My idea for how Mihawk is that he only uses the big sword for his supers. All of his normals and specials are just using the dinky little knife that he fought Zoro with. He has short reach, but is very mobile, can build meter quickly, and his supers all do insane damage. On defeat he does the Slayer thing where he's not KOed, he just lies there and looks mildly impressed with you
I think we've reached a point in the story where he's not strong enough to warrant that. He's powerful, but someone like Kaido would probably still require him at least use his regular sword.
@@berserk4447 since he is now a warlord, he is technically the first warlord we ever meet, ignoring the technicality that he is only one now. It all depends on which rules you are applying to the question. The technicality in this case is that we count Buggy’s future status ( as he is still the same character ) Edit: of course, if we were to count future warlords and current warlords separate, then there no longer is any technicality, but that is never explicitly said
An idea for sanji, when fighting a female character his moveset changes from black leg to "love struck" mode, an entirely cosmetic change where he doesnt hit a female oponent but inflicts "cringe damage" from his proposals and declarations of love
Quick correction: Blackbeard's power isn't necessarily to steal devil fruits on the fly, but to shut them off when a user comes in contact with him. So, I would say his special gimmick could be shutting off the drive button of his opponent. Extremely powerful, but with some ArcSys magic they could probably make it work. Maybe, not only is he slow, but he inherently suffers more hitstun than the average character does (lore-wise, he's able to take damage, but it hurts like hell and he doesn't have logia invulnerability; you could probably capture the same feel with a health reduction, but hitstun is more unique).
Facts we dont know how he can acquire a second devil fruit. It's implied that eating a devil fruit user you can get the fruit only if you dont already have one.
nah taking more hitstun would make him unviable as you would probably be able to combo thing you normaly couldnt and it would just be an horror movie pplaying bb
@@rubenazanauta157 The point would be that you can perform combos on Blackbeard you wouldn't normally be able to do. However, Blackbeard's abilities are supposed to be broken enough to make up for that. Shutting off your opponent's buttons is insanely powerful, especially in a game that would depend so heavily on those powers. And his other devil fruit abilities are downright unfair, so allowing characters to do character specific combos seems like a fine trade off. Then again, I'm only speculating. Characters in existing Arc System games already have character-specific combos and setups based on their size- Blackbeard wouldn't standout much in that respect. The only thing is that it shouldn't allow infinites.
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but DragonBall FighterZ was heavily based off DBZ: Extreme Butoden, a 3DS fighting game that was made by the same team. Extreme Butoden had a sister game, only released in Japan. That game was One Piece: Great Pirate Colluseum. It was basically Extreme Butoden, but with slightly different mechanics and One Piece characters. In fact, the games ran on the same engine, and were so similar that you could actually cross play Extreme Butoden with Great Pirate Colluseum. Yeah thats right, One Piece VS DBZ developed by ASW is technically already a thing. So the idea of a One Piece FighterZ already has a bit of a foundation. We can just examine how Extreme Butoden changed in the transition to its spiritual successor, DBFZ, and apply similar logic to Great Pirate Colluseum.
I think someone told me that they've managed to get the crossplay working through emulation, but I dont remember for sure. I do know that both EB and GPC seem to run pretty good on some 3ds emulators at least, and I've seen pretty high quality footage of a couple crossplay matches, so it might be the emulators
For a potential Season 4: -Shanks (Remaining Yonko that has played a huge part on the story from the very beginning) -Big Mom (Remaining Main Antagonist Post timeskip that had yet to appear in the game) -Borsalino (Remaining Vice Admiral Marine and part of the Triumvirate with Kuzan and Akainu) -King (Kaido’s Second in command and Right Hand whom gave Zoro one hell of a fight) -Ivankov (A leader and founder of the Revolutionaries alongside Dragon, and helped Luffy and Sanji) -Uta (The latest villain of the anniversary film Red, Shanks’ daughter AND Luffy’s Childhood Friend)
Points I appreciate here: - Including all the Straw Hats. I know this feels like a given, but some games (mostly crossovers) have included non-Straw Hat allies over the crew, which just feels wrong to me. The most egregious was probably J-Stars, which had Ace and Hancock but only Luffy as far as Straw Hats go - The Nami fighting style is really interesting and fits her really well! - No multiple versions of the same characters! It annoyed me in Fighterz that we had multiple Goku forms, some blatantly just power-ups that should be exactly the same but stronger - Great ideas for all the fighting styles! Some really creative ones, I especially liked Nami, Franky and Buggy's gimmicks
It does feel weird to have other characters over the straw-hat, but in way it does make sense to do that for crossovers. they can only have a limited number of characters by serie, and need to represent different side of said franchises with just theses characters (even if One Piece, being one of the most popular is generally among the series that get to have the most characters) . So they'll just stick with the Straw-hat that fit the more in the game their making/ or the more populars as representative of the crew, then add a vilain, a iconic ally or rival, etc. For exemple, Jump Force tended to include , the protagonist, and the main/ one of the most Iconic vilain by default. Then (for manga that got to have more than 2 characters), the rival or deuteragonist, a ally, a 2nd vilain, the heroine (if she is a fighter, which...is'nt always the case in shonen manga to say the least), etc. Of course i had many other issue with Jump Force roster , but that's a other story. A One Piece specific game have no excuse, however. the crew got to be here.
@@starpencil To be fair, until REALLY recently for Koby, we didn't know much about how he fights. Today however ? Yeah, he definitely feels like a serious candidate for first DLC, if not main Roster. Especially when you realized, after Kidd and Law, he's the closest thing to a "Rival" Luffy has.
Thorgi: Doesn't spoil Ace's death, which happened over a decade ago. Also Thorgi: Spoils Yamato's devil fruit, Robin's Demonio Fleur, and Kid's awakening, which the anime hasn't even covered yet. Regardless, I love the idea for this game.
I really think Big Mom could/should replace Hody ( I mean COME ON she's a Yonko ) and have the same/similar mechanics . Her ability is to manipulate souls by either stealing the souls of people who fear her ( take a super level if the enemy's HP is a certain % below hers ) or consume her own soul/lifespan to make herself stronger ( the blue health consuming ability Thorgi gave to Hody )
Came in to say this, lol nobody wants to play fucking Hody Jones 🤣. And personally I would cut judge and replace bullet with bege. I feel like one doesn't really NEED the movie villains as bad as DB does and if needed Shiki would be my pic based on moveset potential.
The problem is that Big Mom is literally the largest human character in the world, so any shrinkage on her would he way more egregious than with other characters.
@@voydcat8089 And ? If they're already doing the rest of the Yonko ( who already need to have their heights adjusted ) why not include her , especially over somebody like Hody Jones who nobody likes .
I was originally into having a DBZ FighterZ sequel. But you completely convinced me how cool it would be if FighterZ focused on a different anime series with each installment
I know he isn't very popular, but Gecko Moria almost feels like he was made to be a puppet fighter for a fighting game. He fights with his immortal shapeshifting doppelgänger shadow with whom he can switch places at will and he could also summon zombies.
I feel like Kizaru, Magellan, and Rayleigh would all be great characters to include, particularly over some of your picks like Hody and the movie villains. Also for the Sanji not hitting women thing, a good solution would be that when he fights a female character, the pre and post battle cinematic shows that it is in fact Bon Clay that was fighting, just using Sanji's face. This would also make sense because when they fought in Alabasta it showed their fighting styles were similar, and Sanji also trained at the Kamabaka kingdom (idk if I spelled that right), where the people/person Bon Clay looked up to were from
@alemations7756 While i personaly like theses 3 characters, Rayleight have had more of a role as a supporting mentor than a active player in the manga (outside of Flashback, that is), and his reasoning for including Akainu and Kuzan over Kizaru or Fujitora make sense. And the movie vilains (especially the two he picked) make for great surprise pick and represent a other side of the franchise that IMO deserve to be acknowledge (in fact, i'd even ad Shiki over Hody or Judge, since he was the first movie vilain to be a big deal). @@sheikhtk1795 Shanks is very popular and a key character because he gave Luffy his hat, but we barely if at all saw him fight in the manga (especially sicne this video was made one year ago). With a fighting game with a limited number of character slot (unlike, for example, the DS platform fighters) it make sense for him to be left out in favor of more active characters.
