hurt falling in love with a ghost. So she told Julie to avoid Luke's eyes in the song, but he comes over to her any way she fails so they are totally meant to be.
Alex joins in All Eyes On Me I think because he likes that style that Carrie does. FYI Alex is gay which is so adorable, he wears pink most of the time Owen who plays Alex doesn't think he is a great dancer but he so is.
Wake Up is the first song Julie sings in over a year after losing her mother. Madison Reyes who plays Julie, this was her first-ever roll on screen and she is so talented her voice is beautiful. She wrote a song called Perfect Harmony with Charlie who plays Luke there voices are magic together. Also, that was the garage sing sung in at her house, her dad and brother could hear her because they live there.
You really need listen "Usaid Emily" and "The Other side of Hollywood " by Cheyenne Jackson these are my two favorite songs of this show

The wrap on the show is that this girl named Julie’s mom died about a year ago. These ghosts showed up from an old band, they died in 1995. They showed up when Julie played their song on the record player in the families garage. Alex, Luke, and Reggie. Luke is the beanie guy, Alex is the drummer, and Reggie is the other guitarist. Julie got kicked out of the music program, because she didn’t sing since her mom died, because her mom was the reason she started music. In “Wake Up” she sang for the first time in over a year. She lied to the guys about playing and singing, and that’s why they looked like that when they caught her singing. They wanted to help Julie get back into the music program, and they did. Luke gave her a song to sing, and at a school pep-rally, she sang in front of the entire school. That’s when they found out that when they all play and sing with Julie, people can see them other than just Julie. Julie got back into the music program, and they decided to become a band.
This is the beginning of the show, lots of other things go on, but this is the base. Thank you for reading this long comment! :D

So Julie in this episode realizes she has feelings for Luke but knows it’s a bad idea and try’s to avoid him during the song. That’s why Julie is dancing with Reggie and then Alex but not with Luke which confuses Luke and he shakes his head and acts all jealous and adorable. So he does the little guitar thingy because he’s like “pay attention to me” and so yeah that’s that whole thing.
