    Thanks for sharing and now we need to add that one to our list of plants to buy this coming fall.

      This is a great blackberry option, just keep in mind they will try to take over if given the chance!

    Haha, that black berry is obviously thornless by the way your handling it. We have some wild ones here on the farm, thorny but good fruit.
    Getting cold here, but enjoying the stew cooked on the range.
    Take care guys.

      Hey Kezza, yeah definitely thornless. We had a couple of thorn varieties on the old property that we're going to skip here. Must be cool to have a wild source of berries, just a little jealous of that! Stay warm, we're hitting 110 degrees heading into summer so we're doing the opposite!

      Glad to hear you're establishing a garden. You just can't beat harvesting your own food and tasting the difference! We do plan on having farm tours once we get a few things settled and in place. Not sure when that will be, but hopefully this fall if things go well.

    I planted a Prime Ark Traveller blackberry this spring. 😊 haven't had fruit yet as it's just getting going. Do they fruit in spring and fall or just spring? I have a boysenberry which is in a large pot and it still manages to root into other pots nearby. I was thinking of pulling it out because it's taking over and is too large for the 5ft trellis. Also it's very thorny 😥 but then I tasted the fruit which is delicious. I decided to get a cattle panel and arch it between the side of our house and the block wall. I'll repot the new canes and train them over the arch, hopefully keeping the thorns out of the way.

      Hey Michaela. Yes, the Prime Ark will fruit in the spring and fall for you once it's established. As for the boysenberry, boy do we feel your pain (literally!) Those things grow like crazy and try to stick you every chance they get, but man oh man are the fruit delicous!

    Hi, I have been watching all your video's on Blackberries. I purchased 3 Triple Crown Blackberry plants, they are small barely a stick. I have them in my homemade potting soil made from flower poms of mimosa tree and some coire and coffee grounds, its very loose yet hold moisture well. They got crisp from the sun but are recovering well. I am thinking of putting them in larger individual pots to get through the summer. In your older video's I think your blackberries are in full sun planted directly in the ground? If so, did you provide sun protection at first to get them established?

    • @EdgeofNowhereFarm
      @EdgeofNowhereFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Kelly. Great call on getting this variety, once they're producing you won't be disappointed. As for the pots, we just up-potted this one into a 7.5 gallon pot with the Kellogg's potting mix. We've found that mix just does a very good job of maintaining the right soil consistency and moisture. We did plant the one on our old property directly into the ground and it never had any shade/sun protection. They do very well in full sun in the ground as long as you can maintain that soil moisture. This one in the pot gets afternoon shade and it definitely needs it. We are also watering it every day while we're above 105 degrees. Oh and 1-2" of mulch in that pot will definitely help it out. Hope this helps keep your little ones growing!

      @@EdgeofNowhereFarm I live in Bullhed city, 10B. we typically get hotter then the rest of AZ. I know I must mulch to maintain moisture as you said, I mainly use grass and weeds to achieve this. As I said they are little sticks, should I directly plant them or should I stick with pots right now?

    • @EdgeofNowhereFarm
      @EdgeofNowhereFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GHumpty1965 ok, thanks for the additional detail. With that in mind, I would say make sure they're getting mottled sun, say under a tree or something similar. Once we hit late September/October you could plant them in the ground if you want. If you keep them in pots you'll want to up-pot them come fall and then again as needed. Fingers crossed this will work!

    Great video as always. I have a tiny prime ark 45 variety. Is the Triple Crown the best tasting blackberry you have tasted here in our Phx area?
    Thanks

    • @EdgeofNowhereFarm
      @EdgeofNowhereFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Eric. The Triple Crown is really hard to beat when it comes to flavor. They're extremely vigorous growers as well, so they can take some abuse and keep on going. The Prime Ark however is a much heavier producer in our experience. Partially due to the fruit size which is almost twice the size of these. You're like us though, so why not both?? :)

    • @ericbowers114

    • @EdgeofNowhereFarm
      @EdgeofNowhereFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Big Lou, it definitely will. It might be worth keeping it in a pot until fall and then getting it in the ground. With a tree that small a heat wave might do it in!

      Hey there! You should be able to get these to thrive in Vegas as well. We just had another viewer from Vegas on the farm this past weekend and we talked about this same variety for his homestead as well.

      @@EdgeofNowhereFarm should i put coffee grounds?

    • @EdgeofNowhereFarm
      @EdgeofNowhereFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lasvegasimmig5326 you can, but they won't need coffee grounds specifically. If you're going to grow them in a pot just use a good, organic potting soil. In the ground it's best to put them in a small bed to create a good, healthy soil that they can grow into. Fertilize them 3x/year in February, May and September. Drip irrigation works best, but make sure you're encouraging the roots to grow away from the bush and put water in the entire bed to allow the bushes to root out and continue to grow. With that you should be in good shape!

      We use the Kellogg brand potting soil in the pink bag. You can purchase them from Home Depot or Lowes. We keep the pots in afternoon shade. Under a tree would work out well also so they receive partial shade during the middle of the day. We water these every day during the summer. They really need it!