Honestly, I feel like Bon Clay would be cool, kinda like a makeshift character like Double from Skullgirls. Or make him a random select option like twelve in sfv (he can change his physique as well).
Bon Clay would be cool, but a lot of the High Ranking Baroque Works characters could be cool. Mr. 3 and 4 could be cool, Miss Golden Week could be a gimmicky character--hell, you could even get Mr. 13 and Miss Friday in on it, have them be a combo fighter like Duck Hunt or Banjo & Kazooie.
Maybe harder to implement but have him act like Rouge from X-men Vs Street Fighter. Have him steal a move from the last person hit in the face. also have him transform w/o a different pallet so that it can be confusion on screen
Something they could do for Bon Clay is have him stand in for Sanji when Sanji’s fighting a female opponent, I think that would be a creative way to handle it and pretty funny too.
I would save Ace and Yamato for the the very 1st DLC, especially since it works story-wise. I would instead put Sabo and Enel in their spots. Ace and Sabo could still play very differently from each other despite having the same powers, and then Enel being one of the best villains in the series.
Not to mention, Sabo fights with his pipe as his weapon, channeling fire through it and his fists. Ace would inherently have less range than Sabo, however more Fire-based attacks.
Oh I am ALL here for this. I’ve been saying it for ages, but One Piece’s roster is absolutely perfect for a fighting game since no two characters fight even remotely similar. The biggest issue is just that the main crew cast already fills up a 10 character roster, so considering the first installment of a fighting game would probably have 20-25 characters, that already takes up almost half of the roster there and makes the remaining spots VERY competitive. Looking forward to see how you go about the list!
For me the biggest issue with a 2D one piece fighting game is the Size of some of the characters. Luffy is your average 1.7m but Somebody like katakuri is 5m+ and I can't See that Working. Useless you Size them down of course.
@@bravebellamy1905 Yeah, canon sizes would be a bit of an issue. The Pirate Warriors games kind of skirt this issue by making characters slightly more reasonable... except Kaido and Big Mom who are special made as “giant” characters with slightly different controls. Which might make them difficult to implement without super scaling them down. Which isn’t the worst thing in the world coughcoughRidleycough but definitely would change the feeling of their original towering designs. Then again I’m sure some fans would cry if Usopp was able to take out Kaido or Big Mom by himself, just look at the people still mad about Krillin and Yamcha being playable in FighterZ. They’re wrong, but they exist.
I think we should also take into consideration that this is a team fighter. So we might expect a larger roster. Not by much but big enough to fit the big fan favourites and obscure.
@@snelldor1474 That’s definitely true. But using Fighter Z as a reference since most certainly the video will, going by the title of One Piece Fighter Z, the game had an initial roster of 24 (and the only ‘repeats’ were SSB Goku and Vegeta, and I only say ‘repeats’ since they can reuse a lot of the ArcSys super complex models, not the movesets and frame data and whatnot). So before the DLC side of the video it’ll still likely be super competitive. I’m hoping for at least one or two “Ginyu” style fighters where they can throw in a lot of minor characters into their big boss’s moveset.
@@snelldor1474 Honestly with as big as One Piece's cast is, and with some of the most popular characters having zilch to go off with a moveset, I don't think even all of the most popular or important characters would fit in a game with a full 3 seasons of DLC
I think instead of the clone thing Sanji should have different heart shaped animations like in Jump Force and let them do damage because it grosses the girls out or smth. Chopper could be like Android 16 and have a kung fu point super and a stronger Monster point super where he loses health.
Might be confusing to players, with the visuals being different it can mess up with hitbox perception, plus many moves wouldn't make much sense. Plus plus, it's so much more time consuming to make a whole new animation set just to do that. I'm going with Thorgi's idea
That whole time 40:40 he was talking about how unique it is for buggy to be a puppet fighter who disconnects parts of his body and how there isn't anything else like him, I was thinking of Ms Fortune from skullgirls.
For Sanji, I was thinking just change his animation where his attacks shoot out hearts. Change his special. And make the damage the same as regular Sanji. You could get real creative with love struck Sanji's alternate animations. Just don't buff/nerf the damage or range of his attacks
That's how they did it in the other One Piece fighting games - it was the case for the arena games where Sanji just acted lovesick against every female character. For Great Pirate Colosseum on 3DS though... Eh? Not sure there, don't think they cared for that one - and that was by Arc Systems.
Problem with that is if the Other tag in another character in, and both Male and Female opponent on screen. I guess prevent the other gender from getting hit from Sanji..... Yeah he's going to be low tier.
@@Zeronichi I think what the comment mean is that when facing a female character the only change is his animation, everything else such as hitboxes, frame data and damage remains the same. This way Sanji won't be low tier and still make sense.
Oh hell yeah! I’ve been wanting this, and with a series as big as One Piece, you’d have enough to make hundreds of possible movesets, so everyone’s roster is almost always unique!
Man a One Piece roster at this point would need to be at least 31 characters out of the gate. The warlords. The supernova. The strawhats, The Yonko. That's like 31 characters right there with only the bare minimum roster lol.
Another idea for Sanji: *He has a “I NEED LADY!!!” moveset.* His moves still do damage but it does no visible damage while the HP bar falls. He also probably has a completely different moveset than his normal kicks. And let’s just say if you finish off a female opponent with “I NEED LADY!!!” then instead of the female opponent getting KO’d they’re done with his shit and go away. I’d love to see the ultimate be the something to do with the nosebleed incident on Fishman Island. I’m not completely sure on how it would work but just a reference to it would be fine in the ultimate. Edit: Oh, and Boa does 2x damage to Sanji but due to her beauty, Sanji does 2x damage back.
In other games, Sanji often has a mechanic where he just straight up can't damage female characters because he goes for non-damaging pushes instead of direct hits, like in his fight against Khalifa
I still can’t believe no one has tried to copy the way one piece grand adventure handled Sanji fighting women. He just acts like a love struck goofball. He gets different animations and dialogue but he can still do damage to them because it’s a fighting game and handicapping him like that just makes people not want to play him.
Sanji moveset should be him being so lovely, caring, and such a goofball, that the female characters would take damage from pure cringe or pure love. Nami would take cringe damage, just like his sister, and Boa, these characters would just leave the fight. Others like Yamato, Robin, and Koala would take love damage, these ones would let Sanji win. It gets a bit complicated when we get to the villains, like Big Mom, but I'm sure the creators would find a way.
I like this series because it's a way to celebrate and discuss characters but also introduce those characters to people who have never seen them. Great stuff and love the intros and editing as well!!!
Well, I have an alternative idea for Sanji's "Gimmick": In JoJo All Star Battle, Hol Horse, a character that also refuses to hit women, has this addressed by making his Attack di less damage on women, but when he Is fighting them his super Meter builds faster. They could do something similar for Sanji I think.
You could just do the same that in jump superstar where all his moves change into weird lovey-dovey gestures but they still do damage. Just instead of knocking out the female oponent she just get so gross out she leave
On the topic of attention to detail, in Smash Ultimate, Charizard, Incineroar, Inkling, and Sonic all take continuous damage when they enter water in Smash. Charizard and Incineroar because they’re Fire-type Pokémon, Inkling because they dissolve in water, and Sonic is self explanatory if you’ve played any Sonic game where you go underwater.
I agree for the most part on a lot of these choices; the starting roster in particular is about as perfect as you can get! However, as cool and surprising as most of the choices for DLC are, I feel like it’s a huge mistake to not have Big Mom and Shanks. Big Mom has been just as big a threat as Kaido these past few arcs, and it strikes me as very weird that of the villains in Whole Cake that you could’ve gone with, you prioritized Judge. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cool choice, but Big Mom is very clearly the more important figure. And Shanks is another very pivotal character in the series; the very catalyst for Luffy’s entire dream of wanting to be a Pirate. He’s one of the most hyped characters in the series, maybe even more than Mihawk; and he’s even going to be the central focus of the next One Piece film. He feels like a must-have! (Also, just some personal switch ups I’d make: Arlong instead of Hody and Shiki instead of Bullet. Arlong is seen as more compelling and interesting than Hody by the fans, and while Bullet is the most recent film antagonist, most fans seem to find him kinda boring. I’m not sure what Shiki’s fan reception as a whole is, but I know he’s a popular character, and Strong World is at least a contender for the best One Piece movie.)
