Been watching your video since it released. Im super hyped on getting one in a few days. 13:36 Wasn't planning on it, but after hearing this, im getting one of these bass chorus pedals.
Sweet, I hope you're as happy with it as I am! I think you will be, though - as long as you're not bothered by narrow string spacing. Do you play other bass VI or baritone-type instruments? And yeah, that Bass Chorus is surprisingly useful, especially on the bass VI, because it responds so differently on the low and high strings. Anyway, thanks for watching + hope you make a video with yours when it arrives!
@ShiceSquad mostly play bass in the band, but i play a lot of acoustic guitar in my free time. I had the old ibanez src6 years ago but didn't get a lot of time to play with it. This one looks like an improved version of the older one.
@@Sky-fb9cz Oh good, well you should love it then. Please report your results + make an unboxing video if you're up for it (I'm interested in collecting quality information, specifically: how well does it play out of the box before any kind of setup?).
Nice one man, always some good thorough reviews here! Love watching you play all thru it as you talk about dift aspects and the superfuzz outro was nice 👌👏
You mean this 3-way mid frequency switch? As far as I can tell, it's just an EQ-related thing - selecting which band of mids you want it to focus on. I just can't hear the difference. The other switch bypasses the electronics to effectively make passive. As for bass VI-to-baritone selector, I don't quite get what you mean, 'cause that's a tuning thing - and this switch definitely doesn't change your tuning. Would you care to elaborate on that?
@@ShiceSquad Yes, this is a 3 way mid freq switch, with 250, 400 and 700 hz. I say it is a baritone switch, as when on high gain tones the 700 one sounds a lot more tighter, it just growls. This is a weird hybrid, not quite a guitar not quite a bass, a bass guitar with guitar string spacing, a guitar with a short scale bass scale, also Ibanez gave it a lot of tone shaping options, including the "baritone knob" as I call it, you can tune it in a variety of tunings. I love it, I really want one in the not so distant future.
@@randomcitizenname Oh sweet, that makes a lot of sense, thanks! I just couldn't hear the difference between any of the 3 switch positions. I'll try bypassing the amp and going direct to headphones, that ought to make it more noticable. Sounds like you really know your stuff, you must have a lot of experience with similarly complicated instruments. This SRC6 is way more like a bass than any other bass VI in my collection. My Eastwoods both have classic single-coil guitar pickups and are not really suitable for replacing a regular bass guitar in a band. But this one has Bartolinis and bass boost, it would totally work for standard bass duty, and then you could switch it up a little and chord right out. Anyway, if you do get one of these, I hope you'll post about it! Or anything else interesting in your collection, for that matter.
@@ShiceSquad I don't really have all that much experience with such instruments, mostly a morbid fascination which makes me consume lots of videos about them. I suggest in this case videos like the unbiased gear review from arnoldplayguitar, or Ibanez SRC6MS Metal Demo from andrew baena. And of course the person who was tasked to showcase it in some songs, Manuel Gardner Fernandes from the band Unprocessed, he has a few songs either on his channel or on the ibanez channel. You can get a nice idea of what some people might use this for, outside of the conventional bass use. Monster tone from this guitar. About my stuff, I hope to start recording some demos next year in the spring.
@@randomcitizenname Thanks for the leads, I'll check those guys out. I hope you'll come back and drop a link here once you've recorded some stuff next year!
.026 to .095? Wow! That's crazy thin. I run .125s on the low B and I thought that was a little sloppy. Considering going thicker. But mine's a regular 34" scale with straight frets. I guess that's the difference.
Low B, oh we're not talking about the same thing. The low B to high C thing - that's a conventional six-string bass. For that I would use 135 to 35. But this Bass VI is E-to-E. Regular guitar tuning 1 octave down. And the manufacturers usually put strings on it that are WAY too thin - this one came 84 to 24. And I would like to go much heavier than 95 for the low E - but that would require major set-up work to get it to sit right in the nut and saddle. Anyway, what kind of 6-string do you play? I've only got one in my whole collection, a fretless, but I'd like to pick up a fretted sixer at some point too. Any recommendations?
Greetings and thanks for watching! The classic reason for a Bass VI is that it's a "bass for guitarists" 'cause it's got tight string spacing (meant for pickstyle) and it's laid out like a guitar, E-A-D-G-B-E tuning. It's also good for top-line melodies on bass like you hear in The Cure and Joy Division. As I see it, however, the only thing that makes it truly "necessary" is for playing in a two-piece band like Shice Squadd, 'cause it makes it easy to hammer out a rudimentary bassline and a rudimentary top "melody" line at the same time.
Sweet, I'm gonna have to check that out. It's amazing what all Ibanez makes, so futuristic and so many choices. Are there any videos of you playing it?

@ShiceSquad I may give it a go. Not really good at making youtube videos or being in front of a camera, but It sounds kinda fun.

Glad you liked it - that Superfuzz is soon to make an appearance in Scheißenkaoss 😈
@ShiceSquad woooop🎇🎉
already know it's gonna be amazing
The clean sound with the rolled of mids sound nice (full bass and sweet sounding treble strings).
Buenísimo 🔥🔥🔥
I use the mid switch a lot. But I lightened the gauges and play very high gain.
Love mine!
Damn, you've got one helluva channel! Any tracks with the SRC6? Also, what kind of situations do you use this mid switch in?
NIICCEE! 💯🎶🎸🤟🖤

I hope that makes its way onto the next Shicefield project (if it hasn’t already).
That sounds like incitement to do another Shicefield song. Needless to say, I'm game. You got anything for me to work on?
I sure I can conjure up something. I’m still deep into my next full length.
@@maxwethersfield Sweet, can't wait to hear it! No hurry about making a new Shicefield track, I'll be up for it any time you are.
Fantastic 🔥
sweet 🤘
Hey, LBZ, thanks for stopping by! Have you ever done much work on any kind of low-range longscales like this?
Great color on it
Black walnut 🥰
The small Switch apparently is the baritone Button. It allows on the fly switching between bass6 and baritone
