yogibear2k2 there was mass unemployment in the UK. Many were impoverished. It is ironic, that this life led to such good music. Many bands wrote and performed songs based on the social situation.
I was born in 79. And looking back we were really, really shielded from just how poor everyone was in the UK in the 80s... I grew up in Liverpool and I wouldn't demean the people who loved me by allowing our experiences to be judged... But I was ALWAYS surrounded by music like this. And it was blissful.

OMG. This is truly awesome. Wayne your charismatic presence is out of this world. Fantastic song, fantastic everything ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I'm blown away by this song and video 💕💕💕💕
I remember being dragged along by a girlfriend to one of The Missions early gigs at Newcastle Tiffanys when they were touring the Gods Own Medicine album. I really didn't get the whole goth thing this band were attached to - still don't & probably never will - but hand on heart that gig was one of the best I've ever seen. I was only a kid at the time, 15 years old I reckon, and since then I've been to hundreds of gigs but few will even come close to how good that Mission gig was. I always maintained a bit of a secret interest in them for years after & I'm a bit crushed I've missed their recent tour. To my ears anyway this band were from an era when music really mattered & often soundtracked the various directions & tailspins your life took moving forwards. I miss that era & listening to this incredible track this evening I'm instantly transported back there. A timeless classic from an absolutely incredible band.
I’m here atm, revisiting my late teens listening to one of the tunes that enhanced my inner ear to what music is supposed to sound like… this and the cult’s sanctuary before it started my life’s journey with music that grabs your soul with just a single note from the intro and then pulls you along inside composition until the outros last strum or lyric demands you to play it again and much much louder… up to 11 obviously…🙏✌️💙🤘🦊
Got dragged into the Mission on 2016 by my now wife WOW how did I miss such a brilliant group? Now have seen them around 20 times including Wayne at Whitby in 2019 Amazing group

Congrats! They're one of my top 5 all time favorite bands. This came out the year I graduated high school. One of the few bands that I love almost every song. Love Me To Death (Gods own Medicine) has one of the best guitar solos.