I'ld take Shiki or Zephyr much more than Bullet! The only reason he's not the worst one piece movie villain us cause saga exist. Also Shiki would be a great zoner/traper with his floating powers
Yea definitely not a big fan of Hody. Arlong was definitely a fun villian and should swap him in While I agree that Shanks should be in, the problem is that we literally have seen him do nothing combat wise. I can see why Thorgi didn't include him
@@fatearthshatterer3059 Didn’t stop him from including Kuzan and Mihawk, as he literally states in the video. Plus, we’ve gotten Shanks as a playable character before in other games like Pirate Warriors, and he’s had unique attacks there, based on suggestions from Oda I believe. We may not know EVERYTHING Shanks can do, but we can definitely extrapolate moves from other games. Plus, assuming we get to see him fight in Film:Red or even just in the manga itself, if we push him out to wave 3 DLC it gives us plenty of time for Shanks to show off more concrete moves of his.
FighterZ Brooke absolutely must have two attacks like the one Skullgirls' Big Band has, that lets you actually play music with the buttons while it's active. One for his viiolin and one for his guitar.
Great roster honestly. You included almost all of the fighterz I’d want to see in this hypothetical game (like WB, Law, Enel, Mihawk, Doffy, Crocodile, Kuma & Yamato). The only one’s I still have on my list are Magellan, Garp, Kizaru, Fujitora, Shanks, X. Drake and Caesar Clown.
@@hunbi1875 This video is two years old and neither Garp nor Koby had really fought yet. Now they are both contenders. Season 4 could have them plus Kizaru and Big Mom
I think usopp has the clearest separation between the timeskip, and could have a case for a separate slot. Pre-skip would focus on the star shots and dials, with a possible sogeking install super, while post-skip focuses on pop plants and trap setup zoning.
Bandai is literally losing money by not making a OP fighting game. They already have the rights, a connection to arcsys, funding, demand for a game, huge fanbase, enough characters for 5 10+character dlc seasons ... its literally all there already
While having all the Germa guys as one character makes sense, Ichiji should probably be the point man instead of Judge. Ichiji has more moves to work with and team moves with his siblings.
I think the “big character” gimmick from Tatsunoko can work with this game, if only for characters like the Yonko, Pica, Magellan’s dragon form, and even another form of the classic Arc System original character.
Solid idea. The one thing id change is make jinbei the grappler and have Nico be a trap character, who has to set points where you want the hands to sprout. You can set up to a certain number of invisible trap points from a distance on the floor walls and celing, that have to be manually activated and all go off simultaneously, but the trap only connects if the opponent is close enough to one of the points set, leading into either them being ensnared so you can combo them/set up, or spend meter to have all the other trap points that didnt connect sprout big attacks to do one large chunk of damage, scaling off how many were planted. The main idea being her playstyle requiring a lot of character knowledge and situational awareness since you have to keep up with where your traps are.
I was just thinking about this concept earlier today: ironic that there’d be the perfect video tailored to my love of One Piece, my exposure to Dragon Ball Fighterz over the years and my growing interest in fighting games... But also god I need a good One Piece fighting game for my soul- Also Blackbeard’s first fruit doesn’t steal Devil Fruit powers: it SEALS them. So it’d prolly be less of a Kirby deal and more just... blocking access to certain moves for a brief period? Something like that- But also holy fuck y’all still did amazing with this video and you captured the characters EXTREMELY well still, so thank you for your hard work!!!
@@godusopp9557 that is still mystery. Nobody can confirm the reason why he got WB's df nor why he can use 2 df. It might be from his df ability but it might be because he knew a secret that nobody else knows. But what we know rn is that he can absorb people itself and store them in a void. He can also nullify other df abilities.
As a long time One Piece fan (and more recent fan of this video series) I have to say that this is a great video! The complete roster captures some of the biggest names from pretty much every faction of One Piece, along with some good odd pulls (Carrot was a nice surprise). My only change would to replace Bullet with Shiki from Strong World (mainly since I think that movie is more popular and Shiki is a better character), but besides that I agree with all your picks. Your ideas for mechanics were intriguing and seem like a nice template to build on for the wide and wacky number of abilities in this series. So again, good job. As for what anime series I'd like to see Bandai Namco and ArcSys work on. If not One Piece, then I'd absolutely go for Bleach. Like One Piece it too lacks a big just solid fighting game. If was one of "The Big Three" along with One Piece and Naruto, and the anime is making a comeback soon as it covers the final arc of the manga. It's getting some real hype so I think the timing would be great. It also has a ton of abilities and fighting style that are on par with One Piece in terms of creativity, so ArcSys could probably do something really fun with that.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD I’d like to add on to the luffy segment, I think that there would/should be multiple Luffy forms. The distinction between his gears are too big. I think there would be Pre-Timeskip Luffy from the very start, he would show now haki, but he’d use Gear 2nd and 3rd in his attacks and specials. You’d be able to unlock Post timeskip/Pre-Wano Luffy later on, much like SSGSS Goku and Vegeta. He’d use Haki as part of his attacks and be use all the gears up to gear 4 for his attacks. It’s even possible that ahead 4 is a form change for Post-Timeskip Luffy. The final form of luffy is a DLC Character, which would be Gear 5th/Endgame Luffy. He’d be able to do anything that the other forms can do and more, and with more ease, showing how he’s more free to do anything in that form.
I disagree that post timeskip and pre timeskip should be separated; Once you do that with Luffy you may as well do that with characters such as Zoro and Usopp and now suddenly the roster is bloated. I would do what Thorgi suggested - Have Luffy simply just be the post timeskip version with gears 2-4 available. Then SPOILERS: Gear 5 should be a separate character because that is way too different. So there'd be two Luffys in total. Gear 5 would be like what UI Goku is in fighterz, just a completely unique character from the rest which would be extremely broken and OP
Hears a neat idea. Take a page out of mortal Kombat and introduced character variations. For example you pick luffy and a menu pops up asking which variation you would want to use. There would be a pre timeskip, post timeskip, bounceman, snakeman and gear 5 variation
Thorgi's Arcade: "Or add Rollback net code... which will never happen..." Me half a year later rediscovering this video RIGHT after they announced Rollback net code to fighterZ: "this must be destiny!"
I really like your idea but personally for the final DLC I would switch out horty Jones for either arlong or big mom reason being he's not as popular nor as important to the story as these two characters either would be a far better choice to get the fans hyped for a final DLC in my personal opinion. Overall though you did an awesome job with this roster You really picked a lot of major characters that would get Fans hype And this presentation was absolutely amazing As a long time one piece fan I would love this.
Agreed. I liked the fishman island arc, but Hody and his crew were kind of just props to show how much stronger the straw hats got after the timeskip. I doubt he’d get people as excited as some of the other characters would
@@rjai5003 that's what I'm saying a lot of fellow one piece fans that I talked to usually agree that hoary Jones was pretty much the worst part of that Arc so having a widely unpopular villain as a DLC really wouldn't be a good choice.
I was suprised that Kaido got a slot without Big Mom. Not that Kaido doesn't deserve one, 100% he does but I feel if you're choosing one of the 2 it should be either Big Mom or both
Arcsys created a One Piece 2D title a few years ago on a handheld that essentially shared the foundations for what would become Fighter Z, it had a companion title (Extreme Butoden) that served as a working beta for its eventual incarnation brought to home consoles. They also had crossplay which is worth mentioning. Perhaps you can make a video on this
Pretty good. The only thing I'd make different is I'd switch Yamamoto and Smoker and then instead of Hoodie I'd add Arlong since he was the first real major threat the Straw hats faced.
so nobody is gonna mention how his description of usopp matched nearly perfect to happy chaos's gun mechanic in strive??? THE FOOTAGE AND THIS VIDEO CAME OUT THE SAME DAY?! I guess mans just predicted it, good on him
It would be cool if Brook played like Hunting Horns in Monster Hunter. Where his normal attacks are different notes and the special button plays the songs from the last three/four notes you played.
