Yes, I do see your point. Especially after what happened to Misawa, I seem to have realized that I and most people seem to expect too much from these great athletes. As you said yourself: "Misawa was a victim of his own talent." All he and other pro wrestlers have done in their careers is amazing, and I have found greater respect for them.
a slow paced but high impact match in all of it's glory. also misawa is a total monster !! he beat up joe using elbows and forearms !! joe threw everything at misawa, including the kitchen sink and it still wasn't enough !! RIP MISAWA
man, Joe got an elbow clinic in this match! the elbow damage added up hahaha. not too many wrestlers could take that many Misawa elbows and still function, except for a young Mick Foley or Meng, or possibly a young Harley Race, Steve Willams, or some of those other blood-and-snot gritty mo fos from the old school.
I thought they told a good story here with Samoa Joe being the cocky guy with a chip on his shoulder and Misawa being the level headed legend. Kudos to Misawa for making Joe look like a million bucks.
@TheCookieDookie could be, i think it was more of Joe carrying the match for Misawa, and then being squashed. I mean, the awesome match he had with Kenta Kobashi makes sense because they powerhoused each other to death.
At this point, Misawa was way too old and busted to perform at peak levels Misawa was a victim of his own talent. People expected him to perform as well as he did in the 90s. It's almost like they didn't know the man was 30 years+ even IN the 90s! As for Joe, he was up against a living legend at the time. It would have been very disrespectful to make Misawa look bad in comparison. Either that or he had an off night.
ok, in the whole, it was sort of a good match, but watch it again, Misawa had NO offense, he did 2 snapmares, a couple holds, and the rest were elbows, compared to Joe who used about every routine he has. I realize he's a legend, RIP, but the powersets in this match made no sense.

Awesome. Amazing match. Congratulations to both atheletes. Long Live Samoa Joe. Rest In Peace, Mitsuharu Misawa. Hail Japan.
Misawa was never in shape and always got out of breath but he could throw those elbows like nobody's business!!

Samoa Joe has a lot of respect for Misawa to get pinned by a very stiff Elbow.
Joe: Island driver! Muscle-buster! Senton! STF!
Misawa: Elbow! Elbow! Elbow..... elbow...
@KenFan4life you mean a rolling elbow?
This match was dissapointing.
I know both of these guys are capable if much more than they gave here.
What would Misawa's offense be in this match if he didn't throw any elbows?

that was a good match but not a great match like joe vs kobashi which is sad cuz it has as much potential
i blame misawa. his age is starting to really
show.

idk about anyone else, but that damn weird spin armbar thing made me cringe...
Im sorry but crowd heat or not this match was not better than Joe vs Kobashi.
Awesome upload, but I'm disappointed by the quality of the match. Misawa's comeback was a joke...