17:27 actually you already have one, in the one piece grand series of games (the "arena fighters") sanji has "love hits" on the female cast (complete with hearts and "pop" sounds when he attacks instead of his normal harsh kicks and "slapping" sounds) so he can still fight normally but the animations and voice lines are different also a BIG miss not having foxy as a DLC fighter, he could be a short ranged rush down fighter with very few long range options just to annoy the opponent and using the slow slow fruit's power the slow slow beam. the beam itself is slow but it can leave the opponent wide open when hit as well as the fact that maybe foxy can angle it (maybe a meter that slowly builds up to use better "slow slow" skills for balance?)
@@PisserFartShitt You'd be surprised lmao. Foxy is one of those characters seen with a lot of wasted potential and with his DF power he could be insanely good in PvP. My dream ArcSys anime fighter is highly unlikely, but I’d love to see them tackle Symphogear. It’s a magical girl anime with sci-fi inspired aesthetics, a heavy focus on over the top action, and a gimmick where most of the heroes need to sing to use their powers. I feel like it’d work really well as an ArcSys game. For the roster, I’d base it on the final season, which brought back some old fan favorites, and could have 19 characters. 18 normal ones, and a boss who’d be a more OP echo fighter of one of the 18 base characters. Perhaps said boss could even have a gimmick like the demons from Demon Slayer, where instead of having teammates, she’d have some unique abilities: summoning robotic minions to replace the assists, and a healing ability to replace switching out to another character to recover red health. I’m not going to go over my idea for the whole roster, since it’d involve some major spoilers, and I want more people to check out the show, but between the 19 base characters, and one season of dlc, with 6-8 characters, it’d cover most, if not all, of the major characters from the show, making it relatively easy to please the entire fan base, and they can pull from the mobile game if they need more dlc characters.
Having recently finished Symphogear, man that series really deserves a fighting game of some sort! Whether it’s ArcSys, French-Bread, whoever that develops it, it’s a series that really should have some kinda big console game
And then, the Symphogear series finally gets an Official English Dub release, in a Video Game, of all things. Everyone else: WHAT?????!!!!!! Me: Yep. Just do it, but for parts of the cast, go for an Actor Shared Background approach.
That means two examples are none other than having Erica Mendez and Cristina Valenzuela as Hibiki and Tsubasa. They can sing and act very well. Do it. Also Me: If Heihachi Edajima is a possible Playable Guest Star, then I would convince Kenta Miyake and Kevin Michael Richardson (or Jamieson Price) to voice him in Japanese and English.
Honestly you could do a 4th Season. Characters like Garp, Shanks, Magellan Arlong, Bon Clay and Shiki are super important to the story and I feel like they would so badass to play
This is a pretty solid list. I feel like it might make sense to put Smoker in the base roster and have Akainu take his place in the first DLC season because despite how much of an impact Akainu has made in the series, Smoker feels like a bit more iconic of a character and fits just as well as a member of the marines. Speaking of the marines, I feel like it's a shame not to include Garp. My first instinct would be to replace Hody Jones with Garp since Jones is not very well liked among the fanbase as far as I can tell, but I can't imagine Garp would be a very complex character (probably mostly a brawler with a slow-moving projectile or two), so if you want to keep the unique mechanics theme of the third season perhaps you could put Garp in season 2 and push Judge to season 3? Finally, and this is mostly a matter of personal preference, but if you want a quicker and more agile sword user, I would sooner include Tashigi than Killer. There are so few important female fighters in One Piece and that's reflected in this roster, so Tashigi would help balance that out a little bit, as well as give a bit more representation to the marines. Also, she is ranked notably higher on the World Top 100 popularity poll than Killer (Tashigi is in 38th place and Killer is in 55th), but either character could work just as well as the other.
Here’s an idea for build the roster: Sonic the fighters 2 or sonic battle 2 or even a completely new sonic fighting game The sonic cast is so varried in terms of personality and abilities that you can build a roster based on the main cast alone and i would love to see what you would pick
I’d love to see his thoughts on streamlining and improving the Sonic Battle gameplay system, it had so much potential to be both fun and competitively interesting if it wasn’t stuck on the GBA.
Hey @dalekketchup, imagine if Kodansha, Bamco and Toei got the balls to make a Marvel vs. Capcom Game, but with a Sailor Moon and Pretty Cure Palette Swap. Secret Fighters (this is a Far-fetched Idea, but who cares): Sakura Kinomoto and Jolyne Cujoh/Ichigo Hoshimiya. Why Sakura and Jolyne/Ichigo would be Secret Fighters? Because why not and not to mention, as well, give Sakura and Jolyne/Ichigo the Secret Guest Fighter treatment for this Game.
Plus, this is Bamco and Arc Sissy's we're talking about. Nothing can stop Sakura and Jolyne to pit toe to toe against the likes of Sailor Galaxia and some PreCure Bad Guy in this game.
I want this so badly, there's never been a proper One Piece fighting game. Some anime arena fighters like Burning Blood and I think a couple of Smash Bros type ones on the 3DS but nothing like FighterZ.
I think one way to go around the height issue could be that the characters would be raiding a lab that was trying to develope the Big Mom Height Formula. So the height of the characters would be alter, and it would be an incomplete formula so we can get the heights that looks the best.
Nice video, I was super stoked when I saw this pop up earlier! Personally, I would replace Douglas Bullet and Zephyr with some of the canon characters. The non-canon and movie stuff is cool, but it’s not really as celebrated, influential, and loved as let’s say the Dragon Ball movie content (the movies are still good and all, but I think it’s a better move to put in canon only content, especially because One Piece has such a gigantic cast.). I’d elect Kizaru/Borsalino and Big Mom to take their spots respectively.
A few ideas for Dramatic Finishers Luffy vs Buggy - Buggy's men surround Luffy, and Buggy lights a cannon, firing a Special Buggy Ball point blank at Luffy. If Luffy wins the match, he uses the Gum Gum Balloon to bounce the projectile right back at Buggy Blackbeard vs Whitebeard - If you've seen that one part in the series, you'd know what would happen. If Whitebeard wins, he tells Blackbeard that someone will find the One Piece, then deliver one final blow and win the match. And of course, he'll then scream "THE ONE PIECE DOES EXIST!" _DRAMATIC FINISH_ Zoro vs Mihawk - Their first encounter, with Zoro using a three sword style attack and Mihawk blocking it with his knife before slashing Zoro with Yoru. If Zoro wins, he staggers a bit then says "I'm not done!" Then either Zoro delivers a finishing strike, or Mihawk forfeits the match out of respect. Luffy vs Crocodile - Well this is obvious, it would be their first fight. This would basically be the One Piece FighterZ equivalent of Goku vs Frieza. Imagine them reluctantly teaming up in the story mode. Also maybe a DLC pack for some nemesis characters, so we can have Nami vs Arlong, Usopp vs Klahadore, Buggy vs Shanks, etc.
Man as someone who is caught up in the manga and seen the anime up to dressrosa, this video is the most i ever heard of the OP Dub this whole video was super fun to watch. im glad i found your channel when you made the Pokken 2 video
I like the ideas of FighterZ Being a Series. That will ultimately lead to a Shonen Jump FighterZ Cause I need my dream team game with Kinnikuman, Jotaro and Kenshiro
The plot could have some really cool shit. Zoro wanting to seek out Ichigo to see how strong of a swordsman he is. Blackbeard trying to steal stand arrows so he can get another power at his disposal.
I feel like chopper would be a stance character with each stance being a different point so e.g. quarter-circle-forward + an attack would turn him into the points you mentioned but rather than him switching based of which button he pressed, it would be based off which stance he did and each stance has all 3 moves but their corresponding move is significantly better than the others. This change is mainly for convenience of targeting and animations... his special should be an install that turns him into monster point
In my head, Doflamingo in a 2D fighting game behaves something like Byakuya from Under Night, or Testament from Guilty Gear... you see him set up traps with his strings, but then they disappear from view, and you either have to jump block through them, avoid them when going forward, or remain passive to deal with them. Also, dude has good reach because he's like 9 ft tall.
For doffy, I think it'd be really cool if one of his specials or supers put one of his body control strings on a character, and he could push a button to call in an opponents character for an assist
I would love to see a Mortal Kombat vs Killer Instinct episode for this show. Seeing the 2 biggest fighting game series that originated in the West would be sick, not to mention the guest characters could get truly wild.
To solve the Sanji issue we could take a cue from the Wano arc where he asks Robin for help fighting a female bad guy. I know it would be a pain for the devs but you could alter his moveset when up against female opponents to be all attacks done by Robin and/or Nami (kind of how the stands worked in the old school Jojo’s Bizarre adventure fighting game.) Sanji could build up some kind of stamina by dodging and blocking and then use assists from other characters as well.
If zoro did have 3 styles with different numbers of swords, then I like the idea of three swords being a balanced style, two swords being speed, and one sword being power since most of his one sword style moves as extra strong
My fear with One Piece fighting game rosters is always that the one making it will put too much emphasis on pre-TS or post-TS, depending on when they started reading/watching the series. While some end up adding Arlong, Kaku, Kuro and Spandam (as a joke character), others end up adding Carrot, Sabo, Hody Jones and Oden, who is one of the most divisive characters in the series. I feel like your list finds a nice balance, although a bit weighted on the post-TS side of things. Still, would buy the game with the roster you made, not gonna lie. Good job.
a spandam joke fighter would be hilarious, just have most of his moves be him clumsily falling ot getting hurt by bullshit (spilling tea, getting shot by a canonball that hits launches him into the opponent etc) with either funkfreed or the buster call beign his big finishing moves.
I would love to see you do a Build the Roster episode for a hypothetical Sailor Moon fighting game some day. With a few guest characters from other well known Magical Girl shows.
I really love the roster, but I don’t know if I’m feeling Hody Jones. He’s not a very popular villain from what I’ve heard. Even when I watched his arc, I didn’t really like him that much Going back to Beerus, and how he had a whole movie dedicated to him, we are soon going to get a movie based on Luffy’s big role model and one of the Four Emperors, Shanks. I think he would be a better choice, and it would technically go with your “one movie character per season” theme, because this movie would finally show off what he’s capable of. Plus, he’s like omega popular and is in nearly every game. After that movie comes out, you know everyone is going to want to see him in
I know im late to the party, but might i just say you read that script really well around Yamato. Ive never seen sombody dance so gracefully in a minefield before😂
If this video ends up doing well and doesn’t get sent to demonitization hell, then I’d love to see more BTR’s covering other anime. Especially a Jump Force/J-stars 2 roster, for all the possible series and characters from weekly shonen jump being put into the same fighting game, and all the possible playstyle and interactions of the characters
Dragon Ball is great... heck, I'm a fan of it (and so is my 6-year-old nephew)... but making a fighting game based on it might be the bureau version of Ctrl C, Ctrl V. Every characters, while still having a couple unique traits, all revolve around "Me is flying, me is tough to beat, me shoot the blasty balls, me teleport, me kill.". So good job on picking a series with unique moves and characters.
Honestly id replace ace with sabo, then put ace in dlc pack 1. That said my team would have to be Carrot-Brook-Buggy At least until we get perona and smoker. And if I get anyone that plays like hazama from crosstag they gain priority.
Heh, I just watched the whole thing in one sitting. I've felt the "next" Shonen Jump fighting game shouldn't be a DBFZ2, but either One Piece or just a straight up "Shonen Jump Superheroes" much like how X-Men:COTA jumped to Marvel Super Heroes. Anyways, I was watching hoping Smoker & Perona would make it just because they would have such unique styles, and I'm glad you eventually put them in. Buggy could also take inspiration from Ms. Fortune in Skullgirls. Also liked how you incorporated the Blazblue Drive Mechanic to make use to the powers and fighting styles. Very fun B-A-R. Also congrats to this video being up even now!
This is a strong starting roster. I really like how you fleshed out how each character is going to play and I agree with almost all of them, though I would say I'd like Lucci to play more like Valkenhayn from Blazblue. Also I'd put Big Mom somewhere in the DLC, I'd personally drop Barto.
Your roster ideas are quite interesting. I don't think we need movies characters or Hody though. If we need a fish man, I'd rather have Arlong or Hatchan. There is so much other interesting characters, how fun it could be to play Vivi with Karoo or more goofy forgotten characters like Foxy!
Likely wouldn't be Arcsys due to some of the backend business side of things but I would love to see a vs-style game based on the Fate series - their big mobile game giving the player a front line of 3 Servants would be extremely well suited to a versus style game, and you could even implement some really interesting mechanics, depending on the intent. You could also go for a 1v1 fighter with more complicated movesets. I think that a versus game would be the better choice since you would be able to go with many of the "obvious" picks of the extremely popular or important characters but if you wanted to get some of the more interesting and unique characters on a mechanical standpoint, you'd need to go for some more obscure ones. The reasons why I think it wouldn't be Arcsys is because Type Moon has a much better relationship with French Bread so I think that they would be the main team working on the game (though French Bread does have a relationship with Arcsys due to them helping publish games and the existence of BBTag), and also that the company making the mobile game is now headed by Capcom's very own Ono so if they reached out to someone else he might go for Capcom. Though they did outsource the arcade game to Sega, so who knows?
Here is an idea for Luffy’s gear forms and gameplay. If we consider a post time skip Luffy, he could switch between gear forms very fluently. So how about we make this a comeback/revenge mechanic. As his health decreases, his attacks get replaced with higher gear alternatives that are faster and hit harder. Like his basic attack is GumGum Pistol but once he gets down to 60% all his moves glow and lose Startup and wind down frames. Then below 35% the Pistol move will have his fist be like 1/3rd of his body size maybe gaining wind down frames once more, but being in return as large as a truck and hit just as hard. This would give the Strawhat a unique playstyle that is hard to master, since you basically need to memorize and adapt to 3 sets at once.
This roster was amazing and the moveset for each character was pretty unique and a good fit. Thanks for making me want a one piece fighting game. I will say you built the dlc structure in an interesting way. While it definitely should have a pattern a think a better structure would be to have every season include a movie villain, an admiral, and end with a yonko. Each yonko should also have a member from their crew also present in the game and each major warlord should get a chance to appear. Season 1: Kuzan, Gecko Moria, Douglas, Sabo Judge, Big Mom having Judge and Big Mom appear in the same season work for lore reasons. Replacing Perona with Gecko stills callback to thrillerbark while bringing in a warlord. Opening with Kuzan gives us a crew member for a yonko already in the game and an admiral. How they play: Gecko moria would be a zoner using brickbats to attack from afar and trapping his opponents in boxes. Like blackboard stealing, special gecko could have a grab that steals the opponent's shadow and places it in a zombie puppet. until the opponent deals enough damage to the puppet moria can call it out to fight for him using a moveset based on the opponents fighting style. BIg mom's playstyle would utilize her major homies in Prometheus, Nepolean and, Hera (no not Zeus if Kaido's in this game I'm assuming were using Wano versions of our characters). She would be able to Zone and deliver powerful heavy attacks playing best in a mid to close range. In return for the power make her slow and easy to hit, she is a big target in the show. For her special use the mechanic, you were gonna give Hordy. This still works because big mom is giving up her soul to power the special homies that she uses to fight. sacrificing health in order to make them more powerful and do more damage fits narratively well with Lin LIn. Ultimate would be here unleashing Misery on her enemy. Season 2: Kiziru, Shiki, Kuma, MIhawk, Marco, Whitebeard Kiziru has to be in a One-piece fighting game he's one of the most charismatic navy members in the show and loved by many fans. Plus we've seen the most from him in terms of combat compared to other admirals. Shiki is a good movie villain with ties to the old era and with whitebeard also being in this season it is a nice way to hint at the final character through the ones we see come first. I say this because all the characters in this season would have a connection to marineford. How they Play: Kiziru would have play zoner who uses his lazer beams and saber to combat at mid to long-range. His special would be an instant teleport that would have him appear behind, above, or in front of the opponent depending on how many ties you pressed the input in succession. This would be readable as Kiziru would be a yellow beam traveling on the screen until he materialized. If you would attempt and land a light attack after this it will come out at the speed of a light but have the properties of a heavy strike landing. this would simulate him kicking people at the speed of light and it feels so powerful. Shiki would be able a zoner in the truest of forms using his float fruit to create walls of debris to block enemy movement while sending out flying objects towards his opponents in the shapes of lion heads. His special would be creating these wall traps that the opponent would have to maneuver around. He could at most have 3 or 4 and if he tried to make another while at max all the traps would fly towards the opponent. If you were to press the special input while close to one of these traps he would send that specific trap directly towards the opponent and bring along any other traps it hit along the way. If Shiki were to suffer a knockdown all traps currently floating would disappear. Season 3: Kinemon, Oden, Z, Fujitora, Yamato, Kaido Adding Fujitora to the list because it rounds out our admirals and the Blind swordsman fits the wano theme this season would have. Yamato is here because I feel like She would be similar to how Kaido fights because her fighting style and other abilities mimic/mirror her father. So having them show up around the same time would be nice so you don't feel like you paid twice for the same character. She would be replaced by Smoker in the default roster as I think he's the type of character who can for into s video game "Filler" like the story and give it a sense of seriousness. How they Play: Fujitora would be an in your face lock you down character. Give him some strong strikes and unlockables that need to charge up and make him slow. His Supers and ults would be based on bringing down meteors and his special would have him create an area that made jumps shorter and characters move slower while active. if you were already in the a when it was activated you would come crashing down taking damage from the fall. This area would be small center on him and last for a short 3-4 seconds That's the only changes I would make regarding roster. The only other thing I would change is adding the word dream in the title since that's a key theme to one piece. The story could even be about how all the straw hats get stuck in a dream world and have to fight old enemies and friends to escape.
Making the game take place in a shared dream scenario also gives an easy explanation for Sanji hitting Women characters, they're not real women, or it's a dream version of Sanji. Also gives a reason for these characters that are dead to show up.
Great concept and roster (I agree with almost every pick). Would love to see a game like this. I'd probably switch Ace and Sabo around and make Ace the DLC character because "reasons" (and it seems Sabo will be WAY more important in the future). Not a big fan of Douglas Bullet, so I'd propably switch him out in favor of Shiki for another movie villain. Having Oden along with Zoro, Kin'emon, Killer and Mihawk seems a bit redundant (even if they'd actually play a lot different). Maybe someone like Big Mom, Gecko Moria or Don Krieg with their wide range of abilities would make for a more interesting character to play.
Honestly, hell yeah that starting roster is like, near perfect for what I'd put in the start. Maybe Ace feels more DLC to me and I'd replace with Enel or Arlong, but otherwise fabulous.
Yeah, I would say the same thing. Maybe just use Sabo in the main game with Ace as DLC. Also, they do seemingly fight differently despite having the same fruit. Sabo seems like he's both a rush down character that attacks with a steel pipe, possibly with some grabs thrown in (I'm specifically thinking of that thing where he grabs an enemy's head with his "dragon claw"), while Ace feels like he'd be a zoner with a few more close range options than others in this category.
Usopp should work like this: Instead of having different moves be different shots, have most of his move set use hammer and dials, while he has a ranged sniping move. His main gimmick would be all the different types of shots he could use, and he would have a move where he switches between them. This determines what shot he would use for his ranged abilities, and let’s him have a balanced move set. Every shot he uses in the whole series would be something he could switch into.
Yeah this was actually pretty great, you should totally try to get one of the OP TH-camrs to make a reaction video to this. Grandline Review, Rogersbase, Tekking101, Mr.Morj, & Ohara are probably the most prominent ones.
while cool it'd be VERY challenging to come up with moves for dudes who, in shanks' case, haven't fought on screen, and in rogers case died before the seires even started, and it'd be better to focus on characters with actual movesets
Love this idea for a fighting game makes perfect sense to use One Piece especially since I feel MHA is doing it's own thing at the moment with its series. Now for another anime build the roster episode I know this will sound crazy since it's super unlikely and only be for a Japanese market but I would kill for a fighting game (that's not on DS) for the Precure franchise. While yes it is a magical girl series it is also known for being a lot more action packed than most magical girl series and it has a massive cast of literary colorful characters, allies, and villains to pull from. Probably never gonna be done with you but I just wanted to mention my dream build the roster episode
i would like "old generation dlc" With characters like Oden, Whitebeard, Roger, Garp, Rayleigh, or Sengoku.
Shiki could be cool too
Omg already thinking about dlc🤦♂️ why are these developers doing this to us :(
I'd name it Legends of the Sea
I don’t think Whitebeard and maybe Sengoku should be DLC
Too op
My idea for how Mihawk is that he only uses the big sword for his supers. All of his normals and specials are just using the dinky little knife that he fought Zoro with. He has short reach, but is very mobile, can build meter quickly, and his supers all do insane damage.
On defeat he does the Slayer thing where he's not KOed, he just lies there and looks mildly impressed with you
Which game is that from
Guilty Gear
I think they did the same thing with Beerus who, when you beat him, just says “I don’t feel like fighting anymore.”
I think we've reached a point in the story where he's not strong enough to warrant that. He's powerful, but someone like Kaido would probably still require him at least use his regular sword.
Nah nah make Yoru an Install Super, he starts off with the tiny dagger but get an upgraded/slightly switched move set once he pulls out Yoru.
“Crocodile is the first Warlord we meet”

@@berserk4447 thus, technicality.

@@berserk4447 since he is now a warlord, he is technically the first warlord we ever meet, ignoring the technicality that he is only one now. It all depends on which rules you are applying to the question. The technicality in this case is that we count Buggy’s future status ( as he is still the same character )
Edit: of course, if we were to count future warlords and current warlords separate, then there no longer is any technicality, but that is never explicitly said
An idea for sanji, when fighting a female character his moveset changes from black leg to "love struck" mode, an entirely cosmetic change where he doesnt hit a female oponent but inflicts "cringe damage" from his proposals and declarations of love
So like jump force

Quick correction: Blackbeard's power isn't necessarily to steal devil fruits on the fly, but to shut them off when a user comes in contact with him. So, I would say his special gimmick could be shutting off the drive button of his opponent. Extremely powerful, but with some ArcSys magic they could probably make it work. Maybe, not only is he slow, but he inherently suffers more hitstun than the average character does (lore-wise, he's able to take damage, but it hurts like hell and he doesn't have logia invulnerability; you could probably capture the same feel with a health reduction, but hitstun is more unique).
I was gonna correct him too but it’s been so long since I saw him fight ace I didn’t wanna be wrong🥴
Facts we dont know how he can acquire a second devil fruit. It's implied that eating a devil fruit user you can get the fruit only if you dont already have one.
Lol us one piece fans do not play about the facts of series we will correct any error that comes out 😂😂😂
nah taking more hitstun would make him unviable as you would probably be able to combo thing you normaly couldnt and it would just be an horror movie pplaying bb
As someone that loves one piece dragon ball fighterz and this channel I'm hyped for this vid
I’m in the same boat, all though I’m only at water 7 so I’d probably spoil the entire show for myself playing a One Piece Fighterz lmao
Hellz yah
@@2phonebabykeem913 I envy you I wish I could forget the plot and watch OP again unsuspecting
You have no idea how much hope this gives me! I hope so bad that OP Fighterz becomes a thing!
Boost this comment!!!!
I was so pissed when Pirate Colluseum didn't come over seas
I think someone told me that they've managed to get the crossplay working through emulation, but I dont remember for sure. I do know that both EB and GPC seem to run pretty good on some 3ds emulators at least, and I've seen pretty high quality footage of a couple crossplay matches, so it might be the emulators
The game literally had usopp using his hammer for close range too
For a potential Season 4:
-Shanks (Remaining Yonko that has played a huge part on the story from the very beginning)
-Big Mom (Remaining Main Antagonist Post timeskip that had yet to appear in the game)
-Borsalino (Remaining Vice Admiral Marine and part of the Triumvirate with Kuzan and Akainu)
-King (Kaido’s Second in command and Right Hand whom gave Zoro one hell of a fight)
-Ivankov (A leader and founder of the Revolutionaries alongside Dragon, and helped Luffy and Sanji)
-Uta (The latest villain of the anniversary film Red, Shanks’ daughter AND Luffy’s Childhood Friend)
Points I appreciate here:
- Including all the Straw Hats. I know this feels like a given, but some games (mostly crossovers) have included non-Straw Hat allies over the crew, which just feels wrong to me. The most egregious was probably J-Stars, which had Ace and Hancock but only Luffy as far as Straw Hats go
- The Nami fighting style is really interesting and fits her really well!
- No multiple versions of the same characters! It annoyed me in Fighterz that we had multiple Goku forms, some blatantly just power-ups that should be exactly the same but stronger
- Great ideas for all the fighting styles! Some really creative ones, I especially liked Nami, Franky and Buggy's gimmicks
I think there's an argument for a pre and post Usopp since they fight very different
My biggest complaint is the lack of side characters like tashigi and Koby. Massive missed opportunities to me.
@@starpencil To be fair, until REALLY recently for Koby, we didn't know much about how he fights.

This would also make sense because when they fought in Alabasta it showed their fighting styles were similar, and Sanji also trained at the Kamabaka kingdom (idk if I spelled that right), where the people/person Bon Clay looked up to were from
Also Shanks
The bon clay idea is genius 😂
Honestly, I feel like Bon Clay would be cool, kinda like a makeshift character like Double from Skullgirls. Or make him a random select option like twelve in sfv (he can change his physique as well).
You are GOD DAMN RIGHT my man. Bon Clay best waifu.
Hell yea bon clay one of the best characters out there hes so perfect
I would save Ace and Yamato for the the very 1st DLC, especially since it works story-wise. I would instead put Sabo and Enel in their spots. Ace and Sabo could still play very differently from each other despite having the same powers, and then Enel being one of the best villains in the series.
really depends on if it picks off where the story is at or a original clone army story like in db fighterz
Problem is its ace..you NEED ACE hes one of the most popular character and a huge part of the story do keeping him for dlc is rough
Chopper could be like Android 16 and have a kung fu point super and a stronger Monster point super where he loses health.
exactly. fair enough they wanna keep it consistent that sanji cant fight women, but at least do some kind of damage to them..
Might be confusing to players, with the visuals being different it can mess up with hitbox perception, plus many moves wouldn't make much sense. Plus plus, it's so much more time consuming to make a whole new animation set just to do that. I'm going with Thorgi's idea
Thats cringe tho
that's what i thought about the moment he said that
@@blank-3403 then just design it to be consistent with his normal animations
That whole time 40:40 he was talking about how unique it is for buggy to be a puppet fighter who disconnects parts of his body and how there isn't anything else like him, I was thinking of Ms Fortune from skullgirls.
Anakaris does this.
Kinda like a more in-depth Zenitsu?
Isn't that how they did him in Jump All-Stars or something?
@@maybeitsyou1317 nah 45
One Piece could have a roster as large as Smash Bros Ultimate and that would be perfectly fine lol
@@maybeitsyou1317 I would hope for 36 at launch at LEAST.
Another idea for Sanji:
*He has a “I NEED LADY!!!” moveset.*
His moves still do damage but it does no visible damage while the HP bar falls.
@@kmaple9 Yeah, I got this idea from Jump Force. It was such a waste of potential to have him just do no damage.
Yeah I think this is a much better solution
I like this series because it's a way to celebrate and discuss characters but also introduce those characters to people who have never seen them. Great stuff and love the intros and editing as well!!!
Adding Kuma as a training dummy would be so good!
as someone caught up to the manga this is actually such a depressing idea 😢

Arlong was definitely a fun villian and should swap him in
While I agree that Shanks should be in, the problem is that we literally have seen him do nothing combat wise.
Kizaru should 100% be in
They would both be pretty bad shanks has no moveset and big mom is A walking L
FighterZ Brooke absolutely must have two attacks like the one Skullgirls' Big Band has, that lets you actually play music with the buttons while it's active. One for his viiolin and one for his guitar.
Imagine going online, and the other guy starts playing binks sake, legendary moment
Man I can’t wait to have somebody serenade me with Megalovania during a TOD for a second time
Great roster honestly.
Garp was one I was hoping he'd throw in. Sad to not see him or Koby
@starpencil yeah dude why is noone mentioning koby? He's like one of the first characters I thought of when thinking of non straw hat characters.
@@hunbi1875 This video is two years old and neither Garp nor Koby had really fought yet. Now they are both contenders. Season 4 could have them plus Kizaru and Big Mom
I think usopp has the clearest separation between the timeskip, and could have a case for a separate slot. Pre-skip would focus on the star shots and dials, with a possible sogeking install super, while post-skip focuses on pop plants and trap setup zoning.
sogeking too good to br an install, we need him as an alt costume so we can see this dude's greatness at all times
@@QWERTY708100why would Sogeking be an alternate costume, he’s a completely different character who comes from sniper island

But also god I need a good One Piece fighting game for my soul-
Also Blackbeard’s first fruit doesn’t steal Devil Fruit powers: it SEALS them. So it’d prolly be less of a Kirby deal and more just... blocking access to certain moves for a brief period? Something like that-
But also holy fuck y’all still did amazing with this video and you captured the characters EXTREMELY well still, so thank you for your hard work!!!
I mean Blackbeard still is a bit of a Kirby since his power can still consume people like how he absorbed the whole guards in Impel Down.

I am enjoying many of these selections for One Piece FighterZ.
Great work as always Thorgi's Arcade! 🤝💯
Same but I wanted garp to be in
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
I’d like to add on to the luffy segment, I think that there would/should be multiple Luffy forms.
Then SPOILERS:
Gear 5 should be a separate character because that is way too different. So there'd be two Luffys in total. Gear 5 would be like what UI Goku is in fighterz, just a completely unique character from the rest which would be extremely broken and OP
If Gear 5 does appear as a separate character, you NEED the Drums of Liberation playing in the background with his strongest attacks.
Hears a neat idea. Take a page out of mortal Kombat and introduced character variations. For example you pick luffy and a menu pops up asking which variation you would want to use. There would be a pre timeskip, post timeskip, bounceman, snakeman and gear 5 variation
Thorgi's Arcade: "Or add Rollback net code... which will never happen..."
Me half a year later rediscovering this video RIGHT after they announced Rollback net code to fighterZ: "this must be destiny!"

Perhaps you can make a video on this
the fuck why has no one ever told me this
Pretty good. The only thing I'd make different is I'd switch Yamamoto and Smoker and then instead of Hoodie I'd add Arlong since he was the first real major threat the Straw hats faced.

It would be cool if Brook played like Hunting Horns in Monster Hunter. Where his normal attacks are different notes and the special button plays the songs from the last three/four notes you played.
Brook doesn't attack people with a violin or piano, though, he uses his cane sword and ice.
17:27 actually you already have one, in the one piece grand series of games (the "arena fighters") sanji has "love hits" on the female cast (complete with hearts and "pop" sounds when he attacks instead of his normal harsh kicks and "slapping" sounds) so he can still fight normally but the animations and voice lines are different
also a BIG miss not having foxy as a DLC fighter, he could be a short ranged rush down fighter with very few long range options just to annoy the opponent and using the slow slow fruit's power the slow slow beam. the beam itself is slow but it can leave the opponent wide open when hit as well as the fact that maybe foxy can angle it (maybe a meter that slowly builds up to use better "slow slow" skills for balance?)

I would love this.
Especially for Genjiro fighting and the xdu au characters.
Here’s an idea for build the roster:
Sonic the fighters 2 or sonic battle 2 or even a completely new sonic fighting game
The sonic cast is so varried in terms of personality and abilities that you can build a roster based on the main cast alone and i would love to see what you would pick
Sonic & Sega All-Star Battle Arena
Archie characters are definitely not going to be used
Thats perfect
Super fleetway dlc
I’d love to see his thoughts on streamlining and improving the Sonic Battle gameplay system, it had so much potential to be both fun and competitively interesting if it wasn’t stuck on the GBA.
Bandai: we need a new fighting game.
Executive: ok. Let’s just take Dragon Ball FighterZ and make it One Piece!
Bandai: brilliant!
How about jump stars. But the roster of the DS games
Me: I got a genius idea. Why not Sailor Moon vs. Pretty Cure All-Stars?
So the height of the characters would be alter, and it would be an incomplete formula so we can get the heights that looks the best.
i find it so funny that u used "them" for yamato to avoid any controversy lol
Nice video, I was super stoked when I saw this pop up earlier! Personally, I would replace Douglas Bullet and Zephyr with some of the canon characters. The non-canon and movie stuff is cool, but it’s not really as celebrated, influential, and loved as let’s say the Dragon Ball movie content (the movies are still good and all, but I think it’s a better move to put in canon only content, especially because One Piece has such a gigantic cast.). I’d elect Kizaru/Borsalino and Big Mom to take their spots respectively.
As someone who loves One Piece and this channel, I’m hyped as shit for this
Please,
Thorgi, make a JoJo fighterz
We've been craving a good fighting game since the old Capcom one
Thorgi, I wanna thank you. This video made me get into the series.
Your Review?
A few ideas for Dramatic Finishers
Luffy vs Buggy - Buggy's men surround Luffy, and Buggy lights a cannon, firing a Special Buggy Ball point blank at Luffy. If Luffy wins the match, he uses the Gum Gum Balloon to bounce the projectile right back at Buggy
Blackbeard vs Whitebeard - If you've seen that one part in the series, you'd know what would happen. If Whitebeard wins, he tells Blackbeard that someone will find the One Piece, then deliver one final blow and win the match. And of course, he'll then scream "THE ONE PIECE DOES EXIST!" _DRAMATIC FINISH_
Zoro vs Mihawk - Their first encounter, with Zoro using a three sword style attack and Mihawk blocking it with his knife before slashing Zoro with Yoru.
This is pretty timely for me. I'm nearly caught up with the manga and it's quickly grown to be one of my favorite stories of all time.
It has a way of doing that to ya
Man as someone who is caught up in the manga and seen the anime up to dressrosa, this video is the most i ever heard of the OP Dub
this whole video was super fun to watch. im glad i found your channel when you made the Pokken 2 video
loved the roster very creative although if this did happen i would like to see a two in one kinda character with coby and helmeppo
Yeah I feel like instead of hody or bullet would work
I like the ideas of FighterZ Being a Series. That will ultimately lead to a Shonen Jump FighterZ
Cause I need my dream team game with Kinnikuman, Jotaro and Kenshiro
I would love to see you do a Build the Roster episode for a hypothetical Sailor Moon fighting game
some day. With a few guest characters from other well known Magical Girl shows.
I really love the roster, but I don’t know if I’m feeling Hody Jones. He’s not a very popular villain from what I’ve heard. Even when I watched his arc, I didn’t really like him that much
Going back to Beerus, and how he had a whole movie dedicated to him, we are soon going to get a movie based on Luffy’s big role model and one of the Four Emperors, Shanks. I think he would be a better choice, and it would technically go with your “one movie character per season” theme, because this movie would finally show off what he’s capable of. Plus, he’s like omega popular and is in nearly every game. After that movie comes out, you know everyone is going to want to see him in
Great video. I love the idea of "FighterZ"-style Arc-sys games for other anime series like My Hero Academia, Fairy Tail, or Black Clover.
I know im late to the party, but might i just say you read that script really well around Yamato. Ive never seen sombody dance so gracefully in a minefield before😂
Would love to one day see a hypothetical DC vs Marvel Build the Roster video.
Yes! I would love this as well!
That said my team would have to be Carrot-Brook-Buggy
At least until we get perona and smoker.
Hody is right there...
@@Just_Liqourice as much as I prefer Bartolomeo as a character to Hordy, I gotta admit the mechanic he proposed for Hordy Jones seems more fun
This was really fun to watch! There are so many characters you could choose from for one Piece but I think you made a pretty great roster.
As a both a fighting game and one piece fan i really love this roster, i am speechless
But this is all that I can say
"Season 2, Daddy DLCs"
Really liked this video, roster choices are perfect and dlc was very interesting. This is dream fighting game for me so hopefully one day it comes out
I think a Bleach fighting game would be interesting. Since everyone has a unique ability. I think it could be possible but a little tough to pull off.
I think about this all the time
it would be so cool
There was one on DS that I remember being pretty good. Could be cool to get a sequel on switch.
The MvC2 Carnival theme playing during Buggy's introduction was a nice touch
Imagine if they make this game and every April fools, they swap Zoro’s directions. You press front, he goes back. You press up to jump, he crouched
That’s his normal control 🗿
This roster was amazing and the moveset for each character was pretty unique and a good fit. Thanks for making me want a one piece fighting game.
I will say you built the dlc structure in an interesting way. While it definitely should have a pattern a think a better structure would be to have every season include a movie villain, an admiral, and end with a yonko. Each yonko should also have a member from their crew also present in the game and each major warlord should get a chance to appear.
Season 1: Kuzan, Gecko Moria, Douglas, Sabo Judge, Big Mom
having Judge and Big Mom appear in the same season work for lore reasons. Replacing Perona with Gecko stills callback to thrillerbark while bringing in a warlord. Opening with Kuzan gives us a crew member for a yonko already in the game and an admiral.
How they play:
Gecko moria would be a zoner using brickbats to attack from afar and trapping his opponents in boxes.
Season 2: Kiziru, Shiki, Kuma, MIhawk, Marco, Whitebeard
Kiziru has to be in a One-piece fighting game he's one of the most charismatic navy members in the show and loved by many fans. Plus we've seen the most from him in terms of combat compared to other admirals. Shiki is a good movie villain with ties to the old era and with whitebeard also being in this season it is a nice way to hint at the final character through the ones we see come first. I say this because all the characters in this season would have a connection to marineford.
How they Play:
Kiziru would have play zoner who uses his lazer beams and saber to combat at mid to long-range.
Season 3: Kinemon, Oden, Z, Fujitora, Yamato, Kaido
Adding Fujitora to the list because it rounds out our admirals and the Blind swordsman fits the wano theme this season would have.
How they Play:
Fujitora would be an in your face lock you down character. Give him some strong strikes and unlockables that need to charge up and make him slow. His Supers and ults would be based on bringing down meteors and his special would have him create an area that made jumps shorter and characters move slower while active. if you were already in the a when it was activated you would come crashing down taking damage from the fall. This area would be small center on him and last for a short 3-4 seconds
That's the only changes I would make regarding roster.
One problem. NOBODY LIKES GEKO MORIA
Ande perona is a way more popular character
18:56 to be fair, one of Nami's nicknames is Weather Witch so the comparison fits.
Yeah this was actually pretty great, you should totally try to get one of the OP TH-camrs to make a reaction video to this. Grandline Review, Rogersbase, Tekking101, Mr.Morj, & Ohara are probably the most prominent ones.
you can do it to. let them know. spread the word.
No Roger or Shanks seems like a crime but the rest is literally perfect
Why would he add characters we no almost nothing about in terms of powers
@@Hensley_Jb Hasn't stop One Piece games before.
while cool it'd be VERY challenging to come up with moves for dudes who, in shanks' case, haven't fought on screen, and in rogers case died before the seires even started, and it'd be better to focus on characters with actual movesets
@@sarafontanini7051 shanks is a playable character in just about every one piece fighting game
@@Magnet_Chaos hasn’t stopped those games not being good either
Love this idea for a fighting game makes perfect sense to use One Piece especially since I feel MHA is doing it's own thing at the moment with its series. Now for another anime build the roster episode I know this will sound crazy since it's super unlikely and only be for a Japanese market but I would kill for a fighting game (that's not on DS) for the Precure franchise. While yes it is a magical girl series it is also known for being a lot more action packed than most magical girl series and it has a massive cast of literary colorful characters, allies, and villains to pull from. Probably never gonna be done with you but I just wanted to mention my dream build the roster episode
bonus idea about franky: super move for Franky Radical Beam requires cola, and if you try and use it without any it just shoots out Nipple Lights
If its a 3-on-3 team game, I like that you could run Cross Guild with Buggy, Croc, Mihawk.
